8 - Piper
Piper quickly ran out of her class as soon as the bell rang, she rushed into the library hoping to see Annabeth there. She knew Annabeth spent a lot of time at the library in her free period, so she figured this was the best place to check.
Once entering the library she immediately went to the architecture section, guessing that she would find her there, but was shocked to find it empty, she walked up and down the isles trying to find Annabeth, as she walked down the science fiction aisle she saw a girl sitting down reading, she had long waist length hair, and tan skin, the girl had headphones in so she did not hear Piper approach her. Piper sat down in front of the girl quietly. "What are you reading?" she questions. The girl looked up with a quizzical look on her face, and Piper noticed her light green eyes. She took her headphones out. "What?" she asked, "The book, what's it called?" The girl showed Piper the cover, "Divergent" Piper read aloud. She laughed, the girl raised an eyebrow, "you read this before?" she asked, "No, but a good friend of mine has read it and loved it and wouldn't stop talking about it for over a month" Piper said with a smile, the girl laughed, "Well then your friend has good taste. Shel." She put her hand out, "Piper" she said, shaking her hand.
After a few minutes, they started getting along great, they talked about books, teachers, homework, after a few minutes of silence, "Aren't you dating Jason?" Shel asked breaking the silence, Piper sighed "yea" Shel raised an eyebrow, "Are you not happy with him?" she asked, confused at the way Piper responded. "No! Of course I love him!" she said quickly almost tripping over her words, Shel nodded "The way you said it suggested otherwise"
"No, no no. It's just- " Piper stopped and gave Shel a weird look, "What's it matter to you?" she asked suddenly. "It doesn't. You just look like you need someone to talk to about it." Piper blinked at her a couple of times "You are willing to listen to me ramble about my relationship problems?" she asked, Shel shrugged, "Sure"
"Umm well. Me and Jason met about a year before we started dating, and after a few months I started developing a crush on him. I thought it would pass, but it didn't. Soon we started dating, after I got him to kiss me. We have been dating for about two years, but now he's just getting very spacey, and when I ask him about it he says it's nothing. I just...." Piper stopped "It's stupid isn't it?" Shel put her hand on Piper's knee, "No. It's not stupid, you're just... scared. You love him, and you don't want to lose him"
Piper stared at her, "Where have you been all my life?" she asked jokingly.
They talked for a few more minutes before Shel fell asleep on Piper's shoulder, Piper stared at the girl, Piper stared at her she felt like Edward Cullen watching a beautiful girl sleep. Her eyes widened. 'No' she thought to herself 'you cannot be thinking about other people, you have Jason' she mentally screamed.
Soon after that she too fell asleep, her head leaning on Shel's.
Piper walked up a hill to see a girl sitting in the grass in front of her, her long brown hair had been pulled up into a ponytail, she was beautiful, she couldn't stop herself from thinking that. She sat down next to her, "Hey beautiful" the girl next to her said, she blushed. She had been called beautiful by many people many times, but this felt felt different, "Hi Shelly" she said with a smile on her face, Shel leaned down and planted a kiss on Piper's cheek, but Piper moved her head so instead she kissed her lips. She realized she had never felt like this when she kissed Jason. Jason! Shit! She pulled away, "What's wrong?" she asked concerned "This isn't right" Piper said thinking about Jason. Shel looked at her confused.
Piper woke up to the sound of the bell for the end of school, she looked around, Shel was gone. Piper felt a twinge of disappointment, she was unsure why. Shel was just some girl to whom she had confessed her relationship problems to. That's it. She told herself. Oh my Gods! I missed the game! Piper had promised that she would watch Jason's football game tonight. She bolted out of the library and to the field, but all she saw was rain. She felt a hand grab her shoulder and she turned around quickly. Jason stood there, completely drenched and no longer wearing his uniform. He didn't look very pleased. "Jason... I'm sorry. I just lost track of time-" "Just forget it, okay? Just drive yourself home." Jason turned and left her standing in the hallway all alone.
Since Piper had come to school with Jason, she was forced to walk home in the rain. She kicked puddles and got completely drenched.
When she arrived at her door, she reached for her keys, only to remember that she had left her backpack in her locker. She screamed, and sat down in front of her door pulling her legs to her chest and burying her head and closing her eyes as tears began to fall.
Not too long later, the door opened behind her and she turned around to see her dad standing in the doorway with his arms crossed, his eyes burning with rage. "Where have you been?" he growled. Piper wiped her eyes but it was hopeless, tears continued to fall. "Jason's dad made him come home early, so I had to walk home." It was a complete lie, and she knew it, but she held her head high as high as she could, staring straight into her dad's eyes. He sighed "Get inside now" he said, she got up slipping a couple times, and ran up to her room and collapsed onto her bed in exhaustion.
