CHAPTER 18: SAY SOMETHING COOL- * FALLS FLAT ON FACE *
A/N: Hey guys! This is more or less a filler chapter, but, hope you enjoy!
Nico could not believe he agreed to do it.
But whatever said and done, he had to admit, it was a good idea.
No one would question it now when they were together, or hidden away in some corner, or if they had to just... vanish during school time.
It was a good idea.
Nico hated it when Mary Sunshine had good ideas.
Currently, they were in the cafeteria, having lunch. Will had given Nico a crash course on 'how-to-look-like-you-are-dating-when-you-are-not" because they're first few tries to look like a couple had gone down the drain.
It didn't make Nico feel less awkward though.
Will, on the other hand, was a natural when it came to lovey-dovey stuff. So Nico just let him take the lead.
They sat next to each other, closer than normal, their shoulders touching. Cecil and Lou Ellen, Will's friends, had been over the moon at the news of Will dating.
"Thank god!" Cecil said, "I was getting tired of his ranting." Then he mimicked a high pitched voice, clearly impersonating Will, "oh he's so beautiful! I mean, did you see his hair? His eyes are so mysterious! The cheekbones! Oh and not to mention, that jawline-"
He was interrupted rather rudely by an empty juice box hitting his square on the nose, "hey! That was rude! Every person has a right to speak their mind!"
Will huffed, looking as red the half eaten strawberry on his tray, and crossed his arms, completely ignoring Cecil's last comment, "okay, one, I do NOT sound like that and two, I NEVER said ANYTHING of that sort."
"Sure Will, whatever helps you sleep at night," Cecil winked.
Will threw his head back with a groan, while Nico looked at him inquisitively.
"You seriously said that?" he asked, he was genuinely curious.
"No..." Will looked away with a huff, extracting a small, involuntary smile from Nico.
Nico's thoughts were swirling. Will had always openly flirted with him since his first day of school, but Nico never actually thought he would actually like him.
Like... LIKE like him.
But turns out, maybe he did...
Nico didn't really know what to do with the information. What Will saw in himself, Nico had no clue, but another, much pressing question twisted and turned in his mind.
Did HE like Will?
Honestly, it was... complicated.
Don't get him wrong. Will was a really nice guy, and now that Nico looked at him, he WAS really cute.
Of course, they had made up, but they had still spent a long time fighting each other as Sunshot and Ghost king, so... Nico didn't exactly... completely trust him yet.
He trusted Will enough to let him help with Hazel. Don't ask him why, because he didn't know what made him spill the beans to Will.
But to start a real relationship with him...
He trusted Will as a friend/business associate now, but as a partner? A boyfriend?
Nico was still getting there.
And... don't tell anyone, but honestly, he would LIKE to get there one day.
(A/N: Tell that to everyone- * Nico appears and bashes my head*)
Lou Ellen spoke, smirking, dragging Nico out of his thoughts, "Nico, now you're breaking so many hearts, getting together with Will."
"What?"
Lou let out a chuckle, "don't tell me you haven't noticed all the looks you've been getting from like... all the girls?"
"Huh?"
"The stares? The giggling and whispering when you pass by?"
Nico blinked at her blankly, he did not understand what Lou Ellen was implying.
She sighed, "My god! Will was right. You're hopelessly oblivious."
Nico raised an eyebrow at her.
She groaned, and ignoring Will and Cecil's amused chuckles, said, "Fine, let me dumb it down for you."
Nico gestured with his hand, "Go on."
"Everyone here finds you hot."
Nico stared at her, then sputtered, "what?"
"Go home and look at yourself in the mirror, will you?" Lou deadpanned.
Nico honestly could not get people. So it turns out, a lot of people liked him, found him 'hot'. What did they see in him? Him, the pale, goth kid who doesn't like socializing?
People were weird.
Period.
**************
Will gazed longingly at Nico as they strode down the hallway, hand in hand, towards the exit.
They were gonna walk home together!
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Nico obviously felt the stare on him, his eyes flitted to the side, meeting Will's adoring gaze for a fraction of a second before darting back to the front. A cute flush of pink dusted his cheekbones, standing out even more prominently because of his pale skin.
Will was dating this angle!
Well... fake dating but...
Will was determined to make it real.
Will was certain he liked Nico now. They may have had their differences in the past as vigilantes, but things have changed. He knew Nico's side of the story. Nico was a hero. Nico had never harmed Will, even when he was throwing punch after punch at the said boy. He had never harmed anyone. On the contrary, he had saved Will's life quite a few times now.
Nico cared about others, he loved his family, his friends. Just how hard he strove to get his sister back was proof. He just didn't show his care and love outright. He always put on a dark, mysterious façade, but in truth? He was a huge softie.
And not to mention... Nico looked like an angel fallen out of heaven...
So how could Will NOT fall for him?
Will had fallen, and he had fallen hard.
"Are you okay?" Nico's silky voice dragged him out of his musings.
"Hm?" he asked, may or may not sound slightly dope.
"You seemed... distracted... are you okay?" Nico's expression was monotone, but his dark eyes were concerned.
Concerned for Will.
Nico was concerned about him!
Will flashed him a slightly giddy smile, "Yep! I'm fine!"
Nico narrowed his eyes-
Oh, his eyelashes were so long! How in the gods' name-
WILLIAM!
Right right, sorry.
"Solace?"
"Yeah?"
"You sure you're okay?"
Will gave him an over-eager nod, "Yeah! Yeah, I'm cool! Just thinking."
Nico hmmed, "about what?"
Will turned his head fully, glancing down to look at their clasped hands, the pale white contrasting vividly, so perfectly with the golden tan. His gaze then lifted to meet Nico's.
Will was about to respond.
C'mon, Will! Say something cool!
But right then, he tripped.
The pavement came zooming up to meet his face, but strong, slender arms caught him, gently placing him back on his feet.
"Pay more attention when you're walking, Solace."

A/N: Okay so, this was more of a filler chapter...
Guyzzzz I'm having a teeny tiny writers' block. HELP! I would appreciate it if you guys voice any ideas or scenes you'd like to see in this fic! I can't promise I'll use the ideas but they might help me get some inspiration.
I hate writers' block. Ugh.
