I followed Mr Morris across the school, which was every bit as gorgeous as the great hall and stepped into a more modern area. We didn't seemed to walk past any classrooms but I could hear the sound of teaching drifting into the hallways.

We walked into one of rooms and I caught a glimpse of a metal plaque on the door declaring this as the Office of Hamish Morris. Ah, so we are talking in his office, not some lab.

I felt slightly relieved at that thought, so they weren't mad scientists trying to dissect me. And then it occurred to me, they are probably POE as well, otherwise why would they teach POEs here?

Sitting down in front his office table I watched as Mr Morris opened the metal cabinets on the side looking for forms required for me to read (no, I wasn't reading his mind, better be careful, I just knew because he was thinking about it and I caught a wave, it's kind of like his brain was emitting signals and I received some).

He took out a few forms from the cabinets before slamming it close and settling down on the other side of the desk. He shuffled around his desk locating a pen and then turned up to look at me.

'I am Mr Morris, I teach Evolution Science here and I am also the head of admission.' He said to me with a smile. I nodded, still a bit nervous being in a strange environment and he continued. 'So now we have to go through a few forms and you just need to answer my questions.'

Again I nodded and he pulled out one of the forms in front of him. 'So what is your date of birth and where were you born?'

'I was born on 30th June 2299 in District 9 London Hospitals.' I replied, twisting the hem of my shirt , I never liked one-to-one with any teachers, especially not when I am not reading their minds .

'And your parents are?' He asked.

'Richard Beckett and Amelia Beckett.' I replied immediately and he jolted them down in the form. It's not like they wouldn't know, they must have my permanent record somewhere in those cabinet.

'So when did you find out about your power? And to what extent can you use them? It is really important that you tell me the truth, otherwise it can be a danger to you or others in the future.' Mr Morris said, I gulped, that sounded scary, I never heard about that before. Then I remembered what Nigel thought the moment he found out when I discovered my power, he said it has been a long time since a rogue this power had been discovered that had survived this long.

'I found out when I was three, I moved my teddy bear away from my brother, but I didn't really realise what I could do until I was five.' I decided that it was probably best to tell the truth, since I don't know anything about POE at all. Mr Morris kept his face and his mind blank so I couldn't tell what he made of the situation. He must had knew I could read mind and did something to prevent it. Dammit. I guess I had to tell the whole truth now.

'I could read people's mind.' I said, still no signs of any emotion. 'but only what they were thinking. I can also move things with my mind, and create the mind field thing Mr Andrewson was talking about. That's pretty much it.'

'What was the heaviest thing you have lifted.' Mr Morris asked, peering up from the form. I tried to think about it, but couldn't really remember.

'I don't remember, I never tried moving anything heavier than a school bag.' I replied, he nodded before writing down a few more lines.

'Are you aware of any previous POEs in your family?' He asked, I shook my head. My mother had three brothers but only two of them had children who are all younger than me and were in the same school. My father had a sister whose son was in my year and we never got on well. As far as I could tell no one in my family is a POE.

I suppose now they know who my parents are they could just found out. Why ask me?

The questions went on for another hour or two and I was half asleep by the end of it and answering the questions automatically.

'Alright.' Mr Morris said, piling up the forms. I heard footsteps outside the offices and a knock sounded on the the door.

'Come in.' Mr Morris shouted and a pretty Asian girl came into the room. Her brown eyes widened in surprise when she saw me sitting there but she recovered very quickly and said Hello to Mr Morris.

I let my mind opened and straight away I could hear the girl's thoughts. OMG! A new student! I wonder what her power is! This is so exciting.

I smiled at her as I listen to her thoughts. At least not everyone around here was a bullying psychopath. The Asian girl gave me a small smile in return, I could hear her thoughts screaming out the guys are going to go crazy when they see the new girl!

Oh wow, I am flatter by this.

'Oh hi Miss Chen, before you tell me why you are here can you take Miss Beckett down to the healer's please.' Mr Morris said and the girl nodded.

'Miss Beckett, please don't wonder off on your own.' Mr Morris added as I left the room following the girl.

I gave him a backward nods. That thought actually haven't crossed my mind at all. I kind of wanted to do it now because he said it, but I didn't want to get this girl into trouble.

I followed her in silence down the corridor, wondering how to strike up a conversation. It had never been too hard for me to talk to other people because of my mind-reading ability. If it wasn't for that I would probably be a bit shy to start a conversation with a random stranger.

I could hear her nervous thoughts as well, she was searching for something cool to say so she wouldn't leave a bad impression for the new girl. I decided that it would be wise to break the silence before it get even more awkward than it already was.

'Hi, I am Abigail.' I said, sounding way more confident than I felt. The girl smiled at me, she was glad that I spoke first.

'Hi, I am Natalie, welcome to POE Academy.' She said, and I could hear her thoughts right afterward. Why did I said that? She probably wasn't happy to come here at all! Most of us weren't!.

It was hard to suppress the smile tugging at the corner of my lips. She looked pretty calm for what she was thinking inside. And that's sweet of her to be concerned about how I feel.

'Thank you, I was afraid students here aren't going to be friendly.' I said truthfully, also wanted to dig more dirt about the bullying issue going on around here, because Natalie here seem pretty nice. No comments to Tom.

