Nine

I knew it was only a matter of time before Osaka would switch locations, so I moved on as quickly as I could. I left the two guards unconscious after they continued cursing at me rapidly and I commandeered both of there firearms and one of their rather unique looking daggers. I liked to believe that to the victor goes the spoils, especially since I was most often the victor. I expertly punched them in pressure points and moved on to my goal. I concentrated on the phone signal I hacked into and and jumped to the next rooftop. Even though the signal was quickly disappearing, I still realized that interrogating Osaka might be a little more difficult than I first thought. Unless she was attempting to throw my scanners off or my signals were screwing up again, Osaka Ibushi was located in the county's biggest hospital.

I knew she herself was not injured, so either she was visiting the sick or hiding there so I can't open fire on her. My pessimism made me choose the second of the two. A third option was she was there to finish a job she started, but that was far less likely. Well, compared to the first two. I made my way to the hospital and within a few moments saw the tall white building standing across the street from me. Many cars filled the parking lot and I slowly made my way down and across the street.

Throughout my years of work, I had learned quite well how to sneak into a place and be noticed as little as possible. My best techniques were to always keep moving, look like you belong wherever you are, and never let a security camera see your face for more than a second. I moved quickly throughout the hospital, without appearing as if I was in a hurry of course, and went to find Osaka. I leaned against the wall and pretended to fix my jacket, but in reality I was looking through several floors of the hospital at once to try and find Osaka.

Oddly enough, she seemed to be in the emergency section of the hospital. There was one female standing in a room with a male on the hospital bed, several females standing guard by the door and windows. I blinked several times and my sight returned to normal. What I saw confused me, but I did not have time for this. She needed to tell me where Yokozuna was soon, I didn't want to make a scene in a public place. I was not ordered to save innocents, but I wasn't ordered to kill them either. I usually let them be as long as they left me alone. However, some innocents always ended up finding a way to bother me.

"Excuse me, m'am." A nurse said as I made my way towards the Emergency ward.
"Are you looking for a doctor or visiting a patient, maybe?" She asked. Immediately my brain started determining things about this woman.

I quickly deduced that even though she tried to seem friendly, it was all an act for her job. I know she was judging me as I judged her, though not nearly as quickly. She was about my age, maybe slightly older, and had dark hair and eyes and looked like she had been awake for quite some time. Further analysis led me to believe she thought I was a lost drug addict who either needed help or needed to be arrested and was trying to keep her job for her child, or more likely, her children.

"Um, yes please, actually." I said in my best impression of a normal teenage girl.
"My friend's relative is here in the emergency room and I just need to get there as fast as I can." I pleaded. My insides began to stir, I did not like acting like this. I figured if I could play nice maybe I could get to Osaka and retrieve my information without too much trouble.

"Oh, sure honey. What's the patient's name?" The nurse asked as she looked at her list on a clipboard.

Crap, I thought to myself. I did not know who Osaka might have been visiting, but my mind raced rapidly for an answer.

"Oh, well he is being visited by the Ibushi family, my friend forgot to mention the name when she texted me." I chuckled innocently at my imaginary friend's mistake. I knew Osaka would not be using a fake name, she was too honorable and way too arrogant to do so.

"Ah, I believe I know who you mean, right this way." The woman said with a smile after a second's hesitation. I noticed the pause and I also noticed she did not look at the clipboard long enough to find the name. That seemed to be two strikes against the woman right there.

The woman lead me down hallways full of doctors and patients and we eventually made it towards a section that said "Emergency Ward" along the top of the wall. The nurse paused for a second and then turned and opened the door to a stairwell.

"Some of our patients had to be moved to the next floor, right this way." She said and lead me up the stairs. Alone in an isolated area where a fall would look like an accident, this was definitely strike three. I did not believe my kind could get paranoia, and since I was unique nobody could tell me differently.

"You sure this is the way? It seems like a long trip for extremely sick people." I said, trying to keep up my ruse.

"Oh, yes. This way." she replied and lead me to a closed door by the top of the stairs. We were high enough that I could see for blocks out the window. When I was observing the landscape, that is when the nurse quickly spun around and drew a gun and fired point blank at my face.

Her weapon had a very good silencer on it and was above average in power. The kickback from the bullet sent me stumbling back and I smacked into the wall. My sensors were turned up to an eleven and everyting seemed to be a blur. The fake nurse took this moment of confusion to grab my head and strike me with several muay thai kicks and toss me into the window. The thud echoed in the empty stairway and I stood back in a slight daze.

"You think it would be that easy to get to the Ibushi's did you?" She said and charged at me with another kick. She was quite good, her only mistake being that she took a second to speak. My face had already started healing and I began to recalibrate within that second. I grabbed her foot as she kicked me and flipped her hard onto her back. I pinned her down with my own foot but then she spun and tripped me. I stumbled down the stairs but recovered and started moving faster than she was able to keep up with.

This woman was good, there was no question about that. Every time I had a clear advantage she would use her environment to get the better of me. She climbed up and down stairs and jumped off walls to try and strike at me. Luckily, I was much faster and stronger and nearly indestructible, and I was gathering good techniques from her to use in my next fight. She was actually holding her own until she dodged one of my kicks and sent me falling into the door. I hit hard enough to unlock it and force it open just slightly. Even the door was reinforced, how deep did Osaka have her people involved here?

I got up and, yes, I'll admit, I let my emotions cloud my judgment for a moment. I was quite angry and charged at the girl. She tried to punch me and use a fancy kick but I grabbed her and flung her against the far wall near the stairs. My face was almost fully healed and I spat out the bullet that was almost stuck in my cheek because of this woman. I almost was going to let her lay there and just move on to Osaka, but this lady did not know when to quit. She picked up her firearm again and shot several times at me. I focused and caught the bullets and let them fall. I knew what I was doing was dangerous for myself, as my system needed time to heal and constant damage wore me down, but I didn't care at the moment. I took the gun from her and dismantled it in one move.

"Stay down. I don't need to end your life, that would be a waste of years of training and experience. Don't make me-" but she cut me off with an uppercut and I stumbled back. She drew another gun and I reacted purely out of instinct. I took this gun away too and fired it at her stomach before she could blink. The false nurse slumped over and I dumped the weapon in her lap. After I paused to heal up and focus again, I left through the now opened door and silently made my way to Osaka.
