Chapter Six
Todomatsu sat straight up on the familiar green sofa in his home, bursting into a serious of rough, agitated coughs. Something must have gone wrong with his body while he was asleep, for when he coughed, a small pool of blood appeared in his hand.
The blood left a strong metallic taste in Todomatsu's mouth, causing him to feel nauseous. He had remembered Ichimatsu mentioned that blood tasted like bad orange juice, and the taste honestly wasn't too far off.
Shakily, he stretched his legs, resting his feet on the floor as he observed the room around him. Everything was as he had left it. He was still surrounded in darkness, and the house seemed to be silent, too.
"There's a note on the table," the figure chuckled as he exited Todomatsu's body, pointing at a small piece of paper, folded a good ten times on the table.
"Did Choromatsu fold it..." Todomatsu sighed as he reached for the note, unfolding the simple, pressed down square. "because nobody else would go through the stupid effort.."
"Just read it," the figure chuckled, his wispy hand pointing at a sentence in the middle of the letter. Choromatsu had definitely written it.
"Dear! Todomatsu!! (Jyushimatsu added the exclamation points...sorry..) Since you were out late last night...(doing who knows what!) I have decided to allow you to rest, like the wonderful brother I am. We're all heading out to go into town today. Spring will be here before we know it! Karamatsu decided to stay home though. If you hear any loud crashes, it's probably just him falling off of the roof. Don't mind him.
~ Love, Choromatsu ^ω^
(Osomatsu added that last part...I swear!!!)"
"Jeez..." Todomatsu sighed, the blood from his hand soaking through the letter on the entire part about Karamatsu. "They're stupid.."
"Now that you know you're home all alone, the entire place is yours, what will you do with this body of mine?" the figure asked, its chilly fingers running up and down along Todomatsu's spine.
Another wave of nausea washed over the sixth son's body, bringing along other emotions as he thought about his memory.
"I-I need to use the restroom..." Todomatsu announced softly to nobody in particular.
Quickly, he flung open the living room door, dashing to the bathroom as he felt more and more nauseous.
Before he managed to reach to toilet, another gush of blood came spurting from his mouth, getting all over his chin and hoodie.
Unaware that some had already dripped on the carpet, Todomatsu literally threw himself to the floor in the bathroom. Choking up pools of blood, his heart began to beat at an alarming rate.
Todomatsu felt his ears ringing as he remembered the words his cardiologist had told him years ago before he had surgery.
"You are an experiment for us."
"An experiment...a life not worth actually saving...Worthless on the outside, just a scientists tool on the inside..." Todomatsu whimpered, grabbing the fabric of his hoodie closest to his heart. "I shouldn't be here still anyways...I wasn't meant to even last a year..."
Todomatsu stared at the bloody water in the toilet, breathing out of his mouth.
"Nothing seems to actually kill me though..." Todomatsu let out a forceful laugh as the figure exited his body.
More blood came up out of his mouth.
"You know?" the figure snorted. "Do you remember that razor blade? You know, the extras that are loose in Ichimatsu's drawer for his own personal reasons."
"Why does he even have extras?" Todomatsu sighed, glancing over at his brother's bathroom drawer.
"Have you ever tried to take out your emotions on yourself instead of others?" the demonic illusion questioned Todomatsu, a wide smirk on his transparent face.
"N-No..." Todomatsu stammered nervously. "I would ne-"
The disgusting, demon-like disgrace tossed one of the razor blades at Todomatsu, cutting him off.
"Try it, you'll love it..." the figure snorted.
"No!" Todomatsu nearly yelped, jumping away a little from the blade.
"Allow me to help you then," the figure sighed, entering Todomatsu once again.
This time, the figure went into the man's eyes, transforming his melancholy world into a bright, vivid one filled with a certain emotion. Though, it wasn't exactly relevant.
Suddenly, the razor blade on the floor, though it looked exactly the same, seemed to be smiling. Its sharp edges appeared absolutely welcoming, as if Todomatsu was seeing a long lost friend.
And what does one do to a friend they still love, despite having not seen them in years? Embrace them, make them feel welcomed.
Todomatsu pushed up the sleeve to his hoodie and grabbed the blade with a firm grip.
His arm felt numb as he ran the blade lightly across his pale, bare skin. Blood rose to the surface of his skin, seeping out of the small slit in his arm.
The scent of his own blood caused Todomatsu to feel quite lightheaded, but in a good way.
Todomatsu ran the blade across his skin again and again, pushing harder each time as he did such.
Before long, his entire arm was covered in blood.
Just as Todomatsu raised his hand once more, preparing to crash down a final time on his now destroyed skin, a firm hand coming from behind grabbed his clean arm.
The figure immediately left Todomatsu's eyes, moving back to his heart to keep it beating.
The sixth son felt tears well up in his eyes, shocked by the sudden pain he felt. His arm ached as he heart raced in shock.
Todomatsu had been caught.
His clean arm was still being held in the air with the blade, too.
Trembling, Todomatsu craned his neck around, only to meet the disappointed eyes of his older brother, Karamatsu.
Todomatsu had forgotten that he was still home.
"I am so..." Karamatsu stopped, letting out a deep sigh as he snatched the blade from his brother's hand. "I am so disappointed in you..."
Karamatsu blinked his eyes at Todomatsu as he put the blade in his back pocket, preparing to throw it away later.
