hi, been a while since i updated this :)))

today, i bring to you an issue that you must be familiar with. it must've been in a book or two you read here.

we are all familiar with love triangles. classic cliché, but that's not the bad part. it's when 2 members of this triangle are already together, and the female lead comes in between to take one.

how does it work? the male lead fell out of love! 😩 now, he loves the new female lead. she fed the stray cats-- so adorable. can't help but love her.

you ask now, why's this an issue?

you know, relationships are such a huge commitment. in these love triangles i'm specifically talking about, the male lead would have dated his original gf for years, or even engaged to her, and i don't understand why it needs to be years of commitment to break. to intensify the tension? no idea. in fact, it makes the story more unrealistic. if you've reached this limit of connection and commitment with someone, how can another girl break it? what's this magical thing she can do to make you realise you've done the wrong choice of being with your significant other all these years?

it baffles me. then he proceeds to say, "you're not like anyone else i have been with before. can't help but cheat with you 🥺"

like??? ofc??? everyone is different??? don't compare??? or explain sensibly why you think so???

let's hypothesise the whole process made sense, and yes, he couldn't help but fall out of love and then in love with the female lead. okay. cool. be happy. issue settled and everything is clear.

but no. his ex needs to turn into a bitchh for some reasons:

1. to victimise the new girlfriend and portray her as the nice and kind girl who did nothing but show him the truth all along. this is extremely disrespectful of the writer, imo. exes aren't necessarily evil ffs. usually, they wish nth but to stay away. give the woman some dignity!

2. to justify the male lead's decision. like omg, you can't blame him for leaving her. she was evil all along and this new girl showed him the truth! wow. now, he doesn't have to feel guilty about it. totally justifiable.

heads up: the guy is a cheater. no excuses 🙄 no matter how much anyone thinks his ex is bad, and it justifies dishonesty, it doesn't work like that. officially break up with her, and that's it. human communication.

and guys, i'm not talking about any kind of evil. the murderous evil 😈

yes, the ex wants to murder the new girlfriend because that's all a woman cares about: her relationships. to bring her ex back and maintain a relationship. no other life issues. no work. no friends. no self-care activities whatsoever. just her guy and her guy only!

i read a book once wherein the male lead impregnated the female lead while he was still in another relationship. his actual gf was angry and hurt, but that was villainised? that made her evil?

then she went ahead and met the pregnant FL. got in a physical fight, the baby died, and so she caused her permanent damage that she can't have kids ever again. so it made her a psycho too!

so, another issue: villainising mental illnesses. apparently, people with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders have murderous tendencies. they're not sick in these stories, they're crazy and dangerous!

another book: the rich, powerful ex kidnapped the new gf and threatened her. girl said i'll inject you with this thing to kill you painfully (which i have no idea how she got. like a super drug even doctors aren't allowed to use casually). please 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

so disappointing. not all the time these books are written by younger people who aren't very knowledgeable. i witnessed them written by adult users on this site. could have a decent, beautiful writing style, but this is all they thought to write about. romanticising disloyalty.

is this the shoerter way to clout? try harder please? ask yourself if this makes sense or would possibly happen irl?

i'm done. honestly so done. can't find many books that are merely readable anymore...
