6,230 A.S. Early Autumn
After three years, Jack and I got married and began to start a family.
   Our first and only child was Viserra, named after my mother. She was currently two and the cutest little thing to walk Du Weldenvarden, well in my opinion.
   "Raegel, can you watch Viserra? I have to go talk with the Elders." Jack told me, throwing her saddle on Fiercedawn's back.
   "Yes, I can." I replied to her, tickling Viserra, causing her to shriek with joy.
   "Thanks." She replied, and took off with Fiercedawn.
   "Can we go for a ride, Papa?" Viserra asked me, giving me her famous puppy dog eyes that were practically impossible to resist.
   "Sure, my little flower." I said, tickling her.
   Grabbing Oak's saddle, I placed it on his dark green back and tighten the straps.
   Viserra jumped up and down with glee.
   I picked her up and placed her on Oak's broad back, and climbed on behind her.
   I made sure to use the wrists straps on her ankles to keep her from falling off. Her mother would kill me if something happened to her.
   Oak jumped out of the window and flapped his leaf shaped wings as he fought gravity to gain altitude.
   Once in the air, Oak flew high over Ardwen Lake, the cool breezes wafting up from the lake felt good against my skin.
   Viserra loved it.
   She held out her arms like wings and tilted along with Oak whenever he did. She would whoop when Oak did a little dive before shooting back up.
   I enjoyed watching her every moment of that day. It was a memory I would cherish for the rest of my days.

Viserra later fell asleep after a couple hours.
   Oak headed back to the treehouse where I tucked Viserra in for a nap.
   As I waited for Jack to get back, I worked on Domia abr Wydra, my father's dream and legacy.

Hours later, I heard Fiercedawn land heavily on the small platform outside the window of our bedroom.
   Closing Domia abr Wydra, I got up and walked into the bedroom Jack and I shared.
   Fiercedawn and Jack both looked worn and tired from their meeting with the Elders.
   "Rough meeting." I asked her, sitting down next to her on the bed.
   "Yes," she replied, leaning her head on my shoulder. "They're all worried about the dragons. The fights have become less frequent, but they still happen, and villages often get set fire to or destroyed, either partly or totally. They still want me to go out to the Eastern Reaches to check up on the BeetleWings and LeafWings. But I told them I couldn't. I couldn't leave Viserra with only one parent. I couldn't let what happen to you happen to her." She said in a depressed voice.
   I threw an arm around her and held her close.
   "Thank you for thinking about Viserra first. I couldn't bare to lose you or see the pain of losing a mother in her eyes." I told her.
   "Raegel, you don't understand." Her voice cracked with despair as she pushed away from me. "Instead of me, they're sending you. They know the LeafWings and BeetleWings would never hurt Oak. They need someone to check it out and they chose you. I'm so, so sorry Raegel. If I could, I would do it myself. I don't want to lose you either. I—,"
   I silenced her with a kiss.
   "I love you." I whispered to her. "I love you with all of my heart, and I never want to be separated from you. But I have to do this. We don't know what's going on with the LeafWings or BeetleWings and someone who knows them has to check it out. But I promise you, I will return to you. I won't let anything keep us apart. I swear upon my life you will see me again." I told her. I meant every word I said then and there that night. I would do whatever it took to see her and Viserra again. Even if I had to go through the devil himself. I would see my wife and child again.

Oak and I left the next day.
Saying my farewells to Jack, Viserra, and our friends, Markus and Parakeet, Oak and I set off into the unknown lands of the east where the LeafWings and BeetleWings awaited.
