Chapter Eleven
The demon had kept both of them out until the early morning. The sun was just beginning to rise when they had arrived back at his apartment. Ghost felt himself regain control of his actions, and did his best to keep his breathing controlled.
He quietly slipped inside the apartment, getting fresh clothes and heading to the bathroom to replace his blood stained ones, and shower.
In the shower, Ghost scrubbed furiously at his skin. He wanted to wash away all he had seen that night, all he had learned. He wanted to wash away his worries, to wash away the cause of all of this that was happening to him. He wished so desperately that this demon would just wash right out of his skin, would be mixed in with all the blood that went down the drain, wished so much that it would just disappear. He knew that wouldn't happen, but oh, did he wish.
After a while of this, when he had finally given it up and gotten out, the blood on his skin long since washed away, he got out of the shower, and stared blankly at himself. He looked in the mirror, not sure what or who was looking back at him.
A monster. The thought crossed his mind. I am a monster.
A knock on the bathroom door snapped him out of his thoughts. He quickly tugged on his clothes, opening the door and looking out to find Toast standing there. He looked almost as tired as Ghost felt.
"Where.." Toast started quietly, voice breaking. "Where have you been all night? I was worried." He spoke, staring into Ghost's eyes, where Ghost could find all different emotions hiding. Mostly fear.
"I.." Ghost paused. He didn't know how to answer. He had already decided that he had to keep this all a secret, already knew he couldn't tell him what had really happened. "I'm sorry, Johnny." He mumbled. "I haven't been feeling well lately. I couldn't sleep, so I went on a walk and.. well, I got lost. My phone was dead, so I couldn't find my way back for a while. I finally found someone to direct me home."
Ghost stared at the ground as he awaited his answer. He hated lying, but he hoped he was good enough to convince Toast nothing had happened last night. Toast said nothing for a long time, and Ghost looked up at him. He looked conflicted, but upon noticing Ghost was looking at him gave a hesitant smile.
"Alright.." he spoke quietly still. "I believe you. I'm just glad you're home safely, please don't sneak out like that again. There's too much going on." Toast had wrapped Ghost in a hug, holding him close as Ghost slowly returned it, feeling guilty. "I love you.." Toast muttered.
"I love you too." Ghost whispered back. I'm sorry. He thought.
Drama drama and more drama, yay.
