[Lay] Most Wanted
Part One:
» [Lay] The Delinquent
» BAD BOY THEME
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
If someone were to ask you what have you been up to for the past weeks, you would probably say hiding from war freak mafias, and kicking them in the balls every now and then. But of course, people would freak out over that, so that matter is best kept confidential.
Like seriously, it's already so suffocating with people buzzing over the news of you and Zhang "Lay" YiXing dating. What more if they find out that you're actually both in the mafia's most wanted list? Heck, even Amber should never know about this. She'll surely go bananas all over the place!
"Babe," you immediately felt a shiver as Lay's arm crept around your waist. He's been doing this on a daily basis, waiting for you outside your room after classes, but it seems that you still couldn't get used to the way he greets you. You could still feel your heart fluttering in a funny way.
He lowered his lips next to your ear, probably to make you blush even more. "Are you ready?"
"When you say it that way it sounds like something else." You slightly whined, afraid that if someone else hears him, they'll think of weird things.
Lay smirked. "I like the way your mind works."
"Oh come on!" You slapped his arm, making him laugh. Another reason for people to start staring and whispering again. But you just ignored them and continued walking towards the exit. For some reason, Lay's overflowing confidence seemed to seep a little into you after weeks of sticking to him ever since your fist "exciting" encounter with deadly guys, so you sort of grew out of the timid girl you used to be. You don't get intimidated by little things anymore, because you were too busy dealing with the real intimidations. All of which involved knives, baseball bats, and guns.
"Are you ready?" Lay asked again as you reached the school gates, but this time, you nodded. It's time for another life-threatening adventure: walking home from school. If mafias show up, run, but if everything comes to a dead end, then it's time to kick balls. It's a simple drill, really.
"I love you," he let out a small smile, before pecking you on the lips. You blushed, and shyly smiled back. You could never get enough of this sweet side of him.
"I love you too."
Hand in hand, you walked casually along the side of the school, but as soon as you were out of sight of the other students, your pace quickened and you turned into an alley. Since obviously, the bad guys are always lurking around the main roads, you have to pass through random paths almost unnoticeable. Thanks to Lay's vast knowledge of alleyways and shortcuts, you never got lost.
After what felt like only just a few minutes, you finally reached your house without seeing any mafia. Wow, that's a first. Maybe they already gave up?
No.
Surely not. Mafias don't give up. Not until they've given their enemy a taste of hell. Mouthfuls of it.
And that's when you noticed something was wrong.
"Shit," you cursed as you ran into the house. The gate wasn't locked. The mother effing men has broken in. It's not surprising that they'll eventually find out where you live, even if it took them 3 freakin months, but what's surprising was that the house wasn't trashed, and not a single sign of violence could be seen.
"Do you think they took something?" Lay asked, obviously worried.
"I don't understand why they'd break in but..." you froze in your tracks as you reached the kitchen. On the wall above the counter was a note, pinned by a knife. You quickly ripped it off and walked back to Lay in the living room.
Surrender now or you leave us with no choice.
You scoffed. "What can they do? They don't have anything more to threaten us with."
It's true. Your family is back in the city, far from this place where you study so it would be impossible for them to track them down. Lay's grandmother, his only close family, is back in China and only him and you know that fact so that would be more than impossible for the mafia to chase down.
"Shall we surrender?" You glanced up at Lay, and he only looked at you with amused eyes. You know that look. That playful YiXing look, indicating he's up for some mischief. And surely, his answer is freaking hell no.
"Guys?" Both you and Lay jumped at the voice. As you realized it was just Amber, you heaved a huge sigh of relief.
"Goddamnit Amber, next time please knock!"
"Gosh you two get scared like 90-year-old men with dementia! Why? Were you about to do some 'weird stuff' and didn't expect to be interrupted?"
Lay awkwardly coughed.
"Ew Amber! Seriously, you have a very weird mind." You scrunched up your nose, but it seems Lay was enjoying the topic. Ugh, pervert. You elbowed him in the stomach, but he just laughed. "What are you doing here anyway?"
"It's been a while since I hung out with you. Because you know, you were too busy hanging out with your 'new' favorite person." She made special emphasis for the word "new." You groaned, but Lay just chuckled at her comment.
Yeah, Amber is aware that you and Lay are dating. She didn't seem that surprised when she first knew, and all she did was tease you almost every 2 freaking seconds for having "the hottest boyfriend in the world." She was so cool about it, and it was surprising that she wasn't intimidated by him even if the rumors surrounding him were not all that good.
"What's that?" Amber suddenly scooted closer, wanting to read the note in your hand. Your eyes widened and you immediately crumpled it up.
"Oh nothing. Just uhh..." You frantically glanced at Lay.
"Just weird stuff." He finished, having this annoying 'pffft' face. You glared up at him, but he just flashed an innocent smile.
But then the note was whipped out of your hand.
"Hmmm, let's see what kind of weird stuff you guys write to each other." Amber said evilly as she dodged your efforts in getting the note back.
"No! Wait! Amber--"
"What's this?" She froze, and you felt your blood run cold. You glanced at Lay. He looked unsure as well. Amber looked up to give you this questioning look. "Surrender to whom? Why? What did you do?"
"It's kind of complicated..."
Her eyes widened. "HOLY SHIT ARE THE POLICE AFTER YOU?!!!"
"NO GODDAMNIT!!!" You sighed and tried to speak calmly. "It's not the police. It's... the mafia."
