Chapter Four
Saturday morning, Colby reluctantly began packing his things. His trip didn't exactly go as planned and he hadn't gotten around to do much sight seeing. Despite all that didn't happen, he was more pleased at what actually did happen. It felt like he had so many reasons so stay in Dublin but none the less, he a job back home to get to. He had his life to return to.
Colby sat down on his suitcase in hopes of pushing everything down. He grabbed the zipper and zipped portions of his suitcase. After getting it half way zipped, he had to let out a sigh of frustration. He grabbed the zipper again and finished zipping his luggage. He stood up and stared at the suit case with victory. It didn't take long for him to realize he was still in his boxers. He did finally have the suitcase zipped but all of his clothes were inside..
"Goddamnit." Colby muttered to himself.
Later that afternoon, he made his way downstairs to the hotel lobby. Colby took one last look at the place where he'd met Rebecca. He was waiting for something to happen, anything.. anyone to stop him from leaving. But this was it. It was time for him to go back to his ordinary life. There was nothing keeping him here in Dublin.
Colby let out a sigh and approached the front desk.
"Name please?" A woman asked.
"Lopez." He told her. "Room 305."
Colby handed his hotel key cards to the receptionist with reluctance.
"And it looks like you've already pre-paid with us sir. So you're good to go. Thank you for your stay." She told him.
He let out a reluctant smile and grabbed his bags. As he walked across the lobby, his phone began to rang. He looked down and read the caller ID, "Bayley."
He couldn't help but let out a smile of relief to see his best friend calling.
Just in front of the Westbury hotel, a black van pulled up and slammed on it's breaks. Before Colby could even realize what was happening, two men in black ski masks jumped out and threw a bag over his head. They grabbed his arms and forced him into the back of the van. They sped off, leaving Colby's things on the sidewalk. His phone still laying on the ground with and incoming call from his life back home.
After being taken to an unknown location, Colby waiting for hours with a black bag on his head until finally, someone released him from his misery.
"Who are you?" Colby asked as he examined the few fairly-well build men in black.
"I am Walter." The man told him. "Enjoy the party."
Colby furrowed his eyes in confusion as the men left the room, leaving the door open for him to exit.
"Well this is a shitty party invitation if I've ever seen one." Colby mused to himself.
He walked out of the room with caution as he observed his surroundings. He appeared to be in a house, a fairly expensive one at best. Well-dressed strangers mingled among them selves as Colby made his way through the crowd, sticking out in his casual outfit of jeans and an old white t-shirt he'd had for years. As he passed by each person, a head would turn, giving him a disapproving look. It wasn't until he'd reached a balcony that he'd realized why he had been brought here.
The stone-walled balcony overlooked a rather beautiful lawn where more party goers had gathered. A prestigious violin player, preformed just across the way, creating a suspiciously calm environment. Colby looked down at the crowd, only to find a beautiful Rebecca Quin dancing with a tall and handsome man. Colby felt the world stop around him as he admired the stunning red dress that Rebecca was wearing. She wore her hair down, curled perfectly along her lower back. He watched her so carefully that for a moment the world stopped. All he saw was her.
Rebecca herself was trying her best to fake a smile as she danced with Drew.
"You know that stunt you pulled the other day was pointless." He said over her shoulder. " Your father and I have an agreement, you have no say in that matter."
She tried her best to bite her tongue as she felt tears wanting to fill her eyes. Luckily, before that could happen her eyes wandered upward towards the balcony. She was confused by his presence but grateful he was there none the less.
As their eyes met, there was a language spoken only between the two of them. It was an understanding of sorts.
"Ah fuck." Colby muttered to himself when realized what Rebecca was about to do.
He quickly scanned the lawn and saw two well built men in suits keeping a close eye on Rebecca and Drew.
"Hey Drew?" Rebecca asked rather sincerely as she looked up at him.
He looked down at her, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.
Colby took a deep breath and jumped over the railing off the balcony. Right on que, Rebecca fiercely headed butted Drew as Colby rolled tumbled onto the lawn.
"Go fuck yourself." Rebecca told Drew as she now threw her best right hook.
Colby immediately walked up behind Drew's two security men. As Becky threw her best right hook to Drew's jaw, Colby casually pulled a steel pipe out from behind his back and hit on of the men over the head, instantly knocking him unconscious. The second man began to aim his gun at Colby but before he could, Colby had some how already managed to take it out of his hands and put him in a choke hold.
Rebecca watched Drew rather carefully as he checked his mouth for blood. There was a notable size difference between her and Drew. Colby continued choking out Drew's security man, hoping to leave him unconscious, but alive.
"That was a big mistake, Becks." Drew said as began to reach for his gun.
Without thinking, Colby instinctively snapped Drew's security man's neck.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Colby said as he walked up behind Drew, holding the gun he had retrieved to Drew's head.
Rebecca let out a rather sinister grin as Drew let a sigh of frustration.
"Drop it." Colby told him.
Drew didn't have a choice. His face turned red in humiliation as he tossed his gun to the ground. Colby kicked the gun over to Rebecca as Drew put his hand up in his surrender. The music playing throughout the party had finally stopped and a crowd has gathered around the altercation. A few of Drew's other security guys held their position, knowing they were out numbered by Brian Quin's men.
It was then that a sudden, single applause began from a distance. As the applause made it's way closer, Rebecca's father revealed himself from the crowd. Rebecca and Colby shared a rather confusing look as they kept their guns pointed at Drew. Brian Quin approached with a rather satisfying smile.
"Well, well, well." Brain began to say as he looked Colby up and down. "It looks like I just found my new right hand man."
