Unwelcome Change
Sienna
"I told you!" Lissa pouted. "It's already dark! Ech! And now the bugs are out! Noisy, disgusting bugs that buzz around you and crawl all over you and bite you when- ACH! Won goph in mah mouph! Blech! Ptooey!"
I giggled.
"Aw come on now, Lissa." Chrom said. "Hardship builds character. Want to help me gather firewood?"
"I think I swallowed it! I'll pass on finding firewood, thanks. I've built QUITE enough character for one day!"
Then my stomach growled pretty loudly.
"We should think about food." I said. "I don't know about you, but I'm starving!"
"Yes, I should think hunting and gathering is in order." Frederick said "Now, who wants to clear a campsite?"
Not long after, we were gathered around a campfire eating.
"Yum... it's been too long since I last had bear meat! Delicious!" Chrom said.
Wait, that's what we're eating?!
"Pass!" Lissa grumbled. "Gods, couldn't you spear us an animal normal people eat for once? I mean, come on! Who eats bear?! You're meddling with the food chain! Right, Sienna?" Lissa turned to me but I didn't reply because I was busy scarfing down the bear meat. I suppose I didn't want to starve myself. "Uh, Sienna? ... I suppose a person would enjoy about anything after not eating for days."
"Just eat it, Lissa." Chrom said. "Meat is meat."
"Since when does meat smell like old boots?! Wait I take that back- boots smell better!"
"Every experience makes us stronger, milady." Frederick said. "Even those we don't enjoy."
"Really?!" Lissa pouted. "Then why don't I see YOU eating, Frederick?"
"Me? Oh well, I'm not hungry. I-I had a large lunch! Yes, quite."
Well, that's clearly a lie. Frederick is SMILING.
"Yeah right, Frederick!"

Chrom
I couldn't sleep. Something didn't feel right. And I was lucky the feeling wasn't coming from Sienna. Why doesn't Frederick trust her? Sienna was curled up on her side sleeping soundly. It looked kind of cute... Wait, WHAT?!
"What's wrong, Big Brother?" Lissa yawned.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." I said frantically, "but something is amiss."
"Define 'something'."
"I'm not sure... I think I'll have a look around."
"Not alone you won't! I'm coming too."
"Heh. Thanks, Lissa."
We walked for a while. Not many birds were in sight and Lissa took note of it.
"It sure is dark." She said. "And quiet. Where did all the birds go?"
"Something is wrong here..."
I noticed.
Then, the ground shook.
"Aahh! Chrom!" Lissa shrieked.
"Gods, what- Agh! What is this madness? Lissa, stay close!"
Suddenly, without warning, the ground opened up.
"Lissa, run!" I ordered. She just stood there. "I mean it! Go!"
She took off running. Trees were getting swallowed into the ground.
"This way!" I called. We ran for a bit more, and then fell down off a small cliff.
Then, it ended.
"Chrom, what is that?!" Lissa panicked. I looked up at the thing she was talking about. It was a giant eye like object floating in the sky. When it opened, it spat out two of these weird creatures. When they landed on the ground, they started slowly charging towards us.
"Lissa, you better stand back." I said.
It was at that moment when one of them started charging towards me. With Falchion out, I slashed at the creature. It didn't make a dent in the creature. Its head turned around. I took a couple more hits at it and stabbed Falchion into it. The creature dissolved into smoke.
At that moment, Lissa shrieked. She was in trouble. I ran towards Lissa and that's when the floating eye spat out a masked soldier. He ran towards Lissa and blocked the attack on her. In awe, I watched as he held up the attack.
"Help!" He shouted.
"Right." I said.
We finished off the creature and he dissolved into smoke like the one that came with him.
"Quite an entrance." I said in awe. "What's your name?" He just glanced at me.

I woke up to the sound of screaming. Chrom and Lissa were looking up at a glowing eyeball. It was spitting out these weird creatures. They looked like zombies. Chrom stabbed one with his sword (I believe he said it was called Falchion) but its head turned all the way around. That's when it occurred to me these creatures were UNDEAD.
Frederick and I joined up with Chrom and Lissa.
"Milord! Milady! Are you hurt?" Frederick asked.
"Frederick! Sienna!" Lissa panicked.
"Are such horrific creatures commonplace in these lands?" I asked.
"They're not from Ylisse," Chrom said. "I promise you that."
"No one is injured then? Thank the gods..." Frederick said.
"Thank the masked man who saved me!" Lissa said. "If it weren't for him, I'd be... hm where did he go?"
"After we put these... things... to the blade. Eyes open now. We know nothing about this enemy."
"Right." Chrom said.
As we fought off the undead, we found abandoned forts and we gave the undead creatures a name.
Things were starting to go downhill when we were joined by a girl. She had short red hair in a bob.
"Captain Chrom! Wait! I'm coming!" She said. "Agh I knew I shouldn'ta left em. Alright you, ash-faced freaks! Which one of ya wants to try my lance on for size first? I know just the spot for it: shoved right up your-"
"Hold, milady!" Another man said.
"Muh?"
"Leave war to the warriors, dear bird! A beauty such as you need wage only love."
I tuned out the rest of the conversation. Their "romance" got weird fast. The girl's name was Sully and she was in the shepherds too. The man was named Virion and he was the ruler of a place called "Rosanne" in a place called "Valm". We picked off the undead creatures and defeated them all.
"It seems all the creatures are vanquished." Frederick said. "This young man took care of the others." The soldier from before appeared.
"Um, I never got to thank you... for before." Lissa said to the soldier. "So... thank you. You were very brave."
"You saved my sisters life." Chrom said. "My name is Chrom. Might I ask yours?"
"You may call me Marth." The soldier, Marth, said.
"Marth? As in the hero king of old? You certainly fight like a hero. Where did you learn your way with a sword?"
"I'm not here to talk about me. This world teeters at the brink of a horrible calamity. What you saw tonight was but a prelude. You have been warned."
"What's teetering where now?" Lissa asked. "Hey, wait!"
"Not much of conversation, is he?" I said.
"It appears his skills lie elsewhere." Frederick said. "I wager we'll hear his name again... But for now I'm more concerned about the capital. We should make haste."
