34 - HUNHAN: One Night's Dream

Title: One Night's Dream
Pairing: Sehun/Luhan
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance, Angst

Summary: Sehun needs a roommate to share the rent. Luhan needs a place to stay for three months.

*

(A/N: So, this story will be a sort-of-slightly The Lovers!au, because I really loved the Korean drama, "The Lovers" and of course, Takuya and Joonjae! So, I decided to write this to satisfy my unsatisfied heart with the sad but sweet ending, I almost cried!

Almost all or some of the scenes in the story are based from The Lovers but of course, I made changes. If you haven't watched the drama, please watch it, after or before you read this fic, if that's okay with you! WATCH IT, NAKAKAKILIG TALAGA! The first ever Korean drama I've watched with this kind of light and fluffy bromance. Ugh!

Please think of Sehun and Luhan here as both normal straight boys, because this is based on what society views them? I can't really explain for now! Just don't think Luhan is the girl here, for you to get the feels of the story? I don't know, but it's up to you, I'm very sorry!

Okay, thank you for reading this long note. Warning, this is angst, so please don't blame me for the ending of this!

This is for you who requested HunHan angst, I hope you like this! Enjoy reading!)

Sehun is a 21-year old guy who has part time jobs that's why he's surviving on a day to the day basis. He used to live with his parents, but they moved in to overseas, leaving him alone to live by himself in one of the mundane apartments in the outskirts of Seoul. He likes silence and being a homegrown, and he's not that of a sociable and outgoing person either, so it's fine with him just like that. Waking up to the sunrise poking his eyelids in the morning, cooking for himself stale dinner, eating by the couch while watching TV and sleeping solo on a single bed at night, are always his routine, his usual monotonous scenario.

That's not until when someone came in knocking on his door to change his once boring and dull life.

*

Room 412 is big and expensive enough for a person, and Sehun is kind of in a crisis right now to pay rent, so he settles for living with a roommate. Last week, he told Junmyeon, the 40-year old apartment manager slash landlord, to do him a favor and find him a new roommate.

So that is why Sehun finds himself blinking sleepily as he puts on a crumpled shirt and pants he doesn't know if clean or not. Junmyeon called him just now that there's this guy who needs a place to stay, and he is right here at this very moment in front of his apartment door. Sehun doesn't even bother to fix his messy hair as well as to clean his disheveled apartment when he swings the door of his unit open.

"Sehun!!!" Junmyeon greets in a chirpy tone, too chirpy for Sehun's liking in this early (10:53am) morning. Sehun only stares at the older as he scratches his bird-nest hair.

"You told me you need a roommate, right? I found you one. Here he is!" Junmyeon turns beside him. "This is Luhan."

A mop of fluffy blonde hair peeks into Junmyeon's side, his crescent eyes are blinking brightly at Sehun. Sehun scans the guy's whole features, and he seems to look like a little bit.. feminine.

"Hello! My name is Luhan!"

"I'm Sehun," Sehun quietly says.

Luhan pulls his luggage with him, or he attempts to, but fails, as it is about to fall on the ground if not for Sehun's quick reflex. Sehun catches the handle of Luhan's luggage, making their fingers brush against each other in the process. Looking into one another's eyes, there is silence filling the atmosphere save for the faint chirping of the birds outside.

Junmyeon clears his throat.

Sehun withdraws his hand awkwardly, and Luhan gets a hold of his bag, smiling again. Junmyeon leaves the two of them having the time for Sehun to usher his new roommate inside his untidy apartment. The blonde-haired travels his eyes around, picking the scattered boxers and wrinkled tissues he finds on top of the table, which Sehun immediately grabs and throws away somewhere on the floor.

"Um," Sehun starts uncomfortably when Luhan sits familiarly on his couch.

"This place is nice, Sehun-ssi," Luhan comments, still smiling. He turns to Sehun and tilts his head to the right. "What do you do?"

"I work part time."

"Oh." Luhan nods.

"How about you?"

"I'm a traveller. I travel around the world. Last year, I went to Japan," Luhan says, grinning "So for now, I need some place to stay for three months. Junmyeon said you can't pay the rent?"

Sehun scratches his head. "Yes.."

Luhan gets something inside his pockets, and it turns out to be a white envelope. He hands it to Sehun. "Here is my payment for three months. I hope we can get along well, Sehun-ssi!" He stretches his hand, shaking Sehun's hand vigoruously, up and down, up and down.

Sehun nods, breaking into a half-hearted smile as he gets the payment. "I hope so, too."

He needs the money, and Luhan seems to be nice after all.

*

They're done watching some drama on TV and is about to sleep, when Luhan suddenly asks, "So where am I going to sleep?"

