"Guys?" You called out, but heard nothing other than the crickets. The moon was full and the trees looked quite sinister under the dark sky, reminding you every second that joining this game was not a good idea in every way.

You shouldn't have said yes.

You shouldn't have been scared of getting disappointed stares.

You shouldn't have thought that they will never leave you alone in this creepy forest.

Having no jacket to protect yourself from the biting cold, you just hugged youself and continued walking aimlessly. It was impossible to see anything far ahead due to the deep shadows, and there's no cell reception in this place. This camping only went wrong in so many levels.

"Guys I give up! I'll just sleep outside okay?" But of course, no answer. Fricking bitches. They're probably enjoying themselves with their boyfriends now that they successfully got rid of the only single girl in the group.

"'Let's play hide and seek. If you find us you get to keep your tent. Nyanyanyanyanya.' Lying bitch." You mocked Lara's voice in an exaggerated version. Grunting, you started brisk walking, not caring anymore if a ghost hears you kicking away fallen leaves. You took out your phone to try calling Lara again but of course, to no avail.

You rolled your eyes and was about to mutter something, but suddenly heard crunching of leaves from not that far away.You froze.

"Uhh... Hello?" It came out carefully, since you had no idea if it was someone good or bad or if it even was human.

"Lara?" You hid behind a tree just in case. "Sehun? Amber?"

A few seconds later, the person walked away as if he never even realized you were there. Squinting, you tried to see past the shadows, but it was impossible. Well, if it was someone from the group, he should've called your name if he was searching for you. Being left alone might actually be better than be with a serial killer.

Sighing, you slowly stepped away from the tree, but your back hit against something hard. You looked around, and saw someone's stomach.

A bare stomach.

You looked up and saw an insanely tall guy looking down at you in curiosity.

And when you looked down, it's like a brick was slapped across your face. He had horse legs. The skin from his stomach slowly faded into a black tint with fur, and he even had white linings on the ankles.

He was half man and half horse. He was a... a...

"...a centaur," you whispered, unable to stop staring at his stomach. Okay, let's just say his abs were more marvelous than his animal feet.

"Human," his low voice slightly shocked you, making you look up at him again. You realized that he looked like an average person--quite a handsome person, actually--if his nonhuman part were to be ignored.

His dark eyes sligtly narrowed.

"What are you doing here?"

"I... I um... I was uhh..." You blinked as you stuttered dumbly. What the hell is happening? Did they put drugs in your water bottle earlier? Or is this creature really right in front of your eyes?

"You're not supposed to be here." He stepped forward, almost making you stumble back.

"I-I-I know! I'm sorry! I didn't know where I was going and uhh... I'm lost, I guess..." You looked away, unable to match the intense gaze he was giving you. The few seconds he didn't reply painfully felt like forever.

"Go. You don't belong here." Finally, he stepped back to make way, his four hooves crunching against the crisp leaves. Nodding frantically, you started walking to a random direction. But then realized that it would be quite stupid to head off to another unknown path.

"Um, may I ask..." You whipped around and thankfully, he was still there. It was amazing how his dark fur glistened under the moonlight and the way the shadows were cast across his fine features. "Do you... Do you know where the main road is?"

Once again, he looked at you with intensity in his eyes, as if he was trying to figure out who you were and what you were thinking. It was quite funny because it was you supposed to be doing that.

"It's far from here. You've stayed too far from your way." You nodded slowly. Well, that's bad news right?

"Oh. Okay. Thanks." You turned around though still clueless to where to go. Welp, you're already good as dead anyway. And here you are talking to a centaur like a good ol' mate.

"You can't walk there alone." He walked towards you, much to your surprise. "There are other more creatures out there, believe me or not. And most may not be as friendly."

"Are you saying..." you trailed off, unable to say the words yourself.

"I'll bring you there." He looked away for a moment, and it seemed like he slightly blushed. But it may just be your imagination.

"Well uh... okay. Let's go." You stepped forward, but he suddenly grabbed your arm. His hand was surprisingly warm even though it was cold as heck.

"Seriously? You're going to walk?" He looked more embarrassed than irritated. "You can... You can ride me."

"What?" You blinked. His eyes widened.

