It's lunch time at XOXO high, and I was eating outdoors by myself in the school's garden.

This is my secret hangout, and no one knows about this place.

And it's not that I have no friends or anything, but it's becuase I find it too loud in the cafeteria.

'It really is peaceful here.' I thought, the birds chirping and the gentle breeze flying through the air.

"Hey Luhan." my friend Minseok suddenly greeted me, walking to where I was seated.

Well no one knows about this place except my friends.

"Wassup Min." I reply as he frowns.

"Dude my name's Xiumin now ok?" He said with an annoyed look on his face.

"Is... that a new nickname?" I asked as he nodded smugly.

"And... am I supposed to be happy about that?" I asked, confused.

"Well you should be! Because from my fangirls, they're loving my new name." Mins-Xiumin said.

"They said that it has a nice Chinese tone to it." he said as I scoffed.

"That's because I chose the name for you. I'm Chinese, remember?" I replied, remembering how Minseok hyung asked me for a name one day.

"Ok, fine. I guess I did get some help from you. But thanks for the name bro. You should have a nickname too." Xiumin commented.

"Ok. I don't think I need a nickname Xiumin." I said, sipping on my strawberry milk.

"Well whatever." Xiumin mumbled. "Wait I know! Why don't you ask Hye Young during practice today?" Xiumin asked as my pale cheeks flushed a pink hue.

"Aha! So you do like her." Xiumin teases me.

"I-It's not like I like her, but I'm just interested in her, that's all." I stammer.

"Yeah, yeah, you're 'interested'. Lies. I know what's going on in your mind Luhan." my friend gives me a creepy smirk.

"Dude. You're weird, you know that?" I stated as Xiumin rolled his eyes.

"Then if I'm weird, then what about you, Mr. Baby face-deer-prince-that-looks-like-an-old-man-when-he-laughs?" Xiumin says as I give him a look.

"What?" I asked as he laughed. "It's true. Oh your fangirls gave you the name 'deer prince,' and don't ask me why." Xiumin said.

"Deer prince? Since when did I turn into an princely innocent animal? " I asked Xiumin as my eyebrows furrowed.

He shrugs. "I dont know. Why don't you just ask Hye Young? She knows almost everything about anything." Xiumin said, smiling.

"If you tell Kris, Chanyeol, or Sehun to come and bully and push me towards Hye Young like last week, then I'll kill you." I gave Xiumin an angry look.

"Hey it wasn't entirely my fault! Sehun told me to! It's not fair that he's your favorite dongsaeng when you're mine!" Xiumin looks at me as he chews on his baozi.

Xiumin just can't get enough of the thing when I introduced it to him months ago. He's crazy for it now.

"Hurry up and eat hyung. Lunch is almost over." I said, checking my watch. Xiumin nods and quickly eats his baozi.

As my friend eats his lunch, I sip my strawberry milk and wonder if I really should talk to Hye Young today.

"And chorus! Yes that's good. Kyungsoo, more energy! Kris, don't be so lazy. Yes. Lay, that passion is good! I love it!" our dancer hyung commented on our dancing.

"And..... finish. That was the bomb guys. You guys did a good job. Keep practicing and then you guys will melt all those hearts!" Taewon hyung said.

"Thanks hyung!" we all chorused. "Aish I'm so tired!!!" Xiumin said loudly, sitting down.

"I'm beat. I have no energy left." I said as my members sat down to rest beside me.

"Oh Lulu, you need energy to talk to Hye Young. Did you forget already?" Xiumin said as it caught the attention of the members.

"Ooo is Luhan hyung finally confessing to her?" Sehun teased me as I hit his arm.

"No, I'm just asking her something." I said.

"But is the question 'Will you be my girlfriend?'" Chen joined in the conversation.

"No..." I said, shaking my head. "Dude. We all know that you like her. Why don't you just ask her out already?" Kris said.

"I don't think Hye Young-" I started as the door opened. "You don't think I would what?" her velvety voice rang around the room.

"Hi Hye Young!" Chanyeol said excitedly as all eyes landed on her. The members looked at me and I stared back in fear.

"Hey guys!" she waved and joined us, sitting in a circle on the floor.

"So why're you guys talking about me?" she asks as my friends' eyes all trail to me.