"There's only one bed, Luhan-ssi. So it's either one of us will sleep on the floor."

Luhan yawns. "I'm sorry, but I can't sleep on the floor because my back aches. Can we share the bed?"

They both go to Sehun's room, eyeing the single bed but enough for two persons to sleep in. Luhan already throws himself on the left side of the bed, so that leaves Sehun to sleep on the right side. Sighing, Sehun lies on his back, grabbing the blanket for himself as he closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep.

It's not an hour when Luhan stirs from his sleep from the cold. He blinks, rubbing his eyes as he looks around. He turns to his side and sees Sehun sleeping soundly with the blanket kicked below his roommate's feet.

Without a word, he gets the sheets and lies on the bed again, draping the thick warmth to cover his body. He moans in satisfaction when the heat travels throughout his cold skin, leaving Sehun to shudder in the cold.

*

Having a companion while eating breakfast is not a bad thing at all. It's oddly comfortable to eat with someone Sehun barely knows, but it's okay, though, because the food is delicious to be honest.

After eating the first meal of the day, Sehun helps Luhan to fix his things and clothes being a hospitable roommate he is. He folds Luhan's clothes, including his briefs that were packed inside his luggage.

"You sure don't speak a lot, Sehun-ssi," Luhan says, folding his pair of jerseys and shorts. "You're too quiet."

"Uh. Yes." Sehun's expression doesn't change. "I guess I am."

"Have you travelled overseas, Sehun-ssi?"

Sehun shakes his head. "I have never been anywhere aside from this apartment... and in Seoul."

"Oh." Luhan chuckles, folding his shirt into a square. "Where do you want to go if you had a chance?"

Sehun glances at him once, then he looks down again to his lap. "Tokyo."

"Oh, I've been to Tokyo, it's nice there! There's a shopping district in Tokyo like here in Seoul." Luhan scrunches his forehead. "Myeol-- Myeong--"

"Myeongdong," Sehun finishes.

"Right! Myeongdong! We should go there together soon."

Sehun nods.

"How old are you?"

"Twenty one." Sehun places the neatly folded clothes on top of the couch.

"We're of the same age. We should speak informally, okay?" Luhan says, beaming ear-to-ear as he bumps his shoulder against Sehun's arm.

"Sure. Yeah," Sehun answers timidly as he stares at his roommate's blinding smile.

He should get used to it anytime soon.

*

It's a lazy afternoon and Sehun is on his bed watching some random videos on his phone when a friend sends him a message with a hyperlink attached with it. Furrowing his eyebrows, he clicks the link, bringing him to a music video of a girl who is walking sexily with her ass facing the camera.

Sehun gulps, sinking himself down the bed as he stares at the girl's behind, upbeat music playing together with the girl's swaying of her hips. He stretches his right arm into the nightstand to grab some rolled tissues while his bulging eyes don't bother to leave the screen of his phone.

"Sehun-ah!"

Sehun hastily hides his phone under his blanket as he attempts to discard the tissues he is holding.

"What are you watching? I heard some familiar music here." He sits beside Sehun who's now averting his eyes.

"What was it?" Luhan grabs his roommate's phone, checking the screen.

"N-nothing, it's just--"

"Porn?" Luhan gets the tissues and throws it away. "Tissues."

Sehun grabs his phone back, and Luhan nudges his ribs. "Why don't you tell me, we're both guys anyway! Yah, who was it? Was it Yoon Joonhee? Park Hyejin? Or Pamela Anderson?"

Sehun blushes. "I-I usually.. don't know their names.."

"Well, you should know."

Luhan disappears for a moment and comes back in the room with a laptop in hand. He places it on the bed in front of the two of them. He plays the video in his laptop, and a voice of a moaning girl blares throughout the speakers. Sehun turns to look at his roommate who is sitting crossed-legs.

"W-what's this?"

"We're going to watch this together."

Sehun keeps quiet after that.

*

After his not-quite tiring work at the convenience store, Sehun relaxes himself by playing video games. Furiously tapping the console within his hand, he is halfway winning the game versus Manchester United when Luhan walks in to the living room.

"What are you doing?"

Sehun thinks that Luhan is always butting in, but it can't be avoided, though. They're roommates after all.

"You're playing World Cup?" Sehun quietly nods. "Let's play together, my team is losing!"

Sehun looks up to him. "Uh, sure."

"Wait a second!"

Luhan comes back after a while, all dressed in a blue soccer uniform with matching white high socks. He excitedly sits beside Sehun on the couch, taking the player two console.