"I-I mean you can ride on my back. It will be a while and your feet will hurt if you walk."

"Oh..." You blushed as well, late in realizing his words. Well that was so frickin awkward. He kneeled down to lower his horse-body, and you unconsciously ran a hand through the soft fur. It felt so amazing.

"H-hey. I can feel that, ok?"

"O-oh. Sorry." You withrew your hand and just carefully climbed up his back. You decided to sit with both legs on one side, because straddling him might end up feeling weird for both of you.

"Ready?"

"Mhmm..." He stood up, and you had to wrap your hands around his waist to avoid falling off.

He was so warm......

"Hey..." His low voice snapped you out of your daze.

"Y-yeah?"

"What were you doing alone out here?"

"I was with my friends..." Your stomach twisted sourly at the thought of those 'friends'. "We had a little game, but I ended up lost, I guess."

"You shouldn't even roam the forest at night, especially on a full moon. You humans keep on getting yourselves into trouble."

"Why are you helping me, then?"

"Well, no one would believe you anyway if you say you rode a centaur through the forest."

"Yah!" You slapped his back. Oh, so he knows how to be annoying. Though you couldn't see his face from this angle, you could tell he was smiling.

"And you didn't look like an abusive person." He added, making you pause. For a moment, you realized that the forest didn't look that scary anymore now that you have a companion. It rather felt... peaceful.

"Do you have a name?" You asked a bit shyly.

"Yes. It's Kai."

"Kai...," you whispered, liking how smooth his name sounded.

"And you are?"

"______." You smiled. He nodded. As you continued to look up at the starry sky, you started to feel the exhaustion from hours of walking. Without even thinking much, you laid your head against Kai's nape.

"Is it okay if I rest for a while?" You mumbled, fighting the urge to yawn.

"Yeah... sure." You closed your eyes, now only feeling Kai's steady steps and his soft breathing. And you still had your arms wrapped around his torso, by the way.

"Can you tell me something about yourself?" You mumbled.

"About me?"

"Mhmm..."

He paused, most probably deciding if it would be safe to reveal his story to a human.

"Don't worry, I'll forget most of this the next day anyway."

"Oh," he sounded a bit disappointed. After a while, he cleared his throat."Well... uhh... I'm a centaur."

You softly chuckled. That is so obvious now, pabo. "I live just around this part of the forest."

"Are there other more like you?"

"Yes. A lot. And other more creatures you could imagine. It would surprise most humans when they realize that their fantasies are actually unproved truths."

"Are you the good creatures?" You were starting to drift into unconsciousness, but fought it as you wanted to know a bit more.

"Who's good and who's bad is not distinguished by which species. There are good ones and bad ones in each."

"Mmm..."

Your grip on him started to loosen, but you felt him hold your hands in place. His warmth felt incredibly soothing.

"Kai..."

"Hm?"

"Will I be seeing you another time?"

His silence was so long that you thought he would never answer.

"No... Not soon, I'm sorry." For some reason, you felt your heart ache at that.

"I'll wait, then..."

It was the last thing you mumbled, and it was the pure truth. Before sleep completely consumed you, you felt Kai softly squeeze you hand.

"I hope you do."

You were woken up by loud giggles and splashing of water. Groaning, you slowly peeled yourself off the floor, and then realized your back hurt like hell.

"Wow, you really did sleep outside." Lara's high pitched voice greeted you, followed by her annoying chuckles. It was already a little late in the morning, and the others were already taking a bath in the nearby river. You almost died alone in the forest last night, but they don't even realize a thing. Tch.

As you sat up, you realized that you were under thick blankets, most probably saving you from hypothermia.

"How did I..."

Kai.

You shot upright and frantically looked around.

"Kai..." you whispered, wanting to see him once again but of course, that is far from possible. It broke your heart once again knowing that you may never be able to see him again. Sighing deeply, you just proceeded to tidy up the blankets and the poor excuse as a bed.

And that's when you saw a strange stone just beside your pillow. You picked it up. It had something carved on it.

"When the moon is full."

You looked up. The moon has gone past the full moon. But it will be full once again. Not soon, but you will wait.

Feeling a new sense of hope, you secured the stone in your pocket.

I will wait.
