I walked into my house and slipped off my silver flats. It was finally summer, the only bully free time of my life! I just threw my backpack on the ground and set my lunchbox by the sink. My mom could unpack all of that!

I walked into the kitchen and my mom was cutting fruit. She looked up when she heard me come in, and said, " Hi pumpkin. How was school? Are you excited for summer?"

I haven't really told her about the bullying. Should I? I don't really know. She thinks everything is fine, and I would like to keep it that way.

"School was great, and I can't wait for summer!" I casually responded. This time, that was actually true.

"Miss Kelly and I have a surprise for you," she cheered. "For having a great school year, you and Paige are having a sleepover tonight!"

I gasped in awe. I was so excited! "Thanks mom! I'm going to pack right now!"

I rang the old doorbell just as my mom drove away. I waved to her, and she waved back. I was ecstatic! Paige and I have not had a sleepover in a while now, and I pretty much only see her at lunch or when she helps me off the ground. Paige came to the door and the familiar scent of peaches filled my nostrils.

"Hi Chlobird," Paige chanted. "Ready for an epic night? Cause I am!"

"Am I ever!" I shouted, and we bolted up to her room.

We spent the whole night stalking random accounts on Paige's instagram and talking about secrets.

It honestly was like summer was calling my name.

It was almost 10:30 when Miss Kelly came upstairs with chips for us. "You girls having fun?"

"Absolutely!" I responded. And it was 100% true.

"You girls should be getting to bed soon, it's pretty late," she told us.

"Ya, ya mom, we will go to bed," Paige muttered in her annoyed voice.

Her mom then left.

Paige watched the door close behind her mom then turned to me excitedly and whispered, "One more thing before we go to bed. I've liked someone this whole year, but I haven't had the guts to tell you."

My eyes lit up. "Whoisitwhoisitwhoisit?" I asked shaking her leg.

She put both her hands up. "Okay, okay... I like... Braeden!"

And then my heart sunk.
