Chapter Fifty-Four
Jonas
I wake up to the sound of people talking, and the smell of... I take a deep breath... bacon? Turning, I look over to see Iris, still asleep, from where I carried her in last night after she fell asleep in my arms. I kiss her forehead, before joining my family and the civilians around the fire. "Morning," my brother says, handing me a plate. I take it.
"Thanks." I rub my eyes, not used to hangovers. Bently passes me a few pills, before his phone rings. I swallow them as he answers the call, walking away. A few minutes later, after I've eaten, I feel a pair of arms wrap around me, and a pair of lips kiss my cheek. "Good morning, my love," I say to Iris, who takes the seat next to me. Colton hands her a plate, which she declines. "Any word?" I ask as Bently walks back to us. He shakes his head.
"I'm going for a walk," Colton says. A grab his arm as he passes. "Alone." He shakes my hand off and continues down the path Bently emerged from.
"I'll go," Iris says after a minute.
"Do you want back up?" Aiden asks. Iris shakes her head.
"He needs someone to yell at. But thank you." Iris walks away.