I gulped. "Luhan ge? Anything wrong?" Hye Young asks me as I shake my head.

"N-Nothing's wrong." I stutter as my cheeks flushed pink.

"Actually, Luhan does have something to tell you." Mins- I mean Xiumin hyung says loudly as I turn to glare at him.

"Hyung's just too shy." Sehun chimes in as Hye Young looks at me.

"Oh really?" she asks as my friends bob their heads in agreement.

"Well, if you need to ask me or tell me anything, you can come over after practice is done. I have to go now. Hanna unnie is waiting for me." Hye Young says, referring to her trainer as she gets up.

"Bye guys! Fighting! Annyeong Luhan ge!" she waves and smiles cutely before disappearing behind the door.

I sighed. I was relieved, and a bit.... upset.

As Hye Young's footsteps were out of earshot, my friends cheered, hooted, and clapped their hands.

"Wah!!!" my friends shouted as my cheeks were still flushed pink.

Awesome. Here comes the endless teasing.

"Man you're really lucky Lu hyung!" Chanyeol cheers and smiles.

"She mentioned your name and only your name at the end!" Sehun chirped.

"She was all like 'Bye Luhan ge! Muah!'" Chen faked a girl's voice and pretended to kiss the air, making everyone laugh.

"Guys." I said with a groan. "Stop it. You're embarassing me." I whine.

"Our little Luhan is in love~" Xiumin hyung sings as the guys continue to pester and annoy me with their teasing.

I went to my bag and drank a few gulps of water to cool myself down.

"Ok guys! Up and again! Just a few more times and then vocal lessons!" Taewon hyung says, capturing everyone's attention.

We all get back to our dance positions and practice our dancing for a while until Taewon hyung approved.

"Great practice guys! Sleep early, and get plenty of food and rest! I'll see you guys on Friday!" Taewon hyung says, encouraging us after and tiring day.

After vocal lessons, I was walking around the SM building.

My friends decided to go back to our dorm first, and I was waiting for Hye Young to finish her practice.

After ten minutes of waiting, I couldn't stay patient anymore.

I walked towards her training room and heard upbeat and fun music being blasted so loud that it could be heard from where I was standing.

I peeked inside to see her dancing.

I didn't see her trainer, Hanna noona. Then why was Hye Young still dancing?

I watched her dance to the song with fluid-like moves, making me mesmorized.

I heard the music stop, and that's when Hye Young noticed me.

"Oh... Hi Luhan ge." Hye Young stutters. "H-How long have you been watching me?"

"I-I j-just watched you once the song started. Y-You're a really good dancer." I compliment her as she blushes a rosy red on her cheeks.

"Thanks. Did your practice end already?"

"Yeah. The members went back to our dorm." I say as an awkward silence envelopes us.

"Well I'm staying here for a little longer, do you mind?" Hye Young asks as I nod.

"No it's ok. Are you going to continue to dance?" I ask as she nods. "I'll watch you."

Hye Young nods again and asks me to play the music for her. She quickly gets back to her original position and I start the music.

"Wah! You're really good!" I clap as she thanks me.

"Did you like it?" she asks as I nod with blushing cheeks.

"That's good. I thought I messed up a few times though..." she mumbled as I disagreed.

"No! It.... it was perfect." I said, breathing out.

Hye Young's face lit up and she grabbed my hand.

"Luhan ge, can you please teach me your new song? Please?!!" she asked.

"Umm... I don't know. The dance moves are a but difficult..." I respond as she pouts and frowns.

"So you're saying that I can't do it?" she asks as I give her a nervous chuckle.

"Come on oppa! Teach me! Show me the dance! Pleaseee?!!" Hye Young whines as I laugh.

"Ok, ok. Stop whining." I laugh with her.

"Well, I want to start with the beginning, but I'll go up to this part." I say, searching for our new song on my phone.

"Actually, can I watch you first Lu? Then you can teach me." Hye Young says as I nod.

I plugged my phone to the boom box, and our new sing 'Overdose' came on.

I quickly get into my position and start dancing and singing my parts.

But I nearly missed a few steps because Hye Young called me oppa.

Oppa.

Oppa I tell you, oppa.

