"Stop fussing, I'm fine," Cecily told Gabriel when he insisted on fetching her a cold flannel. "I just need some rest."

"You're not fine Cecy, your face is all red!" Gabriel insisted, sitting down by her bedside and tipping a glass of water to her mouth. She coughed and drank, even if she felt she was giving in too easily.

Gabriel had been there all day, fussing and insisting he bring her stuff. She didn't mind him being a little over protective, but it became rather tedious when he wouldn't wipe that worried look of his face; it made her feel guilty if anything.

"If you don't get better soon I'm sending for the silent brothers," Gabriel warned, taking her hand and holding it in his lap. Cecily sat up in bed and leaned her head on his shoulder.

"I don't need the silent brothers, I just need some rest," Cecily said.

"You're burning Cecy!" Gabriel exclaimed, putting a hand to her scorching forehead.

"I'm sure I'll be fine, besides, don't shadowhunters get sick all the time?"

It took Gabriel a few seconds to answer, "yes, but..."

"But nothing," Cecily interrupted, "I just need some sleep, so how about you go and train for an hour or two?" she suggested. Gabriel was reluctant to leave, but after some prompting and bribery with kisses, he finally left.

Gabriel didn't want to leave Cecily alone, not when she was like this! Sure, she says she's alright, she might even look alright at first glance, but Gabriel knew better. He would train, as Cecily had asked him to, but if she wasn't showing any signs of improvement by the time he returned, he was calling the brothers.

Tessa passed in the hallway, "How's Cecily?" she asked.

"Not good," he replied, stopping in his tracks when he noticed Will down the corridor, following after Tessa.

"What's wrong?" Gabriel asked when he saw the annoyance on Tessa's face, but she quickly pulled her lips up into a smile.

"Oh nothing," she said, and quickly continued in down the hall without looking back. A few moments later Will walked past without stopping and continued following her.

Henry was in the training room when Gabriel got there, holding his son Charles in his arms.

"Gabriel?" he asked, when he walked into the room, "I thought you were with Cecily?"

Gabriel, picked up three knifes and threw one at a target across the room. "She insisted I train while she sleeps," he said, throwing the second knife.

Henry only nodded before picking up a sword and naming it to his son. Gabriel shook his head and threw the third knife.

Cecily had just woken up a few moments before when Gabriel walked in. She sat up quickly, her head spinning from the sudden movement and leaned back. Gabriel ran to her side, his face a mask of panic and held her head in his arms.

"I'm okay," she reassured him, but she was starting to believe him, that maybe she wasn't so. She was tired and her head hurt. She wrapped her arms around Gabriel's waist.

"I'm calling for the silent brother," Gabriel said. Cecily didn't object. "And until they arrive I'm not leaving you."

"I hoped you'd say that," Cecily said, lifting her head and kissing Gabriel on the cheek.

Not as long as the last gabrily one-shot but oh well, still fun to write.
