* Superman's Daughter
I initially suspected that the Hero's Daughter trope would be similar for both Batman and Superman.
And guess what, I wasn't wrong.
The only differences lie in the genetics of both kids, otherwise it's a pretty similar story with just another villain and some other love interest.
Anyhow, welcome back to yet another chapter on cliché plotlines in the DC fandom. And today our most esteemed guest are the Superman's daughter stories.
Give a big round of applause, everybody! We have another Kryptonian in our midst.
[By the way, ignore that boy in red and black running around screaming that his conspiracy theory was right. He believes the aliens are teaming up for an invasion, pffft... How far fetched].
OC's Personality and traits:
1. Most of the Superman's Daughter stories feature OC that is either Clark Kent and Lois Lane's daughter, or Superman and Wonder Woman's daughter. Either way this OC is very overpowered and can do anything and everything possible (sometimes even the impossible).
2. In both cases, the OC is a very social person who gets along well with everybody. Though there are a few stories in which she is socially awkward and living under the shadow of being a hero's daughter, expected to do a lot yet not feeling ready for it.
[I would prefer reading a story with the second option provided that the character development is shown clearly. I understand that being a hero's daughter would come with its fair share of expectations and troubles but it all must not just go way conveniently when the OC has the opportunity to save the day. Give reasons to what would make her believe that she must be herself and does not have to fulfil all expectations].
3. The setting for these fanfics is usually the Young Justice timeline so the love interest for the OC also usually is a member of the Young Justice.
4. Or if the OC is Jonathan Kent's twin sister, then she happens to fall in love with Damian Wayne.
5. For the stories in which OC's mother is Wonder Woman, the villain is someone who's targeting Amazonian warriors and this Super-Wonder kid takes the role of being the chosen one and fights defeats the villain.
6. Sometimes, Lex Luthor shows up in villain mode. Though I have read one story in which he was the love interest and I was like why... Also let's just not talk about the fanfics in which Bruce is the love interest, I don't want to go that route.
[My reaction would have been no different than Supes if only I were a Kryptonian and could have superpowers].
7. Whoever the villain is, the end outcome is that Supergirl 2.0 lands him a destructive K.O and saves Metropolis and the rest of the world.
8. The day is saved, she gets a happy ending with her lover and everything is happy shiny rainbows for everybody.
Effects on other characters:
1. There are two types of stories; one in which Clark is an overly protective Dad who can't let his little princess come to any harm, and two in which he is an absent figure because he's too busy saving the world to have any time for him family.
[I think Clark would be an awesome Dad though, and I also believe Bruce often rings him up for advice on how to deal with his handful of children].
2. Wonder Woman (in stories that feature her as the OC's mother) is a helicopter parent most of the time. And that too is something which I feel like wouldn't be true to her canon character. But we can let that pass because we see very little of her in the story either way so...
3. In Jon's twin stories, OC and Jon usually don't get along and her favorite brother is Connor because she is rebellious like him and hangs out with him all the time. We often see Jon portrayed as the twin who gets mad at his sister for no reason (which again is something I can't digest because Jonathan is the sweetest person to ever exist in the Kent fam, I can't think so otherwise).
[I feel like Jon would be a great brother too; very supportive of his sister, always up to some ruckus that the two caused together and most of the times, taking the blame for the mischief she gets into and then Connor would be the one covering up for them in front of Lois].
4. If the OC has a good bonding with Jon, then Connor automatically becomes the meanie brother.
5. Krypto, my dear, I haven't read about you in a single story as of yet. But then I feel like there will be an addition ever since DC Super Pets came out so we might be seeing more of the Superdog in Kent fam fanfics.
6. If the love interest is Damian Wayne (which always is the case in the Jon's twin sister stories), we see Damian portrayed as a perfect match for our lovely OC. The kind of cute childhood friends to lovers trope is also followed often along with the brother's best friend trope. But yeah, long story short, Damian is a meanie to everybody except the OC.
[Ngl, I absolutely love this gif 😅].
7. In YJ timeline stories, the love interest is either Aqualad, Kid Flash or Robin. Whoever it is out of these three, we see him in a perfect boyfriend material version of himself. And though there's nothing wrong with that, I feel like there must be more depth to their characters than just being there as a potential love interest for the OC.
Exception:
I have yet to find a well written fanfic for Clark Kent's daughter so if you guys have any recommendations, feel free to comment them here.

What cliché plot do you want me to write about in the next chapter? I feel like I have covered all those that are very overused though we do have the Joker's daughter and the Joker's love interest lined up for later.
If there are any other plots that you have seen a lot in fanfics, comment them here and I will check them out so that a chapter can be formulated on them as well.
See you soon and I hope you all have a good day. Now I gotta run because I have an assignment due and must get it done with quickly.
Channeling my inner Flash (though I must admit no such thing exists irl, I am a very lazy person and I know I will spend yet another hour writing...), bye bye!
