Prologue

Here's a new story, again! My ADHD is unstoppable! Enjoy!

Late at night in the city of Gotham, crime was happening. Across the rooftops of Gotham, Oswald Cobblepot A.K.A. The Penguin, was running across the rooftops.

He made raspy breaths as he ran, looking back to see his goons and thugs shooting or trying to fight three figures. Bruce Wayne A.K.A. The Goddamn Batman. He needs almost no introduction

Damien Wayne A.K.A. the current Robin, he's still working on his people skills.

And The Signal A.K.A. Duke Tomas, Gotham's Newest Vigilante.

Signal: Give it up, Cobblepot! We'll find out what is inside that package!

Robin: I'll only break a couple of bones, I swear!

Batman: No you won't.

Robin: Hehaha! Yeah, I'm breaking both his femurs and his ribs!

Batman: That's enough, Robin.

The Penguin, his round frame silhouetted by the neon lights below, skidded to a halt at the edge of the rooftop, panting heavily. His beady eyes darted back and forth, searching for an escape route, but finding none. Under his armpit, was a package roughly the same size as 3 baseball bases stacked on top of each other. His men where cut down to just three thugs.

One charged at the Batman with a tire iron, who caught his punch, broke his arm, letting his weapon fall to the ground with a clang. Batman then smashed the thug's nose in with a palm strike, and the thug dropped to his knees, unconscious. The second ran at Robin grabbing him by the collar, only to have both his wrists broken backwards and Robin kneeing him in the face. He stumbled back and fell over the edge of the building. Robin used his grapple gun to catch the thug by the ankles before he could fall to his death. The third thug, seeing his comrades defeated, threw his hands up in surrender. The Signal appeared behind him and cuffed him to a pipe.

Signal: Smart choice.

The Penguin backs away as Batman continued moving forward, his cape billowing in the cold Gotham breeze. Suddenly, the package under his arm starts beeping rapidly, growing louder with each pulse.

Batman: COBBLEPOT, DROP THE BOX!!!

The Batman realizing what the package really was, lunged at the penguin, but both him and Cobblepot, were caught in the blast as the package.

Robin: FATHER!!!

Robin's voice was the last thing Bruce heard before he blacked out. His eyes seeing the Joker's insignia on the side of the now burning package.

*****

Bruce's eyes fluttered open as he tried to sit up, only to be pushed back down. He looked to see Alfred Pennyworth A.K.A. the Butler, the best of them all.

Alfred: No you do not Master Bruce, the injuries you have sustained are quite severe. You need to remain still.

Bruce: Alfred... I'm fine... I need to-

Suddenly, Bruce Wayne saw that his entire Bat-Family aiming their weapons at him.

Nightwing A.K.A. Dick Grayson, the first Robin turned Nightwing, had his Escrima Sticks firmly on Bruce's chest, keeping him down.

Red Hood A.K.A. Jason Todd, Death and resurrection leave son lasting scars. He had his fire arm aimed at Bruce's head, a concussive bullet loaded.

Red Robin A.K.A. Tim Drake. Genius. Detective. Coffee Addict. He held his staff tightly in both hands, the tip pointed at Bruce's neck, his eyes filled with concern but unwavering in their intent.

Orphan A.K.A. Cassandra Cain, trained since birth as a living weapon, simply had her hand over Bruce's neck ready to choke him out if needed.

Spoiler A.K.A. Stephanie Brown, another former Robin, had a batarang in her hand, poised to strike if necessary, but her gaze was more puzzled than aggressive.

Bat-Wing A.K.A. Luke Fox, son of Lucius Fox and second newest member of the Bat-family, his high-tech wings and armor glowing in the dim light of the room. His eyes were locked on Bruce, his expression of worry.

Bluebird A.K.A. Harper Row, the youngest and most optimistic of the group, had her heavy stun gun aimed at Bruce.

Batwoman A.K.A. Katherine "Kate" Kane, the eldest of the newest generation of Gotham's protectors, pistols aimed and ready to open fire.