They ended up playing the game together in silence except for Luhan's whoo!'s when he goals, and Sehun thinks that Luhan is a great gamer. Sehun would always battle against the computer, but never in his life he had lost, except now.

"Whoo! Yes! ManU rocks!"

Sehun loses for the first time.

He doesn't slightly feel bad about it, though, as Luhan cheers victoriously with a wide smile across his face as if he did win the World Cup.

*

"What's with the suit?" Luhan asks without taking his eyes off on the TV screen as he sits comfortably on the couch. Dressed in a black suit, Sehun walks in front of the mirror, fixing his tie with his both hands.

"For my job interview." Sehun lifts his chin to properly adjust the tie, but he seems like he's strangling himself more by the way he tangles the tie on his neck.

Luhan sighs and shakes his head, walking over to where Sehun is standing. Without saying anything, he presses Sehun against the wall and grabs the tie with his hand. He fixes it by himself while Sehun just stares down at him, their faces only inches apart.

"This is how you do it." Luhan breaks into a lop-sided grin as his fingers work on the tie. Thinking it's already finished, Sehun stiffens when Luhan slaps the wall with his palm as he leans closer to him, seriously looking into his glassy eyes.

"What are you.. doing?" Sehun manages to ask, ignoring their close proximity.

"Sehun, when I look at you," Luhan whispers into the other's ears in a low voice that has Sehun's spine shuddering. "You're a really dull person."

Sehun is taken aback.

Luhan leans away, his bright smile once again plastered on his face as he withdraws his palm from the wall. "Oh! There's a nail on the wall. It's really bothering me."

Luhan shows his palm to Sehun, then he turns his back to return sitting on the couch. But before Luhan could go anywhere, Sehun has already grabbed Luhan's wrist, and pressed him against the wall like what the blonde-haired did to him earlier. Positions now exchanged, Sehun leans his face close, just in front of Luhan's lips.

"W-what is it?" Luhan asks, almost a whisper.

"Are you joking with me?" Sehun inches his lips into Luhan's mouth, his breath ghosting against Luhan's slightly parted lips. Luhan doesn't say anything, he stares at him speechless.

Silence envelopes the room, Sehun doesn't move in his position as if he's about to kiss the other boy, and Luhan just stands still, emotionless.

"There's a nail, too," Sehun quietly says before he moves his body away from cornering Luhan, walking back into the bedroom before he closes the door behind him with a soft click.

Gasping for air when Sehun was gone, Luhan lets his knees give in weakly as he slides himself down the floor. He stares at the door confusedly, wherein behind, Sehun is leaning his back, thinking to himself why he's feeling strange all of a sudden.

*

They forget what happened last time.

It's completely normal having some subtle misunderstandings living with someone, especially for both males having different contrasting personalities. But Sehun thinks he can deal having Luhan around, though. It's only three months anyway.

Sehun is showering in the bathroom when Luhan calls him from the living room.

"Sehun! My friend is coming over any minute from now!" Luhan hollers, excitedly waiting by the door as he fumbles with his phone.

"Oh, okay. Just let him in," Sehun replies back as he dries his wet hair with a towel. He goes out of the bathroom without bothering to wear a shirt nor a pants, just an underwear can do.

Swinging the door open, Luhan's friend enters their apartment unit. They happily hug each other as the two of them hop in circles like children in the Kindergarten with big grins painted on their faces.

"Yoona!!!

"Luhan!!!"

"I missed you so much!!! Ahh!!"

"The same goes for me!!! Ahh!!"

Just as Sehun is about to walk to the living room to go to his room to dress, he stops on his tracks in surprise, seeing a girl has just entered inside the apartment. Sehun didn't know Luhan's friend was a girl, and he's now embarrassed as fuck.

"U-uhm, I-I'm sorry--" Sehun apologizes shyly at Yoona who's staring shocked at Sehun's almost naked state. Sehun tries his best to cover his body as he scurries towards the room to hide himself.

Smiling, Luhan just shrugs his shoulders when Yoona looks at him amusedly. As if nothing happened, they resume hugging in circles, patting each others backs with smiles across their faces.

Few minutes later after Sehun is done dressing himself up, he appears on the living room timidly to show himself to the visitor. He's not that of a rude person, and he's also the owner of said house, so he greets Yoona and introduces himself.

"I'm Sehun, Luhan's roommate," he says in a small voice before politely stretching his arm and gently shaking Yoona's hand.

"Hi, I'm Yoona. Luhan's friend," she answers with a smile as she takes Sehun's hand, releasing it after a few shakes. Sehun backs away after that, awkwardly standing at the side as the two friends continue their loud conversation.

"Uh, do you want something to drink?" Sehun asks after a while.

