"Amber, did you take my necklace?" You yelled through the bathroom door, starting to feel frustrated again. You just took a 5-minute bath then boom, you lost another something for the thousandth time of the week.
"Heck no! And what am I even supposed to do with that girly necklace of yours?" Amber yelled back. You could hear her shuffling around as she prepared to go to her night job. "And you seriously have to start tidying things. You keep on losing your shit!"
"But I just put it here and..." you whined more to yourself as you helplessly looked at the towel rack. You could definitely swear you placed it right there above the top towel, thinking that it's impossible to lose this time. Shaking your head, you just stepped out of the bathroom, having only a towel wrapped around your body.
Amber gave you a nagging look, and you know all too well what she's going to say.
"Yeah yeah I got it! But I swear I don't just throw around my things anymore. I'm sure I put them in places I remember, but they still disappear. It's like... Like someone's taking them!"
"Who? Me?" Amber rolled her eyes. "There's only two of us here, ______. How else would you lose them? And if somone's taking them, then why only take your things?"
"But..."
"I'm heading out now, sis. Don't lose any more things. My pay is crappy and we can only afford rent now. Seriously, you have to find a job too."
"I'm trying." You grumbled and let yourself fall down the bed. The place turned silent as Amber finally left. You exhaled loudly as you stared up at the empty ceiling. Gosh, independent life is hard.
It's only been a week since your parents kicked you out the house. They said the two of you were already old enough to work instead of just sulking around the house after college. So now, you and your older sister Amber are living in a tiny apartment in the city, having only enough money for food and the first month's rent pay. So you seriously have to get a job too.
Groaning, you stood up and decided to get dressed. Better work on resumés now so you can start looking tomorrow. Dropping your towel along the way, you went to your tiny closet to grab just any clothing appropriate, and ended up with pink panther shorts and a low v-neck shirt. Your hair was still dripping wet, so you bent down to grab the towel. But then it wasn't there.
"What the fuck..." you mumbled, slowly looking around. It was nowhere to be seen. Gripping your hair in frustration, you sharply inhaled and looked around like you were starting to lose your mind.
"Seriously. Who in the actual fuck is taking away my things?!!"
You proceeded to frantically look inside drawers, under the beds, behind cabinets, and basically anywhere else a person could hide.
"GIVE ME BACK MY TOWEL!!!"
You screeched. Then something suddenly tapered over your head. Stumbling, you pulled it off your face, and realized it was the towel you've been looking for. You whipped around, but nobody was there. That's it. A demon must be playing with you.
Slowly, you stepped back towards the bedside table. You have to call someone. Maybe Amber. Or maybe your mom. Anyone would probably do, as long as you could say your death wish before the demon takes you away too.
Just as you were about to grab your phone, a hand grabbed your wrist. almost screaming, you looked up, but your breath got caught in your throat as you saw a tall, handsome boy, having this dark long hair that complimented his beautiful tan skin. He had a mischievous smile, and a lively sparkle in his eyes as he slowly shook his head.
"I recommend you don't do that."
His deep voice seemed to tickle your earbuds. When your gaze shifted to his strange pointy ear, you snapped out of your trance and jumped away.
"People will think you've gone cra-cra if you tell them about what you think is happening around here."
"Wh-wh-who the hell are you?!!"
You tried your best not to notice the fact that he was only wearing an open vest, and his chiseled abs and chest were basically saying hi. It was a very difficult task.
"I'm Chanyeol." He winked.
You slowly backed away, hoping that he wouldn't notice that you're heading towards the door.
"Have you... Have you been the one stealing my shit?"
He chuckled at your terminology. "I'm not stealing them. I'm keeping them safe for you."
"Safe?" You scoffed. "I don't need anyone keeping my shit safe! And if you're not stealing them, then why don't I quickly get them back?"
"I returned your towel." He shrugged. "And I don't return them until you need them already."
"Well I need my necklace now!"
"No you don't." He said as if he was definitely sure.
"Oh yes I frickin do!" You screamed. "You know what, forget it. I'll just tell the landlady there's a creep robbing us here!"
You turned around to grab the doorknob, but you froze when Chanyeol was already standing there, smiling as if nothing was wrong.
"How did you... I thought you..." You pointed at his place earlier, completely dumbstruck. Then you looked at him, now partly horrified. The other part is still at awe of his abs.
"What the hell are you?"
"Thought you'd never ask." His eyes sparkled. He bent down to kiss your hand. "I'm an elf, miss ______. From that day you moved into my little home, I decided that I would be your 'keeper.'"
"Keeper?" You stepped back a little, because he was unbelievably tall and it was so hard tilting your head up just to look at him. "Home? What do you mean we moved into your home?"
"I've lived in this spot for so many years now." He slyly waved his hand around. "Even when this apartment was still just an old restaurant. Elves normally hate people stepping over their homes, so they steal things for revenge, but you can say I'm different."
He suddenly became a blur, and when you blinked, he was already sitting back at the bed. Oookay. So maybe he really is an elf.
"You know, you're quite a clumsy girl." He suddenly said, flustering you.
"Wh-what? No I'm not!"
"Yes you are," he laughed. "You were about to slip on your towel earlier because you left it carelessly on the floor. And if I didn't take your necklace there in the bathroom, it would've fell into the toilet when you took out the towel."
"But I..." you began, but then the realization hit you. He was right. You placed the necklace at the top towel, and before you could even realize the necklace was there, you pulled out the towel you used to wrap around your body. You bit your lip and bowed, blushing in embarassment.
"Don't worry, it's safe with me." He lifted his wrist, and there was your necklace, wrapped around beautifully like it belonged there. And the items in that pouch around his waist were probably yours as well.
"Can I... Can I have it back now?" You mumbled. He raised a brow.
"Do you need it already?"
"Well, I kind of feel incomplete without it... So..."
He pondered over it for a while, before he turned into a blur again. In just a split second, you felt the necklace slide up your neck as he secured it from behind. When he was done, he returned to the bed. For some reason, you felt like the necklace is now a little more special, considering that an elf wore it around his wrist.
A handsome elf.
"So does this mean, as long as we live here, you're going to 'keep' things once in a while?"
"When I need to."
"But what if I become careful of my things from now on?"
"Well.. I do randomly keep things I fancy sometimes." He flashed a mischievous smile.
Yo rolled your eyes, though you felt the urge to smile as well. It's impossible not to smile back when he makes that goddarn beautiful face.
"Well are you going to randomly pop out on me from now on?"
"You're the first human that ever saw me," he said, making you raise eyebrows. So other people has misplaced so many things without even knowing that an elf lives here? "But I guess you're better to talk to than the other grumpy elves."
He lightly laughed. Then, he turned into a blur, and reappeared right in front of you. He was so close that you could almost touch his honey abs.
"So yeah, I might pop out every now and then."
He lifted up your hand to kiss it again.
"I'll just be lurking around, human. 'Til next time."
And then he disappeared, leaving you alone once again. You stood still for a few more seconds, quite hoping he'll reappear again, but he didn't. Sighing, you held a hand up your necklace as your head became filled with everything about Chanyeol.
Well, I guess being clumsy has its perks after all.