Damien and Duke were also ready as well, Damien had his Katana ready and Duke with his escrima sticks/bat-hatchets, batchets, as he called them.

Alfred: Apologies, Sir. But knowing you, I thought it necessary to call in the cavalry to ensure you stay in bed.

Jason: Yeah, Bruce, you just took a bomb that nearly killed Cobblepot, your too injured to be going out again tonight.

Tim: Rule 13 of Batman's Rules of Gotham Crime-fighting, know your limits.

Damian: You should practice what you preach

Duke: Wait, I thought Rule 13 was, Stay out of Alfred's kitchen?

Cassandra: No, that's Rule 3.

Suddenly, Barbara Gordon A.K.A. Oracle, the tactical mastermind behind the scenes and first Batgirl, rolled up next to Alfred.

Barbara: Alfred filled me in and knew you, Bruce. You'll try to go out as Batman, regardless of your injuries.

Bruce's gaze fell upon each of them, his mind racing. The Joker had played him once again, and he was not about to let Gotham suffer while he laid helpless. He knew he had to stay down, but he also knew that Gotham needed him now more than ever. Alfred then flicked his head.

Alfred: I know that look. You're thinking of sneaking out again, aren't you?

Instead of answering, Bruce averted his gaze. Harper sighed.

Harper: Is he always like this?

Dick: More stubborn then a mule? Yes.

Barbra: But also more resilient than anyone I've ever met. But this is still too much for you.

Alfred: Your injuries are too sizable to ignore, Master Wayne.

Bruce: I'm fine, Alfred!

Bruce tried to sit up again, only for a bullet from Jason to go flying by his head.

Jason: Don't even think about it.

Bruce looked around, each of his Bat-Family determined to make sure he stayed in bed. He knew he couldn't argue with them; they had all seen what the Joker was capable of. He took a deep breath, his ribs aching with the effort as he laid back down. Alfred smiled as the others relaxed.

Bruce: What's the damage?

Alfred: You were unconscious for 3 days. Your ribs are all shattered, your spine is fractured, you had internal bleeding, and several vital muscle fibers are torn to sunder. It is, quite frankly, a miracle that you're still alive. You'll need several months of rest and maybe a full years worth of rehabilitation to even get back on your feet.

Bruce: And Gotham?

Barbara: Joker's unleashed every super-villain, big and small, out and into Gotham.

Dick: From Blüdhaven to Gotham, every bad guy besides Cobblepot has been running amok in all the cities in and around Gotham. Oracle's been keeping tabs on them.

Barbara: The GCPD has had their hands full, but they're doing the best they can. We've been working with them to keep the peace.

Tim: And we've been trying to find leads on the Joker. So far, it's a dead end. He's gone dark.

Kate: But we won't let this stand. Gotham needs us now more than ever. We're all in this together.

Bruce nodded, now more painfully aware of the gravity of the situation.

Barbara: We'll let you rest. Everyone, we're this meeting moving into the Batcave. Let's go.

Everyone gave their goodbyes and get wells to Bruce before leaving to follow Barbara, Alfred was about to leave but Bruce spoke up.

Bruce: Alfred.

Alfred: Do you require something Master Wayne?

Bruce: Some water. And go to the Batcomputer, I made a plan for when something like this happens. Listen closely, I'll tell you the activation code.

******

Down in the Batcave, Barbara was laying out everything that was happening across the city. Screens showed chaos on every street corner, the sirens of the Gotham City Police Department echoing through the speakers. The Bat-family huddled around, each one looking at the monitors with a mix of anger and determination.

Barbara: We have a lot to do, so we'll be stretched completely thin. We need to prioritize our targets.

Jason: The Joker's the top priority. He's the one pulling the strings here.

Tim: That's if he shows his face, neither him nor his goons have been seen.

Kate: This is just a show for him. He loves watching the chaos from the shadows.

Harper: Two-Face is gathering funds, Mr. Freeze is stealing isotopes again, and Bane's got the whole underground on lock-down.

