[Tao] Wishing Booth

You looked up at the orange sky and sighed. The first day of the school festival has finally ended. Since you were sitting on the small hill just beside the campus, you had a good view of all the colorful booths scattered around the grounds. The people were starting to lessen little by little as the sky slowly darkened. Maybe it’s time to go home as well.

You started walking down the hill, you caught something at the corner of your eye. Brows furrowing, you approached it, swiftly dodging the boys playing ball along the path.

“I didn’t know... the school had a fountain...” You mumbled, starting to fall in a daze. You stood a few feet away from the beautiful fountain as you read the engraved words at the side.

One coin, One wish.

That was all it said, but strangely, it felt like it meant everything. Well, it seems safe. Nothing bad can happen while making a wish, right? Not taking your eyes off the clear water flowing down the fountain, you took out a coin from your pocket and was about to step forward, but a tall mint-haired man came out of nowhere and stepped near the fountain before you could.

Mint hair? What kind of human would have a hair like that? Or... is he human? Maybe he’s actually an angel and only you could see him!!! Now staring at his interesting hair, you stepped closer him. You were about to tap his shoulder when he suddenly spoke.

“Please don’t fail me.” He kissed his coin and flipped it into the fountain.

“LOOK OUT!!!” You heard someone scream behind, making you whip around. You realized that a basketball was rocketing towards your face. Before you could even blink, it already hit you square on the forehead and you fell back. You heard a loud splash, and you were underwater. Gasping, you quickly sat up, feeling wet all over. Ok shit did someone wish for you to fall into the fountain? CAUSE IT GODDAMN WORKED!!!

“What happened?” You heard a male voice mumble, and your eyes widened when you saw the mint-haired man in the water as well. He ran a hand over his wet hair and oh my unicorn gods he looked gorgeous. Drop. Dead. GORGEOUS.

“I’m so sorry! A ball hit me and I accidentally pushed you over!” You frantically tried to help him up, but he was so heavy and you ended up pathetically falling back into the water instead.

“Hey are you okay?” He asked as he helped you up. You opened your eyes, but you vision was kind of spinning. “Your forehead is all red!”

He wrapped your arm around his shoulder as he dragged the two of you out of the fountain. You could feel hundreds of eyes staring, but what the hell dude, this wasn’t our fault?!! Those boys weren’t even heard saying sorry!

The wind suddenly blew, making you shiver. Wow wind, you really love me that much, don’t you?

“Goddamn ball,” you hissed through rattling teeth. The man just chuckled and wrapped his other arm around your waist to protect your shivering body. You pushed him into the water, but then he’s the one helping you now. What a very nice guy.

*30 MINUTES LATER*

“I’m really sorry..”  You mumbled just to break the silence. You made sure not to look his way because he was basically shirtless and with just one glance earlier, you knew that his body was nowhere far from those of a Greek god. You would be lying if you said you didn’t want to touch those chocolate abs.

“It’s ok, it wasn’t your fault.” He said brightly. Wow, for a guy with bad boy looks, he’s pretty jolly. Well the mint hair was kind of a giveaway, but in some way it still matched his tough guy appeal.

“How can you be not mad at me?” You fidgeted with the hem of the towel on your lap. Thanks to these towels he found in the gym’s locker room, drying up became easier, though you weren’t sure if you’d be spared from a cough or cold later. “If I were in your place I would be furious... I interrupted your wishing session...”

He laughed brightly as if your statement was funny. Well, he laughed so it must be funny. Then much to your surprise, he stood up to sit right next to you.

Oh god please no abs just a foot away! MUST. RESIST. GROPING URGE.

“Do you know what I was wishing for?” His eyes were sparkling as he looked at you, quite reminding you of an excited 3-year-old kid.

“Um... no... What were you wishing for?”

“A reason to continue attending this festival.” He looked away and started staring at random spots on the ceiling. “I didn’t know it would be granted so soon.”

“Why? Don’t you like the festival?”

“I don’t really have good experiences in these things...” It seems like this guy is on the same page as yours. I totally feel you, bro. “If my friends aren’t setting me up in weird booths, they’re suddenly abandoning me on my own somewhere. I was thinking about just ditching the whole festival, but I felt like I’m going to miss something if I do so.”

