 Yōkai are sprits from Japanese culture inside of common objects. They can be harmful or helpful. The peaceful ones are called Nigi-Mitama, they bring good harvests, heath, and good heath.  The harmful ones are called Ara-Mitama, they cause bad harvests, disease in crops,  animals, or even humans. They can be converted into Nigi-Mitama in a process called Chinkon.
