Emma's POV

"Mom, stop fussing. You look fine."

Henry placed the photos I had got printed on the end table as I fixed myself up in the mirror in the living room.

"I just, want to make a good first-ish impression."

"You don't have to. Just try to get through to him."

"I've tried Henry."

"The photos are a good idea. Don't give up hope."

"Your a really good kid you know that?"

I kissed his forehead, and then he sat down on the couch beside Sophie.

"Are you sure you want to babysit her tonight?"

"Of course, it will be fun."

I smiled at him before going upstairs and lifting my shoes. I was wearing the same red dress I wore at our very first date to see if it would give any sparks of memories. I slipped on my black heels then grabbed my coat.

"Okay kid, I'll not be too long. If anything happens just call me okay?"

"Yes mom, you've been through it millions of times. Now go have fun."

I kissed both him and Sophie good bye then headed outside to get into my car.

Killian was meeting me at the restaurant. Again it was our first date restaurant. I hadn't been inside Diamond Avenue since the night before me and Killian's wedding. But when I arrived it looked the exact same inside.

Turns out I had arrived before Killian so I sat alone at our table for a while and kept checking my phone every five seconds. He was late. God knows if he was even going to turn up.

After an hour of waiting, a waiter come up to me with a huge grin on his face.

"Miss? Are you waiting on someone or are you alone?"

"Alone. I'll have a glass of red wine please."

He stopped grinning and saw the disappointment on my face.

"Let me guess, your date let you down."

"Something like that."

"Here, a glass of wine on the house."

"Thank you."

I finished off my wine then put on my coat and headed outside. Just as I was about to get into my car, I saw someone leaning against a tree.

"Killian?"

"Emma, I-I."

"You didn't come inside?"

"No, here. I hope these make up for it."

He handed me a bouquet of red roses and I stared in awe.

"Your sweet."

"I know I let you down in there. But let me make up for it."

"Killian, I understand. You don't want to be in a relationship with me again. You don't have to pretend."

"That's true, but it doesn't mean I don't want to be your friend. If what you say is true, that we were married and have a family, I would never ruin that. Im a man with honour and i will still love those kids."

As he spoke I got lost in eyes like I always did. I distracted myself with the roses until he finished.

"Thank you, really."

"I'd like to see my daughter-"

"Sophie, her names Sophie."

"What a pretty name. Please, I'm here to help out."

I nodded and guided him to my car and we got inside. Driving to the house was weird as I hadn't done this with him since last year. I pulled at our driveway and took a deep breath.

"Come on."

"Your house looks stunning."

"Uh, thanks. Actually it was your choice."

"I must say I have good taste."

I laughed to myself and opened the front door and invited him inside. Henry was sitting on the couch just were I had left him, but this time he had Sophie sitting on his lap.

"Hey kid."

"Mom-Killian?"

"Hi."

Henry stood up with Sophie in his arms. I walked up to him and took her out of his arms.

"Dada, Dada."

Sophie held her arms out to him. It was the first time she had properly seen him since the shooting and the fact she recognised him broke my heart.

"Do you want to hold her?"

"Yeah-yes I do."

I carefully placed her into his arms and he gazed into her eyes. It was a truly heartwarming sight.

"Hello there little one. Your so pretty."

"I don't know if you've noticed but, she has your eyes, and your nose."

"Oh yeah, she does."

Out of nowhere Sophie wrapped her arms around Killian's neck and hung onto him. It surprised me and Killian at the same time. Killian eventually sat down on an armchair at the front of the house.

"Uh, want a cup of coffee?"

"Yes please."

I walked into the kitchen and Henry followed me. He sat down at the island whilst I made the coffee.

Within the five minutes I was in there, Sophie had fallen asleep on Killian. He hadn't noticed yet as he had his head buried into her little tuff of blonde hair, caressing the back of her head at the same time.

"Someone fell asleep."

"Oh I didn't even notice."

"Here take your coffee and I'll bring her up to her nursery."

"Ah I can do it. Could you show me where it is?"

"Upstairs, first door on your right."

"Thanks."

He ventured upstairs and I headed into the living room and placed our coffees in each end table. Just as i sat down I realised I had left the roses Killian gave me in the car. I quickly went outside, grabbed them and came back inside. I lifted my best vase from a closet in the kitchen and filled it with water before placing in the roses.

After ten minutes Killian still hadn't came downstairs. I started to get suspicious and went upstairs to check on him.

I creaked open Sophie's door and saw it was empty besides Sophie being in her crib. I freaked out and ran into every other room in the house before going up the other stairs to my room.

I swung open the door and found Killian sitting on the end of my bed looking through a photo album I left on a dresser.

"Emma-"

"Killian, what are you doing?"

"Uh, im so sorry I didn't meant to intrude."

"It's okay don't worry about it. It's your house as much as mine."

I say beside him and glanced at the photo album he was looking at. Our wedding album.

"Uh, I was curious."

"It alright."

"Your were very pretty I must say."

"Thank you."

I blushed as flicked through some of the pages with him.

"Look it's getting late, I know you probably want to get your boy and yourself to bed. I'll leave you now."

"Oh okay. And are you sure your okay with keeping Liam again tonight? You should be resting and recovering."

"Yeah yeah. He's comforting to have around."

We both walk downstairs and he grabbed his jacket. I opened the door for him and he glanced around the house one more time. I couldn't help myself but hug him before he left.

"By the way, I like what you did with the roses."

And within an instant he left the house and disappeared into the dark night leaving me in awe of his presence once again.
