This chapter is dedicated to avani_bhargava because she helped me come up with the points in here. As it has been a real long time since I last read such fanfics on Wattpad and my memory isn't that good to remember everything.

The Marauders are the most popular group after the Golden Trio in the HP fandom. So obviously, I had to include The Other Marauder stories. There are about 3.9 K such fanfics on Wattpad which directly emerge when you type the fifth Marauder or other Marauder at Wattpad.

As compared to the Potter and Malfoy siblings, the possibilities here are endless. You can get a whole variety on the OC's origin.

a) She is either Lily's twin sister.

b) Or she is Remus's younger sister.

c) Or she's a fellow Gryffindor with no biological relations to any of the Marauders.

OC's Personality and traits:

1. No matter who the OC is related to, she is a huge social butterfly who knows every single person in the school and is friends with them.

[It's maybe like a requirement for OC to be loud and outgoing if she has to fit in with the Marauders].

2. She instantly befriends the Marauders and gets her own completely original nickname and also when they turn into animagi, she too joins the secret and becomes an unregistered Animagus.

3. Every single good thing you have heard about Lily is not hers anymore. All these virtues and acclaims are given to the OC.

4. She is the first one to discover about Remus's lycanthropy and supports him and becomes his secret keeper.

5. She pranks a lot and wastes a lot of time with James and Sirius but still she gets straight Os in both OWLs and NEWTs.

6. She is a favorite of every Professor there ever was at Hogwarts. Literally nobody hates her. Even those people who she punched in the face thinks she is awesome.

7. In many stories, OC ends up with Sirius. Oh wait, it happens nearly all the time.

8. Or miraculously ends up with James which means Lily is completely left out.

9. Or with Remus if everyone else is taken. Peter simply doesn't stand a chance at all.

10. What happens during the Wizarding War and afterwards is not even mentioned. The story usually starts at first year and ends at the seventh where everything is happy, shiny and lovey dovey.

[You may consider me a sad person who loves tragedy but really I want to read about what happened during the war and how the OC coped with it afterwards. Trust me, it is such a great chance to show development in your character and expose the vulnerable sides the OC may have and it will result in making your readers more connected with your OC].

Effects On Other Characters:

1. As said earlier, Lily is not done justice in these stories mostly. Just like Hermione's character is bashed, Lily is the person who is shown as a one dimensional character who is selfish and an arrogant know it all. Further, Lily is portrayed as someone with no feelings who leads James on for amusement and that is not acceptable for me.

2. James is either a hero or a bully depending on who the OC is with. And can I also state that this female Marauder is friends with Snape too?

3. Remus is always the book nerd who knows the most complicated of answers and score good in every test. Other than that or howling at a full moon, he really doesn't have any personality. 

[Remus Lupin needs a cart full of chocolate and a lot of love and appreciation, okay? Nothing anyone says is going to make me change my mind].

4. Snape has a desperate crush on the OC and she is nice to him but only to friend zone him in the end.

5. No one from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff exists and even if they do they are only there to be the victim of the Marauder's pranks.

6. And the Slytherins are only there to create unwanted drama.

7. Peter is only in the story because he was a Marauder too but we never get to see him at all. If we do, it's Peter snacking up on any food item he could find or being a mean brat to people around him. Or just being painfully stupid, dumb and pathetic.

8. There are no other characters except the Marauders, Lily and Snape.

9. But if OC is dating Sirius, Marlene comes up as the possessive ex girlfriend who will do anything to get the OC off Sirius and cause further unwanted drama.

10. And all the remaining characters simply don't turn up such as the Professors are never really shown except Dumbledore or McGonagall and they too are not paid much attention to.

This once I have a lot of recommendations for you all.

Other than Kitty there are also many good HP fanfic writers such as viiv-xvii , kencbi , Jtsquared4 and many many more.

And the books of Marauders Era that I recommend are:

1970s by viiv-xvii : It's amazing. Every single thing from the writing to the plot is extremely well written. The characters in it are also very captivating and for me it was a real hard-to-put-down book. I loved it a lot. So far this book is the closest and authentic portrayal of the Marauders before and after the War. The raw emotion and feelings are sensational. Don't miss on this one. Plus, it's the only fanfic I have read about Sirius after his escapade from the Ministry and then meeting the person he used to love before.  

Breaking Black by brianne867 : This fanfic is also a must read. The main character and her time with the Marauders is written beautifully and you will feel every single emotion the characters go through as you delve deeper into the book. You might have guessed by the name that it is centered around Sirius as the OC's love interest. But it's worth all the reads and votes because the author has paid great attention to the plot, the characters and everything. It is not just a love story.

Wormtail by kencbi : I have just started this book but it is great. It hooks you in from the beginning and is a must read. We get to see everything through Peter's eyes and honestly, you should read it because then you'll realize how much hate is aimed at Peter even though it's unfair. If you have noticed, all of us relate to Peter as a human being and he just shouldn't be shunned so much.

Fight Or Flight by Jtsquared4 : This is not a full novel length book but a one shot though I would love to read a book based on the plot of the one shot. The author has included it in her Short Stories book and let me tell you, just like I said about Wormtail, Peter Pettigrew needs a chance to explain his side of the story. The one shot was absolutely amazing and worth reading. Peter's character has been captured flawlessly by the author and it is simply perfect.