Normally, if you're close to Hye Young, she either calls your name with an -ah at the end, or if you're Chinese like me, she'll add a -ge { which means brother } at the end.

She once wanted to call us hyungs because the word oppa was a hateful word in Hye Young's vocabulary.

Now, she's gotten much more comfortable with it, and she only calls my friends and I that if something's important.

I danced with a serious face during the whole time, and I can tell that Hye Young was impressed.

"Wow! Luhan ge, you're really good at dancing too!" Hye Young claps after I finished.

"Thanks." I smile. "Now, I'll teach you the part where we go 'Her love, her love~'" I say as she smiles and runs over to my side.

"Let's begin!" Hye Young smiles and laughs as I smile along with her.

Dancing with Luhan ge is really fun. He taught me most of the dance, and I was really proud of myself for learning so much in such little time too.

And as Luhan ge helped me with all the difficult moves, I couldn't help but blush when his hands touched my arms, making them be in the right angle or position.

Our hands also accidentally brushed, but I don't think he noticed that.

I was smiling when I danced to Touch My Body too, just to give him some signals. When I saw that he smiled back, my heart jumped and I tried to dance better than ever.

Actually, I watched his face the entire time of the song, seeing how he looked shocked and amused at the same time.

I saw his little smiles and raised eyebrows.

Also, I couldn't dance horribly in front of my Luhan ge, he'd be disappointed, and I'd feel horrible.

I really wanted to impress him, and I guess I did. With his dance and Sistar sunbae's dance, I think Luhan was impressed.

But I did notice him being all weird when I visited them earlier. Why were the guys talking about me?

After sixteen more minutes of teaching and learning, I had learned and mastered most of the dance.

Actually, I can't really say that I mastered it, I just.... got the hang of it I guess.

I sighed heavily and breathed a large quantity of air to fill my lungs. I grabbed a towel, drank my water, and wiped away all the sweat.

'This is so embarrassing!' I thought, mortified.

I seriously can't believe that I'm sweating and looking so awful in front if him! What will he think of me now?

Luhan ge chuckles. "If you think you look horrible or smell, you don't." He says, drinking his water.

"Believe me, the members smell wayyyy worse ok?" he asks me as we both laugh.

"Jinja?" I ask as he nods, chuckling.

"G-Gomawo." I stutter. Stop stuttering Hye Young! Get yourself together!

"Delivery!" a guy suddenly said from the hallway. I look at Luhan ge with a confused face.

"I didn't order anything, did you ge?" I asked him as he shook his head.

"I didn't either. Is it a wrong order? I'll go check ok?" Luhan asks as I nod and watch him do into the hallway.

I use this time to look at my phone, which was spammed with messages from my friend KyungMi and the guys.

I blush after reading my best friend's text, and I have to remember to embarrass her in front of Kyungsoo later.

I ship them; SooMi. My best friend, who is also a trainee like me, has fallen head over heels for the squishy and cute member of EXO. I was so crazy when I found out and vice versa for her.

But back to the texts: I swear the guys are a bit overprotective, and that KyungMi is just crazy.

I never told her about staying behind and dancing with Luhan ge.

Perhaps, did the guys tell her about it? About us?

'Byun Baekhyun, you're so dead!' I thought of the male gossip of the group. He tells everyone almost everything, I swear!

Luhan's head pokes in the room and he walks towards me.

"The guy says that it's for us, from an anonymous person. Should we open it?" Luhan asks as I nod.

"I got a few messages. It's from the guys." I say, showing the guys' messages on my phone.

But not the one from KyungMi of course.

"Well, looks like they bought us a lot of stuff." I comment, seeing the multiple boxes of food.

"You don't mind if we eat here right?" I ask him as he shakes his head.

"I don't mind." he answers, setting down the boxes on the floor.

Luhan ge opens one as I open the other.

I widened my eyes as I opened my box, which contained: BUBBLE TEA.

"Wah! It's bubble tea!" I said happily as Luhan peered into the box.

"ASSA!" we cheer. Bubble tea was one of the things that Luhan ge and I both like, have in common, and love.

And with Sehun, we all can't get enough of the addictive drink.

Except it's not bad or anything it's bubble tea for gods sake!