Uh-oh, how do I answer this without scaring her. Natalie hesitated before speaking, but not before I got some more memories off her. And this time I actually got a face. It was a boy, dirty blond hair and blue eyes, laughing almost manic-like while creating an ice wall trapping another boy a cave. There were other students looking at him disapprovingly but none of them seemed to do anything about it but move on.

'No, people here are friendly, we POEs stick together.' Alice said, but mentally adding a silence sentence. Just not Fred Bowen and his gang.

Hm....looks like Fred Bowen is a real bad boy. Better stay cleared of him.

We made small chat as we walked across several corridors and climb down some staircase, reaching the ground level.

'Here it is, I hope you have a nice day.' Natalie said, stopping in front of a wooden door. Hope her power is something useful, otherwise Fred might pick on her.

God, this Fred guy is seriously getting on my nerves.

Natalie left rather quickly and I knocked on the door. I guess she was hurrying back to Mr Morris to ask him whatever it was that she wanted to when she got unceremoniously appointed as my tour guide.

A young man opened the door and light poured out from the room. I blinked a few times to let my eyes adjust to the brightness.

'Abigail Beckett?' He asked, I automatically nodded and he ushered me into the room. The room consist of a hospital bed in a corner semi-blocked by a wooden screen, a doctor desk with a chair behind it and three chair in front of it. They even had a dental chair next to it surrounded by curtains.

'Yes, I was expecting you, have a seat on the bed.' he said turning around to face me. I could finally see his face properly now. He was probably in his early twenties and looked like he belonged in an outdoor area than here.

'I am Mr Oscar, the healer in the Academy.' He said, I walked over and sat myself down on the bed. Mr Oscar picked up a clipboard on the side and walked towards me.

'Have you got any form of illness? Known genetic mutations? Or any family history?' He asked, I shook my head. The doctors declared me a normal healthy baby, boy were they wrong.

'Okay, so your power is like a telepath.' Mr Oscar squinted at the clipboard and looked up at me in surprise. I managed to catch a glimpse of his thought. Holy shit, she must be pretty....

Pretty what? Argh, so he didn't know I could read his mind before that. I should have peeked at his mind! Too late now.

His face recovered quickly and he went off to the side of the room to get something leaving me fuming at myself fr not reading his mind earlier. I could probably got a ton of information from him!

'Physical examination first.' Mr Oscar said, taking me into the next room where they made me run on a treadmill for half an hour. We were made to take physical education in order to keep fit so that we will be capable to run away when required. This was put it because many civilians died indirectly after an Legre attacks because they wasn't fit enough to run far enough and survive in the wild when their villages where destroyed.

I was put on various fitness machines, attached to numerous wires and even put under a sort of scanning tube. It was all very lab-rat like, I had to keep telling myself that this is just a medical examination. Nothing more. Not that my body took any notice of that. I was pretty sure my heart rate were way above average all the way through.

I was taken back to the medical center room afterward where I felt more at ease. Two hours in there was bad enough and I didn't want to go back there ever again. Mr Oscar was waiting for me with a trolley stacked with things. I looked up at it curiously and he chuckled.

'Now with the power examination. Can you try lifting the book for me?' Mr Oscar asked, pointing to a small pocket-size dictionary, I nodded and concentrated on the book. When you want to move something with your mind it feels like there is a tug at your brain, I don't know how to describe it to you, but it's kind of like moving your fingers, you don't picture doing it, you just do it.

Lifting the book was easy, I made it raise a meter or so up in the air and send it zooming around Mr Oscar.

'Alright, I guess we should move into heavier things.' Mr Oscar said, I could see that he was impressed by me.

He continued to try my mental strength (haha, you know what I mean. Not that kind) getting me to lift different objects and to do different things with them.

I aced my way through the heaviest books, which was a hard-back-500-pages textbook and moved on to objects in the room. I could send a chair flying around but not quite as easily as the other ones. I could also life the bed up with me on it for about five seconds. Mr Oscar nodded at me to put it down and wrote on the clipboard. I wished I knew what he was writing there.

Feeling mentally drained and a tad homesick, I rubbed my face in my hands to see if I can revived myself a bit. I felt something cool on my forehead and jolted upright to see Mr Oscar holding a can of Coca Cola right next to my face.

'Have this, it will makes you feel better.' He said, handing me the Coca Cola with a rueful smile. I returned his smile and took a grateful sip.

'Take a rest for ten minutes, then we need to run some physical examination tests.' Mr Oscar said and walked out of a side door. I took another sip of the coke and watched my feet dangling in front of me. My eyes were beginning to flutter shit out of its own record, after the physical and mental examination I was exhausted.

I must had fallen asleep for a few seconds because the next thing I know Mr Oscar was back and half-way through a sentence.

'...pick you up back to the headmaster's office.' He finished and I gave him a quick smile, probably too quick because he gave me a knowing look.

'Try not to fall asleep when Mr Andrewson talked to you, it's important information.' He said, then stuck his head out to the corridor and called out to a passing student.

They certainly had a weird way to get me around. Hearing footsteps I hopped off the bed and walked over to the door, waiting for my next tour guide to appear.

'Tom, can you take Miss Beckett here to the headmaster's office please?' I heard Mr Oscar asked, and my heart gave a flip. Surely it can't be the french guy from this morning, I mean, Tom is a pretty common name....

'Sure.' a french-accented voice replied and I moved into view to see Tom Triole from this morning standing right outside the door with his hands in his trousers pocket and a bored look on his face. That was until he saw me.