"Do you have iced coffee?" Yoona asks, and Sehun nods before going to the kitchen wordlessly.

"And pineapple juice for me!" Luhan follows.

"So do you have any plans after your stay here?" Yoona asks as he brushes Luhan's fringe away from his forehead. Sehun can hear them talk from where he is rummaging inside the refrigerator.

"I'm going back to China, I guess."

"Oh really, that's great!" Yoona chimes, squeezing Luhan's knee as she bumps into his shoulder. "I'm about to go there, too."

Sehun comes back with two beverages in hand quietly as expected from him. He places the bottles in front of the two on top of the table. Luhan and Yoona looks down at the drinks.

"There's no iced coffee and pineapple juice. I only got water and orange juice... I'm sorry."

Yoona frowns. "But I don't drink orange juice."

Luhan exchanges their drinks. He puts the water in front of Yoona, placing the orange juice in front of him. He smiles to his friend. "I'll drink this."

Sehun just stands there by the side of the couch since he's got nowhere to sit on. He feels really uncomfortable and awkward, because he's not used to visitors, especially people whom he barely knows.

"I want to see your room!" Yoona says, bouncing on the couch as he clutches Luhan's arm tightly. Sehun's eyes linger on it. "Can I take a look?"

"Sure, come on."

They both stand, leaving Sehun alone in the living room as they giggle to themselves. Luhan closes the bedroom door with a thud, making Sehun to blink and realize his roommate has just let a girl enter their room. He sighs tiredly, staring at the closed the door as if it will show what's happening inside.

"What are they doing.." Sehun whispers to himself, impatiently drumming his fingers onto his lap. He hears laughter inside the room, and he can't help but get curious and a feel a little bit bothered.

Looking around, he steps closer to the door.

He hears nothing.

He steps closer again, pressing his ear against the wood to further hear Luhan and Yoona's conversation.

"Do you want to do it?" Yoona asks in a quiet voice as he pushes Luhan on the bed so that the male is lying on his back. Luhan gets up slightly, his elbows supporting his weight.

"What?" he asks, an unreadable expression is shown across his features as he looks at his friend who is now leaning her face close to him.

Luhan doesn't blink, he stares directly at Yoona's face when the door suddenly opens wide.

"Here's your pineapple juice I bought at the convenience store!!!" Sehun yells as he enters the room straight to the bed, stretching the bottle in front of Luhan's face. He is sweating and gasping for air.

Luhan doesn't say anything, as well as Yoona who is staring awkwardly at Sehun.

"Uh, where's my bag," Yoona says, standing up from the bed as she walks outside the room. Luhan follows her, leaving Sehun again by himself on the bedroom. Sehun heaves a sigh he doesn't know he's been holding.

*

It's eleven o'clock in the evening and the three of them are still awake. Sehun bought snacks and a few drinks for the three of them to share. He looks at the clock, silently wishing the time would pass by quickly so the visitor would leave already. He clears his throat.

"Oh, look at the time. It's late."

"Yeah," Luhan says, turning to Yoona. "Why don't you just stay the night? It's already late after all." He sits on the couch beside his friend. Sehun furrows his eyebrows slightly.

"Where am I going to sleep?"

"You can sleep here." Luhan smiles.

"What?" comes Sehun's question in a slightly irritated tone. "Uh. I mean--"

"Really?" Yoona says, grinning as he holds onto Luhan's arm, then he turns to look at Sehun. "Can I sleep here, Sehun-ssi?"

"Uhm. It's okay, I guess.." Sehun scratches his head.

Both Luhan and Yoona are engaged in a conversation the two of them only understand, so that leaves Sehun to fumble with his phone boredly. He smirks, when an idea suddenly pops into his head. He bites his lower lip as he types on his phone.

"Luhan, can I invite a friend, too?"

"Sure," Luhan answers as he eats his chips.

In no time, a loud and embarrassing half-drunk Junmyeon is dancing and singing with Yoona as he pours her a glass of alcohol, making Yoona to shove the old man away with a disgusting look on her face. Sehun hides his smile behind his hand.

"Pretty miss! Let's drink more!!!" Junmyeon singsongs as Yoona shakes her head disapprovingly.

"N-no, ahjusshi. I-I'm leaving."

"But why!??? Sehun said I could get to drink with a pretty lady!" Junmyeon slurs, and Sehun laughs and rolls on the floor.

"L-luhan, I think I should go," she says before grabbing her bag in record time. "Let's see each other next time."

"A-are you sure you don't want to stay the night?" Luhan asks worriedly as he holds onto Yoona's arm. Yoona shakes her head, glaring at the old man who's winking at him.

