Rajveer

It had been days since Roshni had gone missing. I searched for her everywhere, but my efforts were futile. I couldn't find even a single clue as to where she had been taken. I didn't know what condition she was in. I didn't know if she was well fed there, if she was sleeping properly or even bathing. Of course she wasn't doing any of those, she was not there for vacation, she was kidnapped and that was the reality. She must be very miserable wherever she is, waiting for me to safe her and here I was clueless. Her parents and friends were also very worried about her and never failed to visit the house each day for new updates about her whereabout. Isha's boyfriend gave me his word that he would do everything in his power to save my wife, but up till date, no improvements yet. I couldn't rely on him anymore, his best was not enough. I needed to find my wife and quick. She's pregnant for God's sake!

My anger and frustration were fully unleashed now. I couldn't keep them at bay anymore. The thought of not being able to tackle her kidnappers was killing me. I will kill whoever is involved in this. I will make them pay for each and every single tears of hers. Didn't they at least consider the fact she's pregnant? Oh no! I hope they are both alright.

The pain of not being able to do anything, but search hopefully everyday was slowly eating me up. What kind of a husband was I? I was miserable for only depending on the police officers to find her, but what could I do? I searched every nook and corner of the city myself to find her whereabout, but it was all in vain, I found no clues, but I promised myself to never stop until I had in my arms again and deal with her abductors.

I was in my room drowning in frustration when I heard my cellphone vibrating and ringing on the nightstand. I didn't want any disturbance, so I rejected the call, but the called didn't give up and called again immediately I kept the phone back on the nightstand. This time around, I picked the phone up and received for an inexplicable feeling. I heaved a sigh and waited for the unknown caller to speak up, but when he didn't, I did. Who knows maybe he had a clue about where my wife could be.

"Who's—"

"Raj it's me," came the angelic voice of my wife, my sunshine. The voice I longed to hear over and over again. The voice I missed for the past few days. Hearing her voice once more made me realize just how much I missed her immensely. I could never be mistaken by the voice. It was definitely my wife's.

"Are you there? It's me Roshni," she said. She didn't have to though. I could recognize her voice among millions.

I couldn't believe I was finally talking to her after she was kidnapped and asked her if she was alright, where they took her, If our baby was fine, but she didn't know where they took her. She just pleaded with me to save her soon and I promised her I would and that she shouldn't worry.

"Do you know who had  kidnapped?" I asked one of the questions I so badly wanted to know the answer to. I will definitely make him pay for all the tears he's caused us.

"Yes I do—" her voice cracked. The feeling of eagerness to know the mastermind of her kidnap consumed me. "Sam, It's Sam. She hired these men to kidnap me. It's all her doing, she is really-" she didn't get to finish what she was saying when I heard her scream and the line went dead.

"Hello!! Hello ROSHNII... Don't you dare hurt her!!" I yelled and threw the phone against the wall in frustration when I didn't hear her voice anymore. What made her scream that way? Were the kidnappers torturing her? I didn't care if I was acting like a lunatic, I wanted to get her back on the line. She has to tell me where they took her, how she and our baby is, if they were torturing her there... There were so many things I wanted to inquire from her. The things that never failed to give me sleepless nights ever since she went missing and Sam...

Mom and dad, together with Sam came rushing into my room. They must have heard me yelling over the phone.

"Did I just hear you screaming your wife's name?" Mom asked.

"Any clues about her whereabout yet?" Dad inquired.

"Please tell us Raj," Sam spoke next. My neck instantly snapped to her direction and Roshni's voice started echoing in my mind nonstop like a mantra.

Sam, it's Sam. She hired these men to kidnap me.

Sam, it's Sam. She hired these men to kidnap me.

Sam, it's Sam. She hired these men to kidnap me.

Sam, it's Sam. She hired these men to kidnap me.

Sam, it's Sam. She hired these men to kidnap me.

All I could see looking at Sam was the devil himself. How worse could Sam get! She crossed her limits a long time ago and still going further.

