Turn of Events

Today is the day. The day I lose the love of my life. She is getting married to someone else in spite of loving me and what I am doing about it… Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I am here at the bar in broad daylight with my luggage packed, and my ticket tucked inside my jacket whereas she must be reciting her vows to her groom promising to be his for the rest of her life.

It is very difficult for me to move away from here, from my family and my workplace. The place I was born and abandoned. I have come a long way from being a weak orphan kid who was not at all aware of his parents to a CEO of one of the leading company. She was my strength then and still is. More than that, It will be just impossible to ever see her with someone else creating a happy family which I crave for.

"Refill please." I tap my empty glass to the bartender, who give me a look. I had recovered from the accident, but my arm still was in a support sling. I glance around myself and find very few broken soles like me who wants to find solace in liquor. There is this girl sitting two seats away from me, she keeps staring and playing with her wedding ring. I feel there is trouble in her married life. I sighed and looked at the bartender who filled my glass.

"Scotch for me, please." I heard someone taking a seat beside me. I turned to him as I found the voice a bit familiar. I got the shock of my life when he turned out to be Liam. I stared at him in disbelief. What the fuck is he doing here?

"Wh..what the hell are you doing here?" I inquired.

"Took time to find you." He replied without looking at me. Why was he now searching me. Why has he left Lia and is here? What the hell is going on?

"Why. Are. You. Here?" I closed my eyes to restrain myself from yelling at him. His cold demeanor was frustrating.

He took out something from his pocket and slid it towards me while taking a sip from his drink. When he took back his hand, there sat a black ring box on top of the bar counter. I stared at it and then at him with my brows furrowed. I was utterly confused or you can say in shock.

"What is this?" I didn't dare touch that box. Why the hell is he giving it to me?

"Take it and marry her" he said flatly as if he were offering me a cookie

'WHAT I screamed, but no voice came out.

"W...what do..do you mean." I managed to stutter.

"You love her, she loves you, so you should be the one marrying her. Isn't it." He glared at me with disgust, hurt fury and what not. He looked calm and composed, but there was a huge turmoil in his eyes.

Just a sec. How does he know?

"It...its no.. Nothing like that. You are misunderstanding something." I paled.

"I heard everything." He murmured.

"Umm..." I had no words to reply. He heard it!

"2 weeks back at the hospital, I was there, and I heard whatever...was said. I...I so wanted to forget it and go on with this wedding...marry the girl I ..love so much..."he sighed heavily, blinking away the tears that gathered at the corner of his eyes.

"But, I couldn't, I can't just look through the whole thing..and pretend as if everything were okay...took me 2 weeks to make my heart ready to let her go..." He continued.

"So just take that ring and get the fuck out of here. Marry her and don't you dare hurt her." He concluded giving a death glare to me.

"I...I can't...does Lia know you are here?
Does she know about this? Is this some prank or a joke?"

"No"

"She will kill me"

"Go, Don't make me regret my decision." He rolled his eyes at me.

"Listen, one chance...just one. If you ruin it. I am having her back." After saying that, he didn't once look at me and kept drinking. My whole body had gone stiff, petrified. I just sat there with my mouth agape.

"GO" He hollered, making my flinch

I grabbed the box and ran like my life depended on it. I never ever thought that my life would take such a turn. Sure, my heart was going crazy thinking how would Lia react to this.

------_---------

Lia Anderson.

"Where the hell is he?" Viktor yelled through his gritted teeth. He is hardly holding himself together, almost on the edge of going berserk. Jia and saba were sitting beside me on the beach chair, holding my hands. I was holding myself from drowning in tears. It's been two hours that Liam has vanished. By now, we would be married if he had come. His mobile is switched off and there is no trace of him. His friends are going through every place he could possibly be at. I on the other hand is all decked up in my bridal attire and calming racing heart saying again and again that Liam would never abandon me that too on our wedding day.  He was a bit distant and aloof in past few days, always lost in thoughts, but I never in my wildest dream ever imagined this situation.

His mom kept apologizing to me and Viktor and assured us that his son is not at all irresponsible and he loves me a lot. My hreat feared for his wellbeing because there is no reason for him to be not here beside me, taking our vows.

Just then I saw Richard running towards me. He said he won't attend the wedding, so why is he here? To mock me? He came and stood in front of me, breathing heavily. I got up from my seat and all of the others gathered around us. He straightened and opened his palm in front of me that was holding a ring box. The same ring box that had my wedding ring. He opened it to reveal the same ring which Liam and I had picked for our wedding band.

I furrowed my brows at looked at Richard, not understand how this ring landed with him.

"He knows. He gave me this." He whispered. He knows. He went to Richard and gave him the ring. Oh, Liam!!

"I want to talk to him. Is he alright?" Richie nodded his head and called somewhere and asked for Liam Copper. He passed the phone to me after a few seconds.

"What the hell, Liam?" I whined.

"Lia" he sniffled, his voice was so sad

"I don't know where you are, Liam but you better get back here and marry me." I fumed with tears running down my cheeks.

"You don't want that, Lia, accept it. Love of your life is in front of you. Marry him." He replied.

"No Liam, I won't at the cost of your happiness." I wept on the phone.

"And I won't marry you at the cost of your and that bastards happiness. Marry him, lia, for me. I want you to be happy"

"Liam..." I quivered.

"See you soon, sweetheart. We will meet again. Bye." He cut the call after that and I looked at Richard standing in front of me.