"I'm going, bye."

"Let me take you outside."

Drinking the beer-in-can Sehun bought, he grins, watching Yoona walks out of their apartment as Luhan bids her goodbye.

He doesn't want to share this apartment with someone, and maybe, Sehun thinks, that includes his roommate.

*

It has been one month and one week since Luhan moved in to Sehun's apartment, and as days pass by, they get to know each other more than yesterday. Sehun is gradually letting his guards down, and little does he know that he's already letting his roommate to become a part of his life.

"Hahahaha!" Luhan laughs loudly as he watches some hilarious scene on the TV, hugging a pillow in his arms comfortably. "Oh, that was funny!"

Feeling something vibrating against his thigh, Luhan looks curiously under his butt only to see his roommate's phone which is now displaying an incoming call. He squints his eyes, getting the phone under him.

"Ja-gi-ya?" Luhan reads the name on the screen, a red heart placed after the hangeul letters. He smiles. "He has a girlfriend?"

"Give me that," Sehun, who just came out from the bedroom, grabs his phone from Luhan's eyes. He peeks on the screen and taps the message box to show the unread messages of his girlfriend.

"You have a girlfriend?" Luhan muses, smiling widely. Sehun doesn't answer as he types an apology text to his girlfriend saying he's busy that's why he couldn't answer her calls.

"Is she pretty?" Luhan asks, nudging Sehun's arm with his elbow. Sehun sits beside him and stretches his arm in the air.

"Yah, what are you still doing here!?" Luhan slaps his arm, and it hurts. "Go to your date!!"

Sehun turns to him quietly, his eyes worried. "Should I?"

Breaking into a teasing smile, Luhan nods. "Of course, you should! Now, go get dressed and put on nice clothes!"

Sehun contemplates for a while, thinking whether he'll go or just stay here on his apartment. But another vibrate on his phone makes him to stand, sighing as he goes back to his room to change.

He comes back after a while, dressed in a blue sweatshirt with matching black skinny jeans and socks, his hair already styled up. He walks in front of the mirror, fixing his hair slowly.

"Oh, so handsome!" Luhan teases, but Sehun pays him no mind as he languidly prepares himself for his date. He walks in front of Luhan, going to the doorstep to wear his shoes. Luhan follows him.

"Aigoo," Luhan says, watching his roommate who is moving like a turtle as he wears his left sneakers, sitting on the doorstep with his knees pressed against his chest.

"Can't you move faster than that?" Luhan sighs, then he moves behind Sehun, his chest flushed onto Sehun's back as he reaches for Sehun's sleeves. "You should roll this up." He pulls the cloth upwards so it is pushed in level with Sehun's elbow, doing the same to Sehun's left sleeve.

"There. Now, the other one."

Sehun turns his head slightly, feeling his roommate's warm body against his back, which is almost hovering and back hugging him. He can see Luhan's cheek close to his face, that he can count his roommate's eyelashes and hear Luhan's steady breathing.

"Done," Luhan says after he finishes fixing Sehun's sleeves. Sehun keeps quiet, returning to wearing his sneakers and tying it carefully.

"Hurry up! Aish!"

Sehun sighs, not bothering to rush his movements as he knots his shoelaces. He startles a bit, when Luhan pulls his right foot and puts on his right sneakers for him. "Sehun, you're very slow, aren't you? You're going to be late."

Sehun watches silently as Luhan ties his shoelaces without him doing the work. He only stares on how Luhan's fingers fumble with the knots, doing the same with his other foot.

"Finished!" Luhan exclaims, dusting off his lap as he stands. Sehun stands as well as he looks at his roommate quietly, his face seems to say a lot.

"Hurry up! Go!" Luhan yells, pushing Sehun towards the door. Sehun doesn't fight back as he lets himself be pushed forcefully on his back.

"Do I have.. to go?"

Luhan beams, nodding his head quickly. "Yes."

Sehun averts his eyes, sadly looking at the other direction, then he says in a small voice, "How about you.. you will be left alone here and no one to--"

"Don't worry about me! It's not like I'm your wife."

Sehun turns to stare at him with a bothered look on his face. Luhan smiles. "Now, go." He hands Sehun a pack of condom then he winks. "In case of emergency."

Sehun turns his back, and walks towards the door quickly with Luhan smiling behind him.

"Sehun, don't forget to--" The door closes.

Luhan's lips curve upward into a forced smile. "He's really clumsy."

*

Walking on the street, Sehun lets his mind think of what just happened earlier. He wonders on how his roommate's warm hand gently fixes his sleeve, or how Luhan ties his shoelaces carefully. He wonders the reason why it feels nice and strange when Luhan was that close to him.