"What do you have?" I ask trying to look into Luhan's box.

"Jajjamyeon" he answers as I smile. "Yay food!" I cheer, but frown immediately.

"Hanna unnie said I had to diet though... for my debut." I said quietly as I remembered unnie's words.

"Oh? There's something for you too!" Luhan says as my hopes get up.

"There's kimchi and tteokguk for you!" Luhan brings my dishes out.

"I guess the members knew about your diet for your debut. Mian." Luhan said sheepishly.

"You have nothing to be sorry about. And besides, I got some bubble tea. I'm happy Lu ge. Don't worry about me!" I say with a smile as Luhan nervously smiles back.

"Let's eat!" I say, splitting my chopsticks in half. "Thank you for the food!" Luhan and I chant as we dig in.

For the evening, we chat about our life and what's happening as we eat and drink our bubble tea.

"So Luhan ge, what did Xiumin ge tell me earlier? Something important?" I asked as Luhan sipped his taro bubble tea and stopped.

"Oh yeah. Hye Young-ah. You know how Minseok hyung's nickname is Xiumin?" he asks me as I nod.

"Yeah, why?" I ask. "He asked me if I should have a nickname, and I don't know if I should or shouldn't." he sighs.

"This is what's troubled you?" I asked, chuckling.

"It's not that funny." He said, pouting.

"Aww you look so cute!" I smile and pat his head. I stop laughing and we look into each other's eyes for a while.

It slowly gets intense, with Luhan's warm brown eyes looking at mine. I was so nervous, my heart started jumping rope.

Luhan slowly inched closer and closer to me, and I broke our silence.

"I... I don't think you need a nickname Lu. Your name is perfect. You're perfect. You don't need to change anything. Even if... Xiumin ge asks you to, you don't have to because... it's what original is best at. It's what original means. Being original and yourself, with no change, whatsoever." I answer with a smile at the end.

Luhan looks at me with a blank face, and then, he smiles.

'Does he like my answer?' I think, worried if my comment made him think otherwise.

"I think you're right Hye Young." he says and gives me a bright smile. "Thank you."

"No problem. If you have any other problems, then you can just tell me." I say as the lights flickered and then blacked out.

"Luhan? Luhan!" I yell, panicking. "I'm right here Hye Young!" he calls as I slowly move towards his voice.

Luhan ~

All of a sudden, the lights just went out. Hye Young called for my name, and I was looking for my phone, so that I can use it as a flashlight in this darkness.

"Where's my phone..." I mumbled, searching my pockets. I felt it in my pocket, and it took it out.

I immediately opened my flashlight app, and I saw Hye Young.

She was panicking. Crying. Scared.

That's why she called my name out so loudly.

"Luhan!" she yelled again as I shine the light towards her.

I saw her face filled with tears, her eyes full of fear, and her body full of panic.

I quickly run to her and hold her in my arms.

"It's ok." I coo, trying to calm her down. "Everything's alright." I say as she cried into my chest.

"Nothing will hurt you because.... I'm right here." I say, patting her back.

Five minutes later, when Hye Young has calmed down, she started talking to me again.

"I-I'm sorry Luhan ge. I have..." she said. "Achluophobia." I answered as she nods.

"Fear of the darkness." she says and sighs. "I-it began when my mom and dad started fighting when I was in elementary school. Because I always interfered with them, dad locked me in the garage with no lights whatsoever. I always cried, waiting for one of them to open the door. My mom would help me after she and dad stopped fighting. Since then, I've always been afraid of the complete darkness. I sleep with a nightlight so that I won't have panic attacks."

"I-I'm sorry. I say quickly as she looks at me. "For having a tough childhood."

Hye Young shakes her head. "No. It's ok. As long as you're here, I'm fine." she says as I blush.

"W-what happened to your mom and dad?" I ask and apologize immediately.

"No it's ok. I suppose you're curious. Well, of course, they divorced when I was in middle school. I lived with my mom till now. Mom and I... we lived a tough life after that. We needed money to support ourselves for the future, and dad stripped mom with most of her things, which left us at almost nothing."

