A simple day in Axia Force Town, people playing with the wild pokemon and the few trainers battling to become stronger, my name is Chrome, I am a young child of this small yet peaceful town. Currently I'm getting myself ready for the day.

"I can't wait for mom and dad to show me the surprise today" I said putting on my shirt

My clothing consisted of a small orange shirt, silver sneakers and grey tracksuit pants. My father, Axel and my mother Charlotte promised me a surprise later today after I finish playing with my best friend.

"Honey come down breakfast is ready" A female voice called

"Ok mom I'm coming" I replied heading downstairs

I rushed downstairs and after finishing my breakfast I leave the house to play with the pokemon.

~Forest~

"Hello" I called out

At that moment many pokemon ranging from Tallow and Zigzagoon came out of the bushes and trees of the forest at my sudden call.

"Chrome" A wild Tallow said

"Yay it's Chrome" A Zigzagoon said with joy jumping on me

"Calm down Zigzagoon its good to see you all" I replied

Oh I forgot to mention, I have a special power that not many people have, I can talk with all pokemon. When I first became able to talk to a pokemon my parents told me that I inherited it from them since they too could communicate with the pokemon.

"What do you all want to play today?" I asked

"Chase, chase!" Everyone replied

With that for a couple of hours I played chase with the pokemon of the forest non-stop. Once I got tired I decided to find my best friend. After searching for awhile I found my friend at the one and only battlefield in town. She was around my age with emerald green eyes, short crimson hair with a black ribbon, wearing a Mareep wool sweater with a brown skirt and black casual shoes.

"Hi Rose" I called out

"Hey Chrome, where have you been?" Rose asked

"I was playing with the pokemon" I answered

"You should have seen the last battle, his Hitmonlee was super tough" Rose stated pointing to one of the trainers

Rose admires pokemon battles seeing them as a way to learn about other people and work together with pokemon. I also love pokemon battles and someday wish to challenge the Champion and the Elite Four.

"So did you get your parents surprise yet?" Rose asked

"Not yet, but I can't wait" I replied

"It must be something really great, your parents were strong trainers even getting the chance to fight the Elite Four" Rose exclaimed with glee

"I hope its a pokemon" I stated

"We can't get them until we're 15, thats what our parents told us remember" Rose said

Both our families had told us that we weren't allowed to get our first pokemon until we reach the age of 15 since they wanted us to be fully prepared for when we challenge the gyms. Even though their right I wish I could get my pokemon at the age of 10.

"Hey lets see if we can get your surprise now" Rose suggested

"Good idea lets go" I agreed

We headed over to my home to see if my parents could give me the surprise they promised me now rather then later.

~Home~

I open the door to be greeted by a blond haired women with deep blue eyes, wearing a beautiful white dress, wearing a yellow sunhat, white socks and a flower hair pin. This was my mother Charlotte.

"Why hello Chrome honey, I thought you would still be playing with the pokemon and hello to you too Rose dear" Mom greeted

"Hi Mom" I greeted

"Hello" Rose greeted bowing

"I came home to see if I can get my surprise now" I asked making my hazel eyes sparkle

"Honey, Chrome's home" Mom called out

"Is he now" A male voice said

The source of the voice appeared in the hallway to reveal a man with messy crimson hair with chrome coloured highlights, hazel coloured eyes, a blue jacket with white fur at the collar, brown pants, white socks and wearing a belt with a dog tag hanging off it. This was my father Axel.

"What does my little man want with his little friend here?" Dad asked

"Our little boy wants his surprise" Mom answered

"Hehe I thought he might, follow me you little scamp" Dad said heading upstairs

"Can Rose come too?" I ask

"Of course dear" Mom answered

"Thank you" Rose and I said in unison

We followed my dad upstairs to a room that I recognised to be what my parents call the memory room since it holds all the things from their journey together when they were younger.

"Wow, I've never seen this here before" Rose said amazed

"Impressive collection isn't it? Took me and my wife a looong time to get all this. But it was time well spent" Dad said going thorough some things

After looking through a large amount of items, gadgets and other things my dad found a yellow backpack and brought it over to me.

"What's in here Dad?" I asked

"Just a little something me and your mother picked up over the years. Take a look" Dad answered

After Dad passed over the backpack I zip it open to find a really large amount of disk like objects, even for a bag of its size it seemed to have thousands of them.

"WOW, Chrome those are TM's" Rose screamed like a fangirl

"TM's? What are those?" I asked confused

"They are items that can allow you to teach a pokemon a move that it specifies" Dad explained

"Are there HM's in their too?" Rose asked with a glimmer in her eye

"Any TM or HM you can think of is in that bag, trust me when I say it was hard to find a bag that could fit them all" Dad said jokingly

"Wow, thanks Dad I love it" I said hugging Dad

"No problem son, but thats not the only gift we have for you" Dad stated

"There's more!?" I asked with joy

"For the rest of your present go talk to your mother" Dad explained

"Thanks Dad, lets go Rose" I said hugging Dad again then breaking from the hug to head out of the room

"Let's" Rose replied following

We head downstairs to ask mother for the rest of my gift with Rose following right behind me. As we reach the bottom of the stairs I see Mom sitting in the living room.

"Mom" I call out hugging her

"Did you like Dad's gift Chrome?" Mom asked

"I loved it, what did you get me Mom?" I asked enthusiastically

"Close your eyes dear" Mom asked

"Ok" I complied

I shut my eyes tight like my mother asked me and I could feel her putting something on my wrist, it felt like a loose bracelet.

"You can open your eyes now" Mom stated

I open my eyes to find a black ring that looked slightly too big for my wrist with a stone with a DNA pattern in the middle.

"What is it Mom? It looks pretty" I asked admiring the ring she gave me

"Even I don't know what this is" Rose said staring intensely at the stone

"You'll soon find out what it does, but just know that once you find a strong bond with a pokemon this will help you and your partner to grow" Mom said with her hand on the stone

I couldn't understand what my mother mean't saying it will help me and my pokemon grow but even so I loved my gift from both my parents that care for me greatly.

"Thank you Mom" I thanked embracing my mother

My mother gladly returned my embrace with a gentle caring smile on her face.

"Now you two run along and go play" Mom said patting our heads

"Ok Mom" I replied

"Lets go play with the forest pokemon Chrome" Rose suggested

"Yeah" I replied

With that Rose and I dashed out of the house waving to my parents waiting at the front of the door heading to the forest...what I didn't realise is that a storm was coming to our town, one that will change my life forever.
