"You will be my maid of honor at my wedding." I heard Lia say with excitement as soon as I entered Bro's office to check on him. Wow, that was… fast.

"Whose getting married?" I asked, with my focus on Lia. I saw Jia and gave her a beautiful smile.
"Hey Jia," I greeted her, which she returned with a tight smile. What's wrong? You lead her to something and leave unexplainablely. What else do you expect. My inner self jabbered. She is a very nice girl, she helped bro, even gave him CPR. That was something. She went to hospital too and remained there until I made there.

"Who is getting married?" I asked again.

"I am."  Lia said, as if challenging me. So, she is serious about that lamb.

"Why are both my siblings here early in the morning" Bro asked growing irritated.

I saw Jia leaving the office. I went towards "Bro You need to rest..."

"Exactly my point, but he won't listen, will he?" Lia spoke, glaring at Bro.

"I am perfectly fine, you both can leave and get back to work." He ignored us and commenced working. I think he needs some girl in his life to make him live a bit.

Soon, Lia went to Jia's desk and both of them started talking. I, too, made my way to my office. I don't know why I was getting so stressed about Lia and lamb. I took hold of the remote control and played on my Xbox.

"Hey" Sofia came in interrupting my game.

"Hey" I replied, still fighting my opponent.
She came and stood in front of the screen.

"Move Sofi, I will die." She huffed.
"I just came to invite you to the wedding." She placed the card on the coffee table.
Why is everyone getting married around me.

"Hmm" I hummed in acknowledgement.

"I am going to invite the rest of other, do you need me for anything?" She asked.

"No, you can leave." I stared at the card.

Soon the preparation of the wedding started and as part of groomsmen, I was given few responsibilities and there were rehearsals too. Bro was best man, so he had to walk with the maid of honor. No doubt she was a bitch, but Bro was not complaining. Jia had to walk with Rashid's friend. And me The Richard Anderson, was walking with Lia. She is not on talking terms with me, but still, I was happy to walk with her. I remembered our last fight that made us drift away.

Flashback back

"Look for yourself. Now, will you believe me?" Lia had barged into our small office where I was doing my work. Bro had just started this firm after recovering from the accident. Lia had thrown photos of Erna with some guy.

"What is all this?" I fumed.

"Proof. You wanted proof, right about Erna cheating you. So, here it is." She  gestured towards the photos. I took a glance at them and closed my eyes. Can't this girl be a bit discreet?

"I don't believe them, what if they are fabricated." I argued, fully aware of the truth.

"I personally took them. I saw her with different guys with my own eyes. Still, you don't believe me? Are you fucking crazy?" She shouted.

"Look Lia I don't what to talk about it. I l…love her and I want to be with her." I tried to defend Erna. I don't love her but at that time she was my girlfriend, though we had an open relationship.

"I can't believe this. Can't you see, she is fucking cheating on you." She shrieked, unable to believe what I was saying.

"I don't care, and why it matters to you? What your benefit in this?" I still insisted holding my stand.

"Benefit? I just want my best friend to see the reality and put some sense in his head." She was almost on the verge of pleading.

"Are you jealous, Lia?"

"WHAT?'

"You are jealous, right? Jealous of Erna, jealous of our relationship, jealous that I have  someone to love and cherish while you don't have anyone who loves you..."

"What...are you saying?" Her eyes filled with tears.

"You are jealous Lia because you want to be in her place. You want to be with..." I still continued to speak rubbish.

"Shut up...JUST SHUT UP.
you know what? You deserve her, and what you don't deserve is my friendship, our relationship that we had shared since childhood. You... ruined it. So that's...bye...from me. I ...will never....in.. Interfere with your…life."  she stuttered with tears wetting her cheeks. I so wanted to wipe them off and hug her.

She had been true to her word. She even moved out of the house and started staying with her friends from work. That was the day I regret the most. I was ok with everything because I always want her to be happy in life… I know she liked me…even loved me, but I was not the right guy for her. That's what I thought at that time, and keeping her away from me was best in her interest. My parents left me, they abandoned me, that affected me a lot so when girls used to throw themselves at me for my looks, I hogged the attention. I had been with so many girls. I was tainted...unfit for her. She moved on... She dated a few guys, but non were serious.
But now seeing her with someone else... seeing her in some other man's arms, getting married to him is making me go nuts.
