Ten

Finding Osaka wasn't too difficult, especially once I got my vision working properly again. I walked down the hallways for less than a minute and I saw where I assumed Osaka was. I was in a relatively empty hallway and saw a room with guards posted around it. The way I knew these were Osaka's forces were because they tried so hard not to be seen. Two were having a conversation by the water fountain in front of the room, another three by the vending machines not too far off. I casually went over as if I was checking the hospital directory on the wall, but I already noticed all five of the guards had glanced at me several times. I sighed and stuck my hands in my pockets. I did not have time for another fight. It was getting later in the day and Delilah had ordered me back come nightfall for a mission report. I decided to try and casually walk towards the room Osaka was in. What was the worse that could happen?

However, before I could carry out my well planned strategy, gunshots were heard coming from the stairway. It sounded as if shots were being fired and somebody was returning the favor. This confused everyone in the hallway, including myself, and the 5 guards ran quickly towards the stairs with their hands on their weapons. I blinked and was going to follow them, but quickly decided my time was better off accepting this gift and going directly to Osaka. I did a quick scan of the stairway using my X-ray vision, but even that did not help cure my confusion. It appeared as if several people were firing at... Nothing. Then Osaka's guard fired at those people and also at the nothing. I blinked and shifted my vision to normal and decided to worry about that after a few moments.

I forced opened the locked door to her room and went inside. I was quite surprised at what I saw. There was an elderly man laying on the hospital bed, hooked up to several machines. He was unconscious and my internal readings of the man made me believe that he was in a coma. I quickly scanned the man to see the extent of his injuries.

Internal bleeding, severe lacerations, concussion

I raised an eyebrow. The man was not here due to his old age, he was attacked. I stepped in closer to meet Osaka face to face. I saw her standing off to the side, talking with a doctor before glaring over at me. She was dressed in a semi professional manner and wore several pieces of expensive jade jewelry and dark sunglasses. Her trench coat was the color of her dark hair and she had a serious, but calm, facial expression.

"What in the world is going on out there?" The doctor asked astounded at the earlier sound of gunshots echoing down the hall.

"I don't know who you are, but you can't be in here without permission. I need to call security." The doctor said with a false sense of authority and went to leave. Osaka stopped him from moving and waved off his complaints with her hand.

"It is fine, doctor. Eve Primera, I warned you what would happen if you kept following me, did I not?" She said calmly while looking at the man in the bed.
"If you had given me enough time, I would have found and destroyed you anyway. You have saved me time. However, I do not wish to have our fight here, not in front of my father." She said and gestured at the man in the hospital bed.

"I don't know many people who wish to fight me at any time, whether or not they are visiting the sick in a hospital." I replied.
"As long as you give me the information I need, then I don't see any need for us to fight at all."

"I will not tell you where Yokozuna is, I am sworn to secrecy, as it were." She replied, keeping her gaze on her father.

"I have been ordered to retrieve this information. Luckily for you, I wish to avoid further combat at the moment, so I would greatly appreciate it if you'd break your oath just this once." Diplomacy was beginning to bore me. I did not wish to fight, but at this rate I would learn to adapt.

"No, I am afraid I cannot, nor do I want to." She replied.

"You are willing to fight for an oath to a criminal? The outcome will be the same as it was with your impostor nurse who tried to stop me from finding you. She was resistant as well, but failed." I said and paced around the room. I noticed the doctor was nervous and relocated himself from between Osaka and myself. I was slightly impressed by his intelligence to do so.

"I am not quite sure what you mean, Primera. Though, you should know your threats and tactics will not persuade nor effect me." She replied, a slightly questioned look appearing on her face for a moment. She recovered and slide her hands inside her coat, presumably on her weapons.

"The nurse in the lobby who obviously knew you were here. She did her job quite well, I did not notice her trap at first. Besides that, she was quite a capable fighter, but unless you are many times stronger you will do no better." I responded. I kept calm and tried to convey my authority over the situation, she would give me the information I needed one way or another.

"What are you talking about? Yes, I admit that I had many guards posted, most likely killed by you based off the sounds of gunshots. Why would I have spies posing as staff in the hospital? I actually do need my father taken care of." she sighed and loss some of her composure. I stared intently at her for a few moments and determined her confusion was genuine. She actually did not know who I was talking about.

"She tried to stop me from finding you, she did not want me to harm you. If she was not working under your orders than who did she work for?" I questioned, my mind working as fast as it could to process this information. While analyzing the data, I realized that I had not been paying attention to everything around me. The doctor stayed off to the side, appearing genuinely confused and afraid, so I did not label him as a threat. My concern now was the sensory information I was not receiving. Besides the humming of the equipment in this room and our own voices, it was very quite around us. For the moment, there were no more gunshots.

"Actually, I work under my own orders." I heard a female voice say from behind me. Without turning around I realized this voice belonged to the woman I had thought I killed just a few minutes ago.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" Osaka asked, the anger in her voice attempting to hide her confusion. She quickly pulled out twin pistols from her coat and surprisingly not aiming one at me, but both at the stranger.

"Yes, I'd like to know who you are as well, especially considering I just kicked your ass and left you for dead in the stairwell." I said and faced the woman. She had found time to put her hair in a ponytail and looked quite well for someone who should have been dead.

"Oh, sure. I'll tell you my name, but just hold on one minute, Eve." she said and my processors warned me of what was about to happen just in time.

She quickly pulled out a gun she was hiding behind herself and opened fire. My mind slowed everything down for a moment and I had to make a decision fast. I blocked the bullet's path to Osaka, though I wasn't entirely sure why I did it. Something in me decided it was the correct course of action. The woman shot several times and hit the doctor and Osaka's father.

"Father!" Osaka yelled and returned fire to our attacker. She hit the woman several times and sent her stumbling back, but my analysis told me no real damage was done. I also quickly learned something even more surprising and alerting. Nothing besides my standard vision registered the woman before me. It was as if she wasn't there at all if I attempted to use my other sights.

"What are you?" I asked, still trying to cover Osaka from the bullets.

"She is a demon!" Osaka yelled and ran out in front of me. She threw a knife and it hit the other woman and stabbed into her stomach. Even though her shots hit their target several more times, it only took one from her opponent to put her down. Osaka yelled out and I saw her get hit in the chest and slump to the ground. She fell over and the other woman stepped around her and walked past me and stared out the hospital windows. She smashed them opened and looked down to the street.

"Stop, I can't let you leave after what you just did. You compromised my mission." I ordered and put a hand on her shoulder to hold her back.

"Please, I needed to be the one to kill Osaka and her father. It was my mission." She replied and smacked my hand away. That gesture aggravated me to no end.

"Before I go, I owe you at least one piece of information don't I?" she added. She then suddenly shot me in the face and I was sent falling back. I was beginning to really hate her, none of my sensors were working around her and she kept beating me to the punch.

"My name is Evelyn, and you can consider yourself obsolete." she said and jumped out of the window. By the time I recovered and ran to look for her, she was gone.
