Laura, Michael, and Mrs. Mell sat in the living room, eating nachos and sitting in awkward silence until...

"So... is it official?"

"I-I'm sorry, what?" Laura asked, knowing exactly what she meant.

"Well, I just had to ask. It's been gnawing at me since Michael first told me about you. 'Oh she's the new girl, she's so sweet, she helped me after Jeremy...'" Mrs. Mell stopped herself, hoping not to upset Michael. "Well, while he told me all this, I-I thought it was a rom-com prompt if I ever heard one! Michael would've denied it, but I don't know why. I'm not like regular moms. I'm a cool mom, right Michael?" Michael started glaring at his mother and Laura was trying to hold back her laughter, seeing as though Mrs. Mell has just made a 'Mean Girls' reference. "So I thought I'd get the real story out of you. Returning to my question, Is It Official??" She asked, with an expectant look on her face.

"Yes. Yes, it is official," Laura said, which earned a hefty glare from Michael and a giddy smile from Mrs. Mell.

"It's Official That we are friends, nothing more, nothing less."

"But..but Hijo, why did you bring her here to meet me?"

"Cause, she's a musical geek too."

*le gasp* "You're a fellow thespian?!?"

"Uh Yeah," Laura said, showing her CATmilton shirt off.

"AND YOU LOVE CATS!!! It's a girl after my own heart! Oh, I always dreamed you'd find someone like me to-"

"MOM!"

"-But.. she seems like a wonderful friend." Suddenly, a car door slammed shut.

"Oh No," Mrs. Mell exclaimed, as Michael fled downstairs to the basement with a confused Laura.

"Okay, what just happened?"

"Dad's home," Michael said, almost out of breath from running.