His heart skips a beat, together with the ring on his phone.

"Is it Luhan?" He checks his phone, and heaves when he was greeted by his girlfriend's text asking him why is he taking so long. Pocketing the device after he types a brief reply, Sehun quickens his steps, muttering under his breath, "Let's go, Yeri is waiting."

It doesn't take long when his phone vibrates again, telling him another text just arrived. Pausing to his feet, he gets his phone and reads the message, a deadpan look in his face.

His clutch on the phone becomes tight. He heaves a deep breath before turning his back around and running as fast as he can. His steps are big as he dashes towards his apartment as if he's chasing for dear life. He turns left, right, straight, legs straining into maximum speed as he quickly jogs, his heart ringing loudly into his ears.

"Oh? You're back early."

Sehun exhales heavily, panting for air to breathe in his lungs as he supports his arms over his knees. Luhan looks at him with wide eyes when Sehun hands him something.

"You.. sent... me.. a text.." Sehun says in between his haggard breathing. "asking if I ate.. your ice cream..."

With hesitant fingers, Luhan slowly gets the ice cream Sehun is handing him.

"I ate it yesterday... so I.. bought you.. another one.." Sehun finally says, before slumping his tired body on the floor.

Looking at Sehun who is sprawled on the ground, Luhan can't help himself but to break into a tiny smile. "You came back... just to give me this?"

Sehun nods, catching for his breath.

"It didn't even melt." Luhan shakes his head. "You sure did run fast."

Sehun stays silent, looking at the ceiling above him.

"How about your date?"

Luhan gets no reply. Sehun closes his eyes.

"It's lonely here, though.." Luhan quietly says after a while as he opens the pack of ice cream. "and I'm.. starting to get bored... because you're not here."

Sehun lifts his head slightly to look at his roommate's face. Luhan is not looking at him, he's busy with his ice cream.

"But now, I'm happy," Luhan continues as he smiles a little sadly, that Sehun can feel something tug inside his chest. "Because you're now here with me."

Sehun doesn't say anything, leaning his head again to rest on the floor as his lips curve upward. He doesn't know why, but his heart feels a little lighter than before now that he's back in his apartment. He doesn't understand why, but he's feeling a little bit strange nowadays. All he knows is that, hearing his roommate's voice and seeing his bright smiles make him want to always stay here in this room, where the two of them only share.

Maybe it's just that, probably, he's starting to like Luhan.

No. He likes Luhan.

*

It has been two months since Luhan moved in to Sehun's apartment, and Sehun can't help but feel a dull ache inside his heart knowing his roommate will soon leave this place. As times go by spending time together, Sehun knows his feelings are growing deeper.

He's confused as to why he is feeling this way, and sometimes he wants to know the answers to his questions. He wants his roommate to know his feelings he can't say with words.

He wants Luhan to know, but he doesn't know how.

"This is hard," Luhan whispers to himself as he peels the apple within his palm with a knife. He cuts the red peeling slowly, and he fails as it always cut short without getting to the base of the fruit.

Sehun gently takes the apple from him together with the knife, and wordlessly, he peels the apple with grace, continuously letting the red peeling to fall off the plate in circles. Luhan watches amusedly with a smile on his lips.

Done removing the outer layer of the fruit, Sehun places the peeled apple on the plate and slices it into bite-size pieces. Luhan beams.

"You're really good at this, Sehun."

Sehun doesn't say anything as he stands, leaving Luhan to eat his apple in silence as he goes to the bathroom. He opens the faucet, letting the running water hit the sink as he stares at himself on the mirror.

He opens his left hand, slowly, revealing a large cut against his palm, blood oozing out from the opened skin.

He closes his eyes, putting his hand under the water as he withstands the pain. It hurts.

But his heart hurts more.

*

"Why do you like me?"

"Oppa, why do you like me?"

They are watching Reply 1994, silently sitting together on the couch, when Luhan turns to his roommate.

"Why do you like me?" Luhan asks all of a sudden, making Sehun to stare at him caught of guard.

"What?"

Luhan scoots closer to him, putting his arm over Sehun's shoulder as he peeks into Sehun's face. Sehun nervously avoids his eyes, looking down on the floor as he tries to ignore his roommate's face close to his cheek.

"Why do you like me, Sehun? You won't let me stay here if you don't like me, right? Why do you like me?" Luhan asks, nudging Sehun's arm as he pouts half-jokingly. Sehun stiffens when Luhan taps his cheek with the back of his fingers.

"Why do you like me? Yah, Sehun."

"Why?"

"Why do you like me?"

"Because.." Sehun starts, still not looking at his roommate's face inches beside him. "You're.."