"For months, I would only eat one meal a day, and I'd have multiple jobs. Mom did the same. We were so tired, hungry, and exhausted. We did that so that we can buy a house, have food and clothing, and everything we needed. I felt so bad that I decided to make my future brighter for myself and for my mom. When I told her that I was going to audition and try to become an idol, she supported me. And now, I'm just... trying to follow my dreams and so that I can earn more money so that mom and I can live a good life."

Hye Young stops talking, and another tear falls out. "I'm sorry. I'm really emotional... I sometimes just can't stop crying." she says as my heart feels a stab of pain and hurt.

"B-but it feels good to let it all o-out, you k-know?" she asks as I pat her hair softly.

"Sorry Luhan." she apologizes again.

"You don't have to apologize to me, you're doing nothing wrong." I say as she stops and looks at me.

I wipe away her tears and hug her. Where did I get the courage to do this?

"You've done nothing wrong to me or your parents. You've done the right thing to help out your mom, so it was your dad's fault for what happened. Don't blame yourself ever. Even after all this. You're going to debut soon, and I know plenty of people who are cheering you on and supporting you. and after you debut, you and your mom will have a better life. I know it." I say as her arms slowly wrap around my waist.

"Thank you Luhan oppa. For everything." she says as the light suddenly flicker on.

We look at each other and blush, and slowly let go.

"We-I-We should c-clean up." I stammer as she nods. We clean our stuff in silence, and we speak with an occasional stammer.

I walked Hye Young to her dorm, and I gave her one last hug before she closed the door.

I set out to go back to my dorm, where my friends were already tired and sleeping in their rooms.

It's been a few days since Luhan saw my panic attack. And it's also a few more weeks until my debut.

For this week, Hanna unnie and I choreographed my dance, and I practiced my songs as well.

Today, Hanna unnie was taking me to see my manager.

"Annyeonghaseyo Kim Hye Young-mida." I greeted a woman who is pretty and looks kind.

"Annyeonghaseyo Hye Young-ah. I'm Lee Bona, your manager. Let's get along!" she greeted me, reaching her hand out for a handshake.

"Ne unnie!" I smile and shake her hand.

The day after was a makeover day. I had my long black hair chopped, dyed, and styled to perfection.

My black hair was now as long up to mid waist, the stylist dyed it a dark brown; it was smooth and sleek and curled to perfection.

Sure, it's a simple hairstyle, but I love it.

I stared at myself in the mirror, wondering if this was the real me. Bona unnie beams at me and tells me how pretty I look.

For the next few days, I went to the studio to record my debut and album songs, and my music video too.

And now, after few more weeks of practicing, I was going to debut.

Bona unnie made plans for me, she said that I was going to have a debut stage rather than for my music video to come out first.

I agreed, but I was anxious and scared. What if people don't like me? what if I get anti-fans? What if everything goes horribly wrong and I-

"Hye Young." I hear his familiar honey voice.

"Luhan ge." I approach him. We were apparently going to perform on stage, with him and EXO dancing and singing to their newest current song, Overdose; while I have my debut stage.

It's almost time for my performance, and I'm so nervous that I'm sweating, which wasn't good for my makeup.

"Hey." he said, seeing me shake. "Don't be nervous. You'll do well." he says, cheering.

"Gomawo Lu ge. But ge, what if all the lights turn off? What if I fall and trip on stage? What if-"

"That's what I used to think when I debuted. Don't worry, nothing will happen to you. I know it." Luhan says, smiling.

The lights were bright, nearly blinding me even though I'm backstage.

It's time. The announcers were talking about how great EXO'S performance was, and I'm quickly getting ready.

"Go kill them Younggie!" Bona unnie said with a smile.

"Gomawo unnie!" I said and hugged her.

"Good luck Hye Young-ah." Luhan says as I hug him too.

I heard Luhan murmur something, but I heard it clearly: I love you.

I blinked, and Bona unnie ushered me towards the stage, where the hundreds of fans were watching, while the whole world will know me through TV.

My heart was beating so much that I could feel it's beating through my soul.

It was now, not never.

I hear the announcers/mcs announce my debut.

"Hello everyone! Today is a very special day for a special girl!" Ahn Jaehyun said.

"Give it up for Honey, and her new debut song, Darling!" Jung Joonyoung finishes as I hear the crowd clapping and cheering.
