The Big Game: Part II

Millie didn't have to wait long. As soon as he stepped on the court, his eyes went right to her. His face lit up in a smile when he saw her and he gave her a big wave. Millie perked right up, grinned with all her teeth and waved back with both hands.

"Dial it back," Misty whispered in her ear. "You're doing too much."

Realizing her sister was right, Millie immediately slumped back and flipped her hair like she was disinterested. It didn't quite worked as planned as her shift in demeanor was painfully obvious. But Will just laughed and shook his head at the over-correction thinking it was cute.

"Dammit," Millie said to herself. "Well there go my chances."

"Don't be ridiculous," Misty said with a dismissive wave of her hand. "You're fine."

"Nope it's over," Millie said, standing up. "He thinks I'm an idiot. Let's get out of here."

Misty grabbed Millie's wrist and jerked her back down to her seat.

"Sit back down," Misty hissed. "He doesn't think you're an idiot. Look, he's looking at you right now."

Millie turned her head back to the court. The tip off was about to start and sure enough he was looking right at her. Just before the referee threw the ball in the air, he smiled and gave her a wink. Then he jumped in the air and knocked the ball back to his teammate. A sense of satisfaction came over Millie. Maybe Misty was right.

Millie kept her eyes on Will the entire game. She even found herself enjoying herself a little. Even with their lack of basketball knowledge, Misty and Millie could tell it was an intense game. Whistles were being blown left and right and elbows were flying everywhere. The home team was up, then they were down, then they were up again. The crowd exploded at every basket, steal, and break away. It was exhausting.

They were nearing the half and the game was all tied up. If they thought the game was intense before, they had no idea what they were in for. Thirty seconds remained on the clock. The opposing teams point guard dribbled the ball down the court. Will got into a defensive position and kept his eyes focused intensely on his every move. The point guard darted to the right and then to the left, but wherever he went, Will went with him. There was no getting past him. The point guard did his best to keep the ball close, but he was running out of steam. Will waited for just the right moment and then dove in for the kill. He charged at him and knocked the ball from his hands, pushing him to the ground in the process. The crowd exploded as Will sprinted down the court and dunked the ball with ease.

The other team's point guard slammed his fist on the ground with anger in his eyes. He forcefully pushed himself up and ran straight towards Will. While Will was busy celebrating, the point guard came up behind him, grabbed his arm and aggressively threw him to the ground. The crowd booed as Will rolled on the ground holding his ankle and wincing in pain. Will's teammates immediately rushed the guy, ready to fight. The other team stepped in to defend their teammate, pushing and shoving anyone who came close to him. Before they knew it, there was an all out brawl.

"What the hell was that?!" Millie exclaimed, angered by the turn of events.

Millie was absolutely seething. How dare he hurt Will like that. She shot up from her seat, her fists clenched and her brow furrowed. Her anger rose as she watched his coach pull him away from the fight and usher him out into the hall.

"Oh, he's going to pay for that," she mumbled to herself before storming off.

"Millie wait -" Misty said trying to stop her sister. But it was no use. She was too far gone.

Millie followed him out to the hallway full of anger and determination.

"Hey asshole!" She shouted once she saw him.

He turned to her with confusion. He raised his eyebrow and pointed to himself as if to say "me?"

"Yeah you!" She yelled as she stomped towards him.

When she got close enough to him, she grabbed him by the collar and got right up in his face.

"I don't know who you think you are, but no one pushes the people I care about around like that, got it? You're nothing but a pathetic little dirt bag who'll never amount to anything, you hear me?"

"Whatever," he said shrugging her off. "It's just part of the game."

He pushed her hands away, shook his head and then just walked off like it was nothing. His dismissive attitude only made Millie that much angrier. She could feel herself getting out of control, but she didn't care. He had hurt Will and she wasn't going to let him get away with it.

She gathered all her strength and channeled all her energy as she focused in on the back of his jersey. She planted both her feet and then raised her hand out in front of her. Her face scrunched in concentration before she aggressively flung her hand to the side. An invisible force jerked at his jersey and shot him into the air and sent him flying into the wall. The plaster cracked, leaving a huge dent in the wall. The point guard bounced off the wall and fell to the ground with a heavy thud.

"Millie!" Misty exclaimed as she turned the corner into the hallway.

Finally she had caught up to her sister, but she was too late. Her eyes widened in horror from what she had just witnessed. Millie whipped her head around, shocked to see her sister behind her. As soon as she saw the look on Misty's face, she knew she messed up. Her stomach lurched as panic begun to set in.

"What the hell did you do?!"