"I'm?" Luhan asks, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Y-you're... pretty," Sehun continues in a whisper, but both of them heard what he said.

Luhan doesn't say anything, he's just staring at Sehun emotionless and confused.

His phone rings.

"Hello? Oh! It's been a while," Luhan answers, going back on his sitting position on the couch. Sehun stands, immediately making his way to the bathroom and closing the door behind him with a thud.

"Fuck." He leans his arms on the sink as he looks at his reflection, he's angry, he's confused, he doesn't know why he just said pretty to someone who is not even a girl. "Why did I say that!?" He shoves the cosmetics in front of the mirror, causing the bottles to fall messily on the tiled floor.

"Why did I.. say that.." He won't even know the reason.

Luhan will never know.

"What are you doing?" Luhan turns to look at Sehun who's standing by the countertop beside the bed where Luhan is sitting.

"I'm cleaning." Sehun wipes the same spot he is wiping for the last two minutes. Luhan sighs.

"I know. But you've been cleaning that spot for too long."

Silence fills the room.

"I like cleaning."

"But this place is messy when I came here."

Sehun doesn't answer him.

Luhan moves close to where Sehun is wiping and peeks into Sehun's face. He swats the other male's bangs with his hand, revealing Sehun's eyes looking downcast.

"Woah, Sehun. I didn't know you have thick eyebrows."

Sehun continues cleaning as he ignores his roommate who's looking up to his face. It's uncomfortable, and he can feel his heart thumping faster than normal.

The bedroom door opens.

Both males look at the door.

Yeri just stares at them, surprised.

"W-what's this?"

Luhan withdraws his hand away, shocked. Sehun's eyes enlarge.

Luhan beams, bowing ninety degrees in front of Sehun's girlfriend.

"H-hello, I'm Luhan, Sehun's roommate!" he introduces, wearing an unsure smile on his face when Yeri looks suspiciously at them.

"Yeri, what are you doing here?" Sehun asks, pushing Yeri to the living room away from Luhan. "Why didn't you call?"

Yeri shoves his hands away angrily. "Why didn't I call? Maybe you should try checking your phone first. I've been calling you for how many times but you're not answering!" She puts a hand on her forehead. "Tell me, oppa. Is there someone else!?"

Sehun opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out. He knows his girlfriend is upset, but he can't explain. What she said was wrong. He doesn't have someone.

"Tell me!" Yeri says, her tone is high. "Do you like someone else?"

Luhan walks over to the couple anxiously, facing Sehun's girfriend as he attempts to explain. "Yeri-ssi, it's not like that. H-he doesn't have someone else. I know because I'm with him, he's not seeing another girl." he explains, trying his best to convince Yeri, then he looks at Sehun hopefully. "Right, Sehun?"

Yeri furrows her eyebrows as she looks angrily at Luhan. Sehun stays silent when his girlfriend asks, "Are you dating him!?"

Luhan's eyes go big, surprised etched on his face as he shakes his head twice. It doesn't make sense..

"N-no, i-it's not like that, Yeri-ssi! We're not in that kind of relationship." He looks seriously at Yeri, wishing he is convincing enough. "S-sehun and I.. We're just roommates.. We are roommates." He smiles, turning to Sehun who stays mute all the time. "Right, Sehun?"

Sehun doesn't speak, he only averts his eyes which are now glassy and shaking as if tears would fall anytime. Yeri tugs Sehun's arm, looking at her boyfriend's face as she restrains herself to cry. "Why aren't you speaking!? Answer me! Do you like someone else!?"

"Uhm. Yeri-ssi, it's not--" Luhan tries to hold the girl's arm, so Yeri turns to look at him with a bothered look on her face.

"Excuse me, Luhan-ssi, but please. Can you kindly stop putting your nose into other's business?" she says before sighing irritatedly. "You don't have anything to do with this, so please just leave us alone to talk."

Taken aback, Luhan steps back as he realizes he has gone overboard. Sehun looks at him worriedly, his mouth parts but then again, he doesn't say anything.

"Oh.. I'm sorry," Luhan says, lowering his eyes to the floor. "I'm going back inside the room."

But before Luhan could leave, a hand wrapped around his wrist stops him from going. He lift his eyes up, seeing Sehun looking at him with those eyes again. Yeri just stares at them in disbelief, as if there is something she can't put a finger on.

"I'm sorry," Sehun says in a quiet voice. "I'm.. very sorry."

Luhan breaks into a tiny smile that doesn't even reach his eyes. "It's okay.."

"I'm really sorry.."

"I said it's okay."

Luhan turns his back and leaves.

