Snotlout the Regretful : PART 1
Snotlout paced his empty hut for hours as he thought about Hiccup. He went over the day again and again until it played on an automatic loop. Every time he thought about it, he came up with new things he could have done, new ways he could have changed the outcome, new ways he could have prevented Hiccup's death. But every time he did, he was reminded of the painful truth, his cousin was dead. His cousin was never coming back. And it was his fault.
Snotlout knew that he wasn't the brightest viking, but he was smart enough to know that he was the reason for Hiccup being taken. If he hadn't been so jealous and just shown some kindness to his cousin, then maybe he would still be here. "Odin, forgive me, please," Snotlout whispered. He wasn't one to beg for forgiveness, but he figured that this was the one time he should.
The door to his house opened with a loud thud as wood crashed into wood, causing Snotlout to jump in surprise. He quickly turned his head to look at the doorway and exhaled in relief when he saw that it was just Fishlegs.
"Oh my gosh! Snotlout, I heard what happened and I... well I thought I should come see you- but then I thought you would be mad if I did and then I decided that I should still come to see how you were. But then I thought that you might not want to be bothered... And then I realised that I wouldn't be a good friend if I didn't just pop by and ask you how you are feeling. So? How are you feeling? I mean, with Hiccup gone?" Snotlout blinked. Somehow the nerdy viking in front of him had managed to say everything without taking a breath. The boy watched him expectantly and Snotlout realised that he was supposed to respond. He had been so confused by the younger viking's rambling that he had lost track of what had been said. "Uh, I'm good," he said, hoping that, that was what the boy had asked.
"Good?" Fishlegs's eyebrows furrowed and the ends of his lips tugged downwards. Snotlout's eyes widened when he registered what he had said. "Well, you know, as good as anyone can be, given the circumstances..." He added. Fishlegs appeared to understand this as his confusion quickly dissipated, morphing into a look of sincere sympathy.
"What up, losers!" Shouted a masculine and yet strangely feminine voice. Ruffnut slung an arm around Fishlegs and grinned at the boys. Tuffnut appeared behind Snotlout and mimicked his sister. "So," he drawled. "How'd you do it?" he asked, his blue eyes shining with excitement. "W-what?" Snotlout asked, completely perplexed by the Twin's question.
"How'd you get the dragons to kill Hiccup?"
