Ready for the next cliche-est plot out there? The SALVATORE SISTER stories.

So you open up the search section in WP and type Salvatore and the first recommendation comes up... Any guesses?

Yup: Salvatore Sister.

Speaking on facts, a total of 2.5K of such stories turn up when you simply search for Salvatore sister. And obviously you're thinking that, oh come on, that's way less than the Doppelganger ones. True, this is way less but still not all of them turn up when you're searching. A lot of them (thousands) still need some digging up.

Especially the good ones. You need to dig real hard down the quagmire of such fanfictions.

Lets plunge deep into quicksand and discuss the similarities of such plot lines.

Plot Facts:

1. The titles of these type of stories are always highly similar. No, let me rephrase that: always a play on the same basic keywords.

The Salvatore Sister

Sister Salvatore

Damon and Stefan's Sister

The Other Salvatore

Dear Sister

Sister Dearest

The Little Salvatore

Another Salvatore

Any adjective (like forgotten, lost, hidden, witch, wolf, hybrid, hunter etc etc) Salvatore

And that's pretty much it. A very few (extremely rare) stories have titles other than these such as Rekindle, An Everlasting Death, True Love Changes You, My Savior. [I haven't read all of these yet, so just stating as an example].

2. The OC is always female. Well, that's a given, isn't it, saying that we are right now discussing Salvatore Sister stories? Well, this chapter was originally going to be named as Salvatore Sibling. But guess what? I couldn't find a male sibling. So, to Salvatore sister it reverted.

[Like I have said before so many times, dear authors we need male OCs at Wattpad. For the love of writing, do create a male character like Damon and Stefan's brother or something who falls in love with someone other than a Mikaelson or a Gilbert... Vicki Donovan, for instance? IDK just giving a suggestion].

3. And... The Love Interest. OC always falls in love with Klaus Mikaelson or Jeremy Gilbert. Always. It's as if except these two, the male population simply does not exist or rather can't stand a chance to compete for the gorgeous OC's heart.

4. The OC is always a younger sister to the Salvatores. She's this baby sister who was too small to understand all that was going on but still somehow accomplished that Katherine was a manipulative bitch (excuse my language please) and somehow survived the fire in 1864. Besides her brothers believed her to be dead.

5. Or rather, the sister turns out to be Damon's twin who is twice more badass and cocky but still everyone is in love with the oh so agreeable Lady Salvatore. And she is always sought after like a costly designer dress gone on 50% off sale.

6. Elder sisters are simply out of the question.

[Personally, I would like to see a story where the OC is the elder sister of both Damon and Stefan].

7. About 45% or more portion of the story is set in the 1860s.

8. Emily Bennett does not exist. Not even in the 1864 time period. Because, hell no, who wants a witch (plus handmaid) when you can have two gorgeous beauties rivaling for the throne of Miss 1864?

[Another great mistake, or so I like to think].

9. And if somehow, the story starts in the present era instead of 1860s, then we are introduced to the OC as Klaus's wife or Kol's secret girlfriend. How come the Originals would want to establish any connections with the sister of Damon Salvatore, let alone marrying her?

[To be honest, Damon as a brother-in-law would be incessant torture, not recommending it to anyone anytime soon, possibly never].

10. Sometimes, I don't understand the large amount of people portraying Stefan as a cinnamon roll who is the perfect brother, perfect son and perfect caretaker. The fact that Stef is Mummyish itself should be classified as cliche.

Effects on other characters:

1. Elena... It depends on whether the author ships Stelena or Delena. If OC is close to Damon and he is dating Elena then everything is smooth. If OC is close to Stefan and he is dating Elena, then he has to be the part time shrink for both of them to talk out and solve their issues. And if its the vice versa thingy then... Red alert; a whole concept of Team Damon or Team Stefan rising up.

[Besides, I don't think authors ever find any other male to ship Elena with except both the Salvatore brothers. I mean, fun fact, did you know that in the original books of the series, Matt was Elena's first boyfriend and they were quite good together until Stefan stepped in? Not heard of it yet? Go check out the books then].

2. Katherine... Always the baddie. The bitch who hurt the dearest brothers of darling little OC and even though she was 3 or 4 at that time, she still remembers all that Kath has done.

3. Caroline... Same as previous chapters. I really don;t get why people can't make her come out of the stereotypical cheerleader slash mean girl personality.

4. Bonnie... Until or unless it's some sort of spell that needs to get done, we oughta say goodbye because we would probably not see her again.

5. Elijah... Doesn't exist because most of his lines are taken up by OC.

6. Rebekah... Just the gif to justify...

7. Klaus... Bad boy with a heart of gold. Plus an exquisite painter and poet who is this whole new personality with said OC.

8. Damon... Just Damon without a heart. Or in some cases, an emotional nutcase who breaks down every five seconds.

9. Stefan... "Sister (whatever the name is), are you okay? You aren't running a fever? Did you get some lunch? Why are you so silent? Is Damon being a jerk?" blah blah blah.

10. Jeremy... If it's a Jeremy love story, then yeah, he is this super cool vampire hunter who is flaming hot and has never had any failures to drag him down. If not, then he's a wailing crybaby who doesn't have an idea who to go to for help and commits suicide just because the author needed something to happen in the story which could escalate the sloth worthy plot.

Exception:

I have read one such fanfic that focuses on Damon and Stefan's siter. It is titled as AN EVERLASTING DEATH by taytaylorabc

The OC in this story is Blair Salvatore who is the younger sister of Damon and Stefanl. but this is about the only fact which is cliche in there. The whole concept of the story was original and non-cliche and I really loved it to the extent that I kept reading it until 4 in the morning. Blair was trapped with the tomb Vampires and was at a considerate age to understand all that happened in 1864. 

And the best part is that she doesn't fall in love with either Klaus or Jeremy. But this is all that I could tell you without spoiling the story. So go read it for yourself and you will see exactly why I recommended it. And the book also has a sequel or two. IDK, just check it out.