"Why are you like this, oppa!?" Yeri asks again, shaking Sehun's arm as she starts to sob. "Tell me the truth, do you like someone!?"

Sehun's expression changes, as he already lets his guards down, because it hurts, seeing someone cry in front of him really pains him so much.

"Tell me!!"

"..yes," Sehun answers, a tear rolls down his cheek freely. "I-I like.. someone else.."

Yeri freezes. Luhan watches them from the door, astounded.

"So let's just break up."

Sehun clenches his eyes close when Yeri tugs his arm again, crying her heart out out.

"Who is it!? Who is this person you like!?"

Sehun lets himself break into sobs, his heart heavy in his chest as painful tears stream down his face. "..it's not a person.. I could like.." he cries. "It's not-- it's just.. but I couldn't like that person.. I-- I'm.."

Sobbing like he's really strugging to explain himself out, Yeri grips his arm tight. He can't even look at Yeri in the eyes. Luhan stares at Sehun from where he is standing at the opened door, his heart feels like breaking into pieces.

"Tell me, is it him?" Yeri asks without bothering to take his eyes off the male. "Tell me, is it him whom you're talking about!? Is he the person you like!?"

Sehun slowly lifts his gaze up to look at Luhan meters away from the door. He catches Luhan staring at him emotionless, their gazes lock for awhile, as if they are speaking without words.

Luhan averts his eyes.

Sehun knows, that Luhan already knows.

*

Everything has changed after what happened. Luhan changed.

Sehun tries to talk to him, but he's cold. He's not smiling anymore neither talking. He's avoiding Sehun like he's air.

"Just leave me alone for a while," he said finally without even sparing Sehun a glance.

Sehun tried to stop him from leaving, but he couldn't do anything when Luhan has already packed his things, pulling his luggage with him outside the apartment in the middle of the cold night.

Sehun was left alone.

Luhan is gone.

*

Sitting on a bench at the bus stop with all his belongings perched beside his feet, Luhan smiles sadly, basking in the cold creeping to his skin.

"I think I'm leaving.. It's okay," he says to the other person he is talking to on his phone. "Yes." He looks up to the dark skies, smiling sadly.

"I like him, too.."

A voice startles the blonde-haired, looking to his left to see the landlord.

"Are you leaving alone tonight?" Junmyeon asks him from where he is meters away from him, and Luhan just nods quietly. "What a coincidence. Sehun is here, too."

Luhan turns his head to the right, and he sees right then and there, Sehun standing between the dark. He is looking at him straight in the eyes as he walks towards Luhan. Sehun doesn't say anything, but his thoughts are full of statements his mouth couldn't spill.

What if's.. If only..

Without looking at his eyes, Sehun stops just in front Luhan, handing him a black jacket which Luhan takes with his hand wordlessly. The time seems to stop.

But Sehun just leaves after that.

Luhan watches his back from afar.

*

Sehun sleeps on the right side of the bed, like there is still someone lying beside him.

"Luhan..." he whispers, and he stirs from his sleep feeling a gentle hand pressed against his cheek.

"Sehun."

He opens his eyes quickly, getting up on the bed in record time as he eyes the person in front of him in disbelief.

"Y-you're here.." Luhan nods, smiling.

"This.. is not a dream, isn't it?"

"No, it's not."

Sehun smiles. Luhan averts his eyes.

"Do you want to eat? Are you hungry? I cooked ramen!"

"S-sure.."

Sehun doesn't say anything when Luhan places the bowl of noodles in front of him. He quietly digs into his food, slurping the noodles with his mouth as Luhan stares at him crossed-legs.

"Was it good?"

Sehun nods. "Delicious."

They didn't talk about what happened. The thing which is the most important is left forgotten, as if nothing has changed, as if they are both the same as before.

Sehun finishes his meal, lying on his bed as Luhan only looks down at him. Sehun tells Luhan he wants to sleep, he just wants to sleep right now.

So Luhan lets him.

Sehun sleeps by the right side of the bed, as Luhan watches him, lying by the left side as well as he stares at Sehun's sleeping state. Luhan brings his hand to gently caress the other's cheek as he leans in close to his face.

But Luhan doesn't say anything, doesn't do anything. He just closes his eyes.

If only. If only we're both a guy and a girl, then it would be...

It would be..

"Good night," Luhan whispers under his breath. "And good bye, Sehun.."

*

Sehun wakes up in the morning with no one beside him, only a note placed on top of the table with a neat handwriting. He clutches the paper in his hand, a warm tear escape his eye as he looks down on the bed, silently wishing Luhan never left, silently hoping it's never too late.

Good bye, one night's dream.
- Luhan