I lunged towards her in fury and grabbed her neck in between my hands, wriggling and squeezing the life out of her. I didn't know what I was doing anymore, all I wanted was to strangle her right there. I wanted to send her to her grave for everyone's peace of mind. She was becoming wild and hard to tame. Someone had to stop her before she would decide to result in murdering people soon. I had no doubt she was the mastermind when Roshni told me because she was capable of doing that, she was pure evil. The girl who I trying to strangle wasn't my sister, she killed her and possessed her body, mind and soul. Sam was way too innocent.

"Rajjj," dad yelled, snapping me back to reality. My hands were now loosely around her neck as I realized she was choking and gasping for air. Dad roughly pushed me away from her and got in between us.

"What was that all about RAJVEER! Were you planning to kill her?" Dad yelled, Hus voice laced with immense fury. I could see the anger vividly in his eyes as he spoke. He glared at me for some seconds before averting his gaze to Sam who was behind him.

"Are you alright?" He asked, caressing her cheeks with his palms.

Mom who had been standing there all the while watching the scene unfold, cleared her throat and intervened. "How dare you Raj! She could have died and—"

"And what mom? WHAT?-" I cut her off. "- what would have happened? I wanted to strangle her, that was my aim."

Mom and dad stared at me in complete shock and disbelief. I sounded like a psycho. My emotions ran wild, I couldn't control it anymore and tears took over and I sat down.

"Raj, son please talk to us. What happened and why did you react that way towards your sister?" Mom asked, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. What did she want to hear? Her daughter was responsible for her daughter in law's disappearance? My wife!

I stood up and rushed towards Sam again. I wasn't done with her. Dad got between us acting like a shade to protect Sam from me. He placed a hand on my chest, stopping me from going any closer to his daughter.

"Go downstairs NOW!" Dad commanded Sam. She got up and did as he said immediately.

"I demand an answer from you this instant! What was that all about?" Dad yelled, all traces of patience gone.

"Please answer us Raj," mom chipped in, seeing how broken I looked.

"I...I spoke to Roshni just now—" I started.

"Really? Is she alright?" Mom asked.

"Where is she? Why isn't she here?" Dad asked.

Why isn't she here? Was that even a question?

"She's not here because she's been kidnapped. Have you forgotten so soon or you're just pretending to? Alright I'm reminding you now, so-"

"Watch the way you speak to us. We are your parents!" Mom reprimanded. I hung my head low. I didn't even remember the last time I spoke that way to my parents. With Roshni being away, I wasn't my self anymore.

I realized my mistake and apologized to them. "I'm sorry mom, dad. I'm just so frustrated with the fact that my wife is out there somewhere with some group of unknown men. I don't even know the condition she's in." A lone tear fell from the corner of my eye.

Dad placed a hand on my shoulder reassuringly. "What did she say? Any clues?"

"She said she doesn't know where they took her," I replied, running an angry hand through my hair. It was frustrating and agitating. She's pregnant!

"Calm down son, I'm sure she at least left a clue," mom said.

"Oh yes she did! She told me who exactly got her kidnapped. You'd be surprise to know-" mom and dad exchanged perplexed look. "-it's Sam. Do you both now understand why I wanted to eliminate her from the surface of the earth?" I asked.

"Raj!" Mom yelled. "-how could you accuse your sister like that! I know for a fact she's done terrible things in the past, but that doesn't mean she's capable of abduction. She's my daughter and I know her well, her thinking...everything!" Mom defended.

"I'm sorry to say this to you mom; you don't know her well. She's grown into a devil and everything I said wasn't and accusation, Roshni told me herself. She told me Sam masterminded her kidnap. She can never lie about thus, I trust her completely." I averted my gaze to dad, he was still standing where he was speechless. I knew he believed Roshni's words because he had a look of disappointment and betrayal on his face.

"Oh my! Sam?"

"Yes mom, she's behind everything that happened—" I paused and heaved a long sigh before proceeding  "- I have come to a conclusion on what to do."

"What do you mean?" Dad asked.

"I'm sorry mom, dad, but I won't let Sam go unpunished this time. She will show us where she's keeping Roshni and..."

"And?" Dad asked.

I sighed again. It would be hard for my parents to take my decision, but it was all for the best. For Sam.

"I will file a report against Sam for kidnap!"