She had this blank face for a few seconds. Then she smiled sarcastically. "Oh suuure~ the Mafia~"
You fought the urge to facepalm. "Ugh, no, Amber. Seriously. It's been three months. Starting from that day when--"
You were cut off when you heard the faint swinging of the gate. Someone was trying to sneak in again. Lay had his swiss knife in a flash, and you slightly crouched down, motioning for Amber to step closer and away from the front door. But she seemed unable to comprehend the situation.
"Um, what?"
Suddenly, the door burst open, and three men barged in. One of them grabbed Amber before she could even run. He held a knife against her throat.
"Um, guys? What is happening?" Her voice shook, and she didn't dare move an inch. The other two men pointed their guns at you and Lay. You immediately recognized one of the men. It was the same evil guy in shades you encountered three months ago. He looks more evil now than back then.
"It would be easy for us to kill you right here, right now." He chuckled. "Unfortunately, we need Zhang YiXing alive. Oh, and you too, miss ______. Seeing you fight these past months made us realize that you're quite special as well. We can do wonders with someone like you."
"Fvck you. I'm not going anywhere." You spat out. Amber gasped as the knife on her neck pressed harder. Evil man started pacing around the room, like what cliché evil men do in movies. Psh, maybe he thinks it makes him even cooler.
"Why don't we make this an easy deal? You surrender, and your friend lives. If you refuse, well, we'll torture her until you agree."
"You motherfu--"
Lay grabbed your hand before you could charge recklessly. Lay's right. You have to be tactical to survive this.
"_____, I don't wanna die." Amber whimpered.
You gave her a sorry look, one that apologized for letting her get caught up in this mess. "Yeah. Don't worry Amber, we got you."
"I'll go."
"What?" You hissed and grabbed Lay when he stepped forward, but he gave you a stern look. You shut your mouth and backed off. He has a plan. "But you can't get ______. You can do anything you want with me. Just let Amber and her go."
"Fair deal," evil man shrugged. But we all know he doesn't like fair deals. Slowly, Lay walked forward, while you stood there, waiting for the right time. And just as evil man grabbed him, he quickly turned and elbowed him in the stomach. You leapt forward and twisted the hand of one gun man while he was distracted, and you rammed the handle at the back of his head, making him faint. And just at the same time, Lay smashed a nearby trophe at the head of Amber's captor.
"Amber! Run!" You screamed as you pointed the gun at evil man. But instead of heading to the door, Amber ran towards you. Before you could even think of what she wanted to do, she already had twisted your hand, snatched the gun, and pointed it right against the back of your head.
"Why do you two have to be so stubborn?" She sighed sadly and clucked her tongue. You stared at Lay wide-eyed, and he stared back with the same confusion and surprise in his eyes. He made sure he had the gun pointed against evil man's head as well, hopefully to make things even.
"Amber, why are you doing this?"
"Oh God do I really have to explain?" You could imagine her rolling her eyes. "Well, you and Lay were already making things too stressful for us. Because of your reports to the police, we already lost so much men and now, we can't make money properly."
"You're part of the mafia?" You whispered incredulously. Is she joking? Is this sort of a play? Are there cameras in here?
"I'm the daughter of the boss. How do you think they found out about Lay's secret crush on you? Your school? Your address?"
It was so hard to believe. Your best friend was not a real friend after all. The strong bond you thought you had, it turns out to be non-existent. You could feel sadness, anger, and disappointment blend into something overwhelming and washed all over you. This is probably what they call the feeling of betrayal.
"It was fun playing with you these past months by the way. But sadly, it has to end now. Lay, put the gun down if you don't want my best friend die today."
Best friend.
Best friend my ass.
"You put the gun down." Lay hissed. Oh he is pissed. Good luck to you, Amber. Go send us a letter as soon as you reach hell.
Amber laughed. "That guy's nothing to me. Kill him now, I don't care. But surely, you care for ______."
Evil man's eyes widened. For the first time, he actually looked like a helpless dog. Lay's eyes narrowed, and ever so slightly, he pressed on the trigger to tease. The man started whimpering.
"Oh God Amber please I don't want to die!"
"Shut up you idiot!"
"You wouldn't really care if they kill me?!! I thought we were close! I thought you were my baby sister!!!"
As they started bickering. You made eye contact with Lay.
You blinked once.
You blinked twice.
And as you blinked again, you quickly ducked, and the world seemed to turn in slow motion. Lay moved his aim to Amber, and a loud bang echoed as he fired. The bullet pierced through the air, and grazed against the barrel of Amber's gun. She yelped in surprise, dropping the gun in the process. You quickly rolled away and snatched the gun, aiming it at Amber.
"Siblings, huh." You laughed bitterly, and Amber looked pissed. "Well, you both tell your dad to go get the fvck off our asses, because you will never be able to catch us."
She only stared right back, not able to say any smartass remarks anymore.
"Hello, police?" Lay spoke through the phone, apparently already stepping on the back of evil man with a gun pointed to his head. It was quite an amusing sight, really. "Yeah, we've apparently caught the daughter and the son of the mafia boss we've been hunting around. Yeah. Yeah ok. Can you please hurry? 'Cause they're seriously a pain in the ass. Thanks."
You chuckled and shook your head. "Shall we tie them up?"
"Maybe it would be fun for them upside down." He mused, making you laugh.
"He'll come for you." Amber spat out as you finished tying them up on chairs. You no longer felt pity for her. This was not the Amber you called your best friend. This was someone else: the heartless daughter of a mafia boss. You just laughed at her.
"He can try."
Police sirens rang faintly from a distance, and you heard Lay sigh. He grabbed you by the waist and pulled you in for a short, sweet kiss.
"It isn't over, is it?"
He looked at you with those warm eyes, before answering.
"It doesn't matter. What's important, is that we're together."