Dick: We also got Firefly patrolling the skies, he's been making threats that he'll blow up captured hostages if a single Superhero flys into Gotham, so I can't call the Titans, Justice League, or Jason's Outlaws.

Cassandra pulled up a live feed of the four major Justice League Members, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash, all sitting at the Watch Tower

Cassandra: They even made threats to blow up their hostages, unless Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the Flash keep under constant watch via live stream. And our bad guys are smart, they'll notice if the video is just looping.

Flash changed his seating position, showing the video was a live stream.

Barbra: So, we're on our own.

Luke: In a town, full of criminals, mutants, aliens, and super villains, being on our own is kind of our thing.

As they continued planning and analyzing the situation, Alfred came from the elevator, no one noticing him as they were too focused on their work. Alfred walked up before inhaling deeply.

Alfred: Batcomputer! Activation Code 467-828-485-120.

Alfred's sudden announcement startled the Bat-Family. Suddenly, the Bat-Computer responded.

Bat-Computer: Acknowledged. Batman is unable to continue Fightin Crime in Gotham. Activation of Agamemno Contingency, "Extended Family", granted. What is the situation?

Barbara looked at Alfred with an astonished look, but Alfred simply smiled, telling the Bat-Family that this was just one of Bruce's Contingency plans.

Barbara: Agamemno Contingency? What's that?

Bat-Computer: Agamemno Contingency, a series of plans, back up plans, anti-back up plans set encase a dire situation occurs.

Jason: What is the plan for, 'Extended Family'?

Bat-Computer: 'Extended Family' for encase that Batman is unable to fight the crime families of Gotham. Batman has prepared several ready and willing individuals who wish to protect Gotham. Depending on the threat, a few or all of the Extended Family members will be called to take up the fight. So, what is the situation?

The Bat-Computer awaited the explanation for the situation as the room grew quieter. The gravity of the situation had settled in and Alfred cleared his throat.

Alfred: The Joker has escaped and released a widespread pandemonium across Gotham. Every villain we have ever faced is now out and about. The GCPD are overwhelmed and we need all hands on deck to manage the chaos. The primary objective is preventing major villains and ensuring civilian safety. The Joker has gone into hiding so he has become a minor objective until he reveals himself or his next move.

The Bat-Computer began to process the information Alfred gave it, the screens flickering as it scanned through the database of Gotham's criminals and their known locations. The room was tense as the Bat-Family listened to the low hum of the computer's analysis.

Bat-Computer: Acknowledged, Threat Level is set to 'Joker' Level. Initiating 'Extended Family' protocol. Activating All Extended Family Members.

Suddenly, the Bat-Computer's entire map of Gotham lit up like a Chrismas Tree with bat symbols that would then begin flash orange.

Jason: Holy hell... Bruce has been busy. How many 'Extended Family' members are we talking about here?

Damian was silently counting as more just kept popping up on the map, his eyes widening.

Damian: I've up to at least 14.... 15...

Stephanie: Wow, I didn't know we had so many...extended family members.

Tim: Well, given that Bruce adopts kids and the occasional adult into his family, this shouldn't be so surprising.

The room grew more tense as the bat-symbols kept flashing. The Agamemno Contingency had been set in place for a time like this, and now it was in full effect. The "Extended Family" was a network of allies that Bruce had selected. However, there wasn't any information on them popping up. Tim and Babs looked at each other before Tim spoke.

Tim: Let's see...

Barbara: ... If Bruce...

Tim & Barbara: ... Has any intel on these guys...?!

Tim immediately took the left console of the computer.

Tim: I'll run background checks on anyone Bruce has been visiting and tracing these signals to the receiving ends.

Barbra: Good idea, I'll hack into the GCPD database and see if there's any intel on these people that Bruce has been keeping tabs on.

Jason: Wonder if these guys are skilled fighters or meta-humans.

Duke: It would be nice to not be the only meta-human here for a change.

Tim and Babs continued to search for Intel as the signals continued to pulse.

To Be Continued...
