2. first date
Jeongguk isn't really into dates. He's not a big fan, obviously, because of the impending hurt and pain it'll give. Relationships are messy, he knows. But when he saw Lalisa in that ugly shirt back in the grocery store last week, well... she was too cute to not date.
He just didn't get why she asked him to push her to that man, though.
Anyway, a week later, he's now standing in from of her door, holding a bucket of fried chicken. He's not experienced in dates, since most of his life, he's done nothing but kill people and that's it. He's had flings, yeah, but dates? Nope.
In fact, this is actually his first serious date. He doesn't have to do this, but he's been thinking about her for days now that he can't just get out of her mind.
Ugh.
He rings the door bell again, and finally, a muffled "Come in!" rings from the inside.
Taking a deep breath, he holds the fried chicken tighter and fluffs his blonde hair messily. Gosh, he's killed countless of people before, but why is he so tense for a date?
Jeongguk slowly opens the door. He's about to greet Lalisa a hello when his eyes land on a handful of things in the living room couch.
There were night vision goggles, binoculars, several passports, some... weird devices that he could only think of as advanced technology. He's not really well-versed in that aspect but he knows what it looks like.
Huh.
A gasp comes from beside him.
He turns his head just in time to see Lalisa standing at the kitchen archway, lips formed into a big O and her eyes so wide they could pop out of their sockets. She's looking at the devices, and then back to Jeongguk, and then the devices.
"Hi," Jeongguk greets dumbly, and Lalisa visibly gulps. "You sure have a lot of binoculars."
Lisa finally blinks and lets out an awkward laugh. "Uh, yeah, haha." She hurries to the couch and carries them all in one hand. "I work as a... a bird watcher in a... wildlife conservation company."
"Yeah? That's so cool!" He exclaims with a grin. Birds have always fascinated him, that's why he was a hummingbird tattoo on his back. Suddenly, something catches his attention. "Oh, is this a night vision goggle?"
Lalisa immediately snatches the goggles away from him and hides the thing behind her back. "Yeah! Bird watching, like I said."
"You bird watch during the night?"
"Uh... yeah... I do." She nods, looking anywhere but him. "Some birds are shy."
"Shy..." Jeongguk repeats.
"Yeah, because..." She clears her throat. Her cheeks have become a pink color, the tips of her ears red. "They're shy."
Why is she so cute when flustered? Jeongguk wants to die.
"Um, anyway." He holds out the bucket in front of her. "I brought chicken."
The way her eyes lights up at the sight of food will forever be embedded into his mind. She smiles so wide, eyes twinkling in delight, and Jeongguk almost melts right then and there.
"Thank you!" She squeals and then holds his hand. Jeongguk wants to faint. "Anyway, enough of all this bird watching talk. How about you, what do you work as?"
"Chef," Jeongguk blurts out as she drags him towards what he thinks is her bedroom. "I'm a chef, yeah."
This is going to be a long night.
