Chapter 2
~Ambrose
I was sitting at the preacher bed side. I was thinking how and why I feel connected to him.
"Well, well, well looked at you the first day on Earth and you got the second best exorcist in the hospital," the black figure smirk.
"It wasn't me. It was the nun," I said, leaning back in the chair.
"Right but you seem very attach to him," the figure said, moving close to Cassius. I started to get very angry at the figure and his closeness to the exorcist.
"Yeah, he just seems familiar," I replied, trying to keep my cool.
"Well of course he does. He was the one who tried to convince to not to kill those people," My eyes went wide at the figure words. I looked back at the priest.
"Then why can't I remember," I growled.
"All in due time," the shadow man said. I heard fabric moving around. I looked towards the curtains and notice the figure was gone. I put my head in my hands.
"Don't do it please...Ambrose," I heard the exorcist voice. He whimpering about something. Cassius dream was getting worse.
"Cassius, hey, wake up," I said, gently waking him up. Cassius woke up a bit confused.
~Cassius
I woke up and saw that demon again. He looked worried about something.
"What are you looking at?" I asked weakly.
"Do you know you talk in your sleep?" He asked. I nodded, starring into his black and red eyes.
"What exactly did I say?" I asked, sitting up a bit more in the bed.
"Um... something along the lines of 'don't do it' and then you said my name," Ambrose said shyly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Why would I say... Never mind," I figure out who he was. I helped him when he was human and now he is a demon, "I'm so dumb," I muttered, not thinking he could hear me.
"What? You're not dumb," he spouted out.
"I didn't stop you from you," I whispered, putting my head down. I heard footsteps coming closer to me but they stopped.
"It was my choice, Cassius. Not yours," Ambrose whispered-yelled. I looked up seeing him starring at me. I was shock about how much emotion was behind the demon's eyes. I never knew a demon could be this emotional.
"You're absolutely right. I'm sorry," I apologized to him.
~Ambrose
I'm confused on why I care so much about Father Cassius.
"You don't have to apologize to me, Cassius. I understand," I said. I know this feeling and I hate it.
"No, I do, Ambrose. If I tried harder you would still be alive," Cassius uttered. I got up from the chair and sat on the bed. I hugged the exorcist.
"I don't blame you, Cassius. I'm glad that you tried," I whispered into his ear. I heard the door slide open and the nurse walked in.
"I'm glad to see you're awake, Father," she said, sweetly before checking his vitals, "All done," she said, walking out of the room.
"Well, I better get going," I whispered to Cassius. I let go of him but Cassius gripped tighten on my shirt, "Cassius, can you let go of me?" I asked him. Cassius shook his head, "And why not?"
"Be-because... forget it," Cassius said, letting go of me.
"Are you sure?" I asked him teasingly.
"Yes, now go do whatever demon's do," he said, shooing me out of the room.
"Okay," I smiled, walking away from him. I left the hospital room.
~Cassius
I watched as Ambrose left the room. I felt so embarrassed about my actions. I still don't have a clue of what came over me. The door opened again. I hoped it was Ambrose but it was just the nurse. I felt disappointed.
"So, he left?" the nurse asked.
"Yeah, he left. He has things to do," I reassured her. She nodded.
"He seems really worried about you," She said, looking me.
"I don't know though," I said, mostly to myself.
"Maybe, it's because he likes you," I jumped at the sound of her voice.
"I doubt it," I muttered, crossing my arms.
"I can see the way he looks at you," She smiled and walked out of the room.
I sighed, uncrossing my arms, "Why would he like me, anyways?" I thought, "I can't be with him in that way," I sighed again. I looked around the room to see if it would hold answers for me but of course there wasn't.
I heard a knock at the door and then it slides opened. My eyes trained on the demon. He gave me a warm smile.
"What is it?" I asked, sounding harsh then it was meant to.
"Just checking in on you," he said, sitting next to me.
"What is the purpose of that?" I asked him. Ambrose looked down at the floor, "Ambrose, what is your purpose?" I asked him again but my softly.
"I...I just want to understand why I feel so drawn to you. I know it has to do with when I was human," Ambrose fumbled over his words.
"I see. I guess the best course of action is helping you get your memories back," I stated, looking up at him.
"How?" He whispered, starring at me.
"I don't know but I have an idea," I said, hoping that it would work.
~Ambrose
"Tell me how?" I asked, jumping out of my chair. Cassius looked down at the blanket. He took a deep breath.
"We have to visit your old house and the cemetery," Cassius said with no emotion.
"Okay but when you're out of the hospital," I suggested, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Of course," he said, looking up at me with a sad smile.
~3 weeks later
Cassius was finally release from the hospital. We decide to walk to my old house. I felt scared.
"Um... Cassius are you sure this is a good idea?" I questioned, looking at the big, beautiful white house.
"Not really but it's the only thing that might help you get your memories back," Cassius said, walking up to the front door. I looked around with flashes of images coming in and out of sight.
"Cassius, can we leave now?" I asked, getting really scared.
"Not yet," he said, opening the door. I gulped and slowly followed Cassius into the vacant house, "Tell me how you feel?"
"Scared, isolated, cold, useless, and powerless," I said, starring ahead.
"Can you remember why?" Cassius asked.
"My mother told me that," I said, getting more images, flooding back, "I don't want to be here," I whimpered.
"Ambrose, you're safe," a voice said. I jumped.
"NO!" I screamed. I looked around trying to find something. I stopped when my eyes landed on Cassius.
"Breath, Ambrose, jus t breath," Cassius coo. I focus on Cassius. I eventually calmed down.
"Cassius... Did you know that I used to be abused," I asked, whipping away some tears.
"Yes," He said, walking closer to me.
"And you didn't tell me," I growled, backing away from him. He stopped.
"Would you believe me, if I did?" Cassius asked. I looked at him and then to the ground.
"Now, I know why you had that dream," I realized. He nodded, "I came to you for help. I know you said it before but I thought you was joking but you wasn't," I said.
"Yes and I don't joke when it comes to something this serous," Cassius said, looking at the floor.
"I'm glad that I had someone like you when I was alive," I said, walking towards him.
"I guess," He said, still looking at the floor, "Do you remember anything else?"
"Bits and pieces," I said, trying to focus on some memories.
"Tell me, what you remember?" Cassius asked, glancing up at me.
"Can we get out of here first? I really don't like it here," I asked him.
"Sure," He said. We walked out of the building when we heard someone screaming. I looked around and saw a middle age women with a terrified expression on her face.
"How are you alive?" She asked, walking closer to us.
"Ma'am calm down, please," Cassius said to the women.
"I saw his dead body," She cried. I shuddered at those words. I looked at Cassius.
"I understand but you have to calm down," he reassured her.
"But-but," she stuttered.
"It's alright," the exorcist said. She nodded and slowly walked away from us. I looked at Cassius and the looked back at where she was standing moments ago.
"She must of been terrified," I stated, looking at Cassius.
"She was the one who called me," Cassius muttered. I looked at him. I can tell he was upset about it.
"Did you speak at my funeral?" I asked, smiling at him. I was trying to lighten the mood but it didn't work.
"Yes, Ambrose. I did speak at your funeral," he whispered sadly.
"Di-did you cry?" I had to asked. Cassius nodded. I felt guilty that I did that to him.
~Cassius
The pain this demon put me through. I know how much needs someone and I don't want him to wonder around the streets. This might be the best option for him and me, that I have at the moment. First I have to talk to the head priest of the other churches.
"Ambrose, let's go," I order and started to walk away from the house.
"Okay but where to?" He asked, walking beside me.
"To the church," I simply said, walking down the street.