“I see...” you nodded and joined him staring at the ceiling. He suddenly nudged you.

“You were standing by the wishing fountain. What were you going to wish?”

“I-I wasn’t going to wish.” No please human don’t ask. It’s embarrassing!

“You were clutching this,” he lifted a familiar coin in front of your face with an eyebrow raised. Damn. Well, he revealed his personal story to you, so to be fair, you have to give what he’s asking for.

“Well, my wish would’ve been pretty similar to yours. My friends set me up in strange booths as well so I have to constantly hide from them. So I feel like my life would be better if I don’t attend this festival at all.”

“So your wish would have been...?” He tilted closer, eager to hear what you’ll say. Impatient little creature, aren’t you?

“To have a reason not to regret coming today.” He grinned, satisfied. He grabbed your hand and placed the coin in your hand.

“We’re all dried up now. We can go back to the fountain so you could make that wish.” He stood up and looked at you expectantly. “What are you waiting for?”

“Um... you.. your shirt...” He looked down at his *cough*hot*cough* body, and his eyes widened as he realized that he has been flashing his abs on you for the past minutes. He frantically grabbed his shirt. Due to his panicking state, he inserted his limbs through the wrong holes, making him stuck.

"Um, hold on for a minute..." He called out as he tried to wriggle free. Sighing, you stood upd to help the poor creature. You gently held his shoulder to pry his arms out, and then his head. Wow, his hair was really soft. It really was real.

Anyway, you held the shirt for him and made sure the right holes were in the right places. Somewhere along the process, your hand brushed along his muscled chest, creating an awkward moment right there. Clearing your throat, you turned around and left him on his own.

"I'm done," he coughed awkwardly to make you look at him. Then he held out his hand and forced a smile. "Shall we?"

Though your brows were furrowing at his weirdness, you managed a laugh and accepted his hand. He proceeded to drag you outside.

There were almost no more people around, and most of the booths were already closing up. The sky has turned into a purplish orange portrait, making you silently marvel it in awe. You should really start watching sunsets from now on. It’s so beautiful.

“There. Make your wish.” He finally let go of your shoulder as he successfully placed you in front of the wishing fountain.

You shut your eyes with the coin in hand. Wish? Do you still need to wish? Do you still regret coming to the festival today? You glanced back at the weird mint haired man behind you. He grinned and showed you two thumbs up.

No. Your wish already came true. You already have a reason not to regret coming today.

“Are you done? You didn’t throw the coin?” His brows furrowed as you started walking back to him. You looked down at your feet, shy to meet his soft eyes.

“I don’t have to... My wish already came true.” You lifted the coin to his face, smiling. So far in your life, this guy was the weirdest but the kindest person you’ve ever met. He really is like a mint-haired smiling angel. “I still have another wish, though.”

“Um... what?” You grabbed his hand and placed the coin in his hand.

“I wish to know the mint haired man’s name.” His brows furrowed for a moment as he tried to comprehend if you were serious or not. Then he laughed. “Ah, yes. I’m Tao. And you are...?”

You pretended to look innocent and joked with the fountain’s quote. “One coin, One wish.”

With this, he frantically felt all his pockets. You bit your lip to keep yourself from laughing at his cuteness. How could he be so innocent? He held up a golden star sticker and sighed.

“I ran out of coins, but I hope this works.”

You laughed at his pouty face. “It’s fine. I’m ____.” Out of nowhere, he suddenly blushed and he bit his lip. Omo, is he shy? Why is he shy? You Tao creature why you so cute? >w< And to think that you have abs >w<

“You’re attending again tomorrow, right?”

“Um... yes?”

“Then I can accompany you all day!” He smiled. Your brows furrowed.

“Why would you do that?”

“I told you, right?” He grabbed your hand to place the star in your palm, but this time, he kept on holding your hand. His gaze locked with yours, and you felt your heart stop. Why does this feel so romantic? Is it because of the sunset? Or the fountain? Or maybe this funny feeling...

“I already have a reason to attend the festival. You are that reason.”
