
Magic
Oh yes. Magic. The cool shit.
Anyone can learn magic in the universe of Stuck. It's often encouraged to learn it. And there are 3 ways to learn magic.
1.) Learning it through school, books, teachings, scrolls, and studying. If you learn magic this way this makes you a wizard.
2.) Being able to cast magic from birth / being born with magical potential or abilities. Having inherent magical abilities makes you a sorcerer.
3.) Being a Hybrid. This means you're born with powers/magical abilities, but your powers are tied to what hybrid you are.
Wizards
Wizards are the most common magic users and most wizards tend to stick to the lower, more useful spells. Telekinesis, teleportation, and some low level elemental spells. Wizards can go to magic school to peruse higher magical education. Wizards can become insanely powerful but they can not unlock the highest level spells because they involve a spiritual connection. This means only sorcerers can access these sort of spells. They need to go through lots of training, and studying in order to learn higher level spells.
Sorcerers
Sorcerers are rare in this universe and are actually considered a race. Sorcerers are born with inherent magical ability and thus can cast spells easier. They can access the highest level spells because they have internal spiritual energy. Sorcerers are very traditional and have lots of rituals, traditions, and customs. When sorcerers cast spells their spells are slightly more powerful. Sorcerers need higher magical education and training if they want to cast higher level spells.
Hybrids
Hybrids are considered a race in this universe. They are born with magical abilities but are no where near as traditional and culturally tied to their race as sorcerers. Hybrids powers are tied to what type of hybrid they are. For example, mudkip hybrids can only learn magic that mudkips are able to cast. Such as Quentin's ability to cast Pokémon moves. This goes for all types of hybrids. Depending on what your hybrid is, you are tied to different magic. Like mudkips have all the moves a mudkip can learn, baccas have heightened fighting and survival abilities, ghosts can phase through walls and posses things. If hybrids want to learn magic outside their inherited abilities, they must study and learn magic through schooling. Like a wizard.
When you learn magic you can choose to specialize in certain types of magic. Specializing means you focus on a few magic types, making your spells stronger, more potent, and effective.
There is a tier system to spell intensity. There are—
1.) lower level spells. This is your basic stuff. Like levitation, illumination, teleportation, etc.
2.) medium level spells. This is mainly reserved for offensive magic. Spells that can actually hurt people. These spells mainly consist of elemental types. (Fire, water, electricity, etc.)
3.) high level spells. These are more complicated and require lots of concentration and training. They require training because they usually have recoil affects. This level of spell is reserved for things like huge and powerful attack spells, mutation, and transformation spells.
You don't need a wand to cast spells. All you need is concentration and a few hand movements. Depending on the level of spell, there can be a number of side effects and consequences for what type of spell you use. If you cast too many spells at once, or if you cast an extremely powerful spell, your energy will drain. So magic users must learn how to manage their spell usage and energy consumption.
There are many, many types of magic. They fall under different categories. Many of them are elemental. I got inspired by an rp server that I'm a part of. So most of the powers and magic comes from those.
Nature (your garden variety Avatar stuff):
- Fire
- Water
- Ice
- Earth (this includes animals, flora, actual dirt)
- Lightning
Universe:
- Celestial (stars, constellations, basically anything space)
- Metal/Crystals
- Light
- Darkness
- Mythology
- Sound and Gravity
Artistic:
- Emotions/Colors
- Dreams
- Psychic
- Illusions
Health
- Viruses
- Shadows
- Supernatural
Traditional Magics:
- Necromancy
- Eye magic
- Quantum Magic (extremely rare)
- Mutation
- Deception magic (voice mimicry, probability, appearance changing)
- Healing Magic
