5. the accidental lock out
Okay. Everything is going to shit right now. Lalisa wants to take her ass back to Europe ang spend another week there while Jeongguk sorts out his issues.
First, the TV broke because apparently her husband accidentally had his friends over and one of them bumped into the TV so hard that it fell. Second, he's apparently a chef but there are no ingredients nor groceries left in the fridge. Who does that?
And lastly, when they were trying to lift the TV towards her parked car at the other side of the street, their front door closed and locked automatically, therefore they're stuck outside for the time being.
Just great.
Anyway, it's not Lalisa's fault. It's Jeongguk's, that's why the said man is currently running around in circles in search for an open door like a madman.
"Honey," he whines petulantly, beads of sweat falling down his forehead. "There's no open door!"
"That's your fault for putting up an impenetrable security system," she points out as she tries to straighten up in her heels. She recently came home from a mission in London and she just wants nothing more than to lie down and sleep for the next two days. "You deal with it."
"I've tried everything." Jeongguk sighs and sits down on the grass. "The garage is locked. The back door is locked. The hidden door under the swimming pool is locked. Everything."
Lalisa looks at him. At his tired eyes, his unconscious pout, his messy hair. He's been trying to find solutions for the past 30 minutes but has none. He may be at fault here but she's still so whipped for him, so she reluctantly takes off her heels.
Fuck it, she decides.
Her husband frowns when she hands him the pair of Louboutins. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to climb our wall," she replies simply, already grabbing the bundle of rope she keeps next to the growing rose bushes. She gathers the thick material in her hand, discreetly checking if there are blood stains or dirt tracks. There's none.
Jeongguk stares at her like she's grown two heads while she makes a knot. "What?"
"I'm going to climb the wall, I said."
"H-how?"
Lalisa huffs and shoves the rope to his face. "With a rope, you idiot."
"But... how do you know--"
"We climb walls everytime in work, Ggukie," she explains, walking towards the back where their bedroom's balcony is located. "When the birds get stuck to a tree, we climb up so we can save them."
She's not really sure if it happens... but her husband might become weirded out that part of her real job requires her to sometimes sneak into people's houses.
"That's..." he mumbles, "that makes sense."
"What do you mean?" She throws the rope onto balcony and tests if it attaches to something. With a few tugs, she finds out it does.
"We do climbing in work, too," he admits, looking at the floor. She doesn't get his embarrassed demeanor but it doesn't mean she isn't enjoying it. "Like... you know. When we get apples from trees."
Now it's her turn to be shocked. "Apples from trees?" She sputters. Apples from trees? He's a chef... isn't he?
"Yeah. The, uh, the head chef tests our endurance by making us climb trees for fresh ingredients."
Oh. Now she understands.
Lalisa doesn't know what to do with this information, though. Being a part of the restaurant Jeongguk is working in must be difficult. Imagine applying as a waiter and the next thing you know, you're climbing an apple tree?
Unbelievable.
"Um, okay, honey."
She doesn't waste any time and uses her upper body strength to help her lift herself up to the wall. With easy and memorized steps, she's able to walk vertically with a tight grip on the rope in her hands.
Thankfully, the neighborhood where they both live in is nearly empty, and that means no one can come snooping around whenever she does something related to her espionage job. She isn't worried about being caught, and it's good.
She barely bears Jeongguk's soft gasp from behind her as she finally grips the balcony, swiftly climbing up the raining and landing smoothly on the floor.
"I'm here, honey!" She waves at him with a smile.
Jeongguk squints his eyes because of the sun. "Yeah, I have eyes, you know?"
Lalisa rolls her eyes. "Not really. Anyway, wait for my signal. I'll open the doors first."
He gives her a last nod before she slides the sliding door that leads to the bedroom wide open, sighing as she's finally greeted by the warmth of their room.
She eventually opens the front door and lets Jeongguk in, and her husband apologizes to her through a warm bath and a million of kisses all over her face.
Ah, she's far too gone for him.
