Chapter 5
Namjoon forgot how to breathe for a moment as he watched Prince Seokjin and Lady Sarang bow to each other…
As the newly wedded groom and bride.
He still couldn't believe it, even when he was witnessing the Royal Wedding for the first time.
Seokjin looked at him and motioned for him to approach him. Namjoon had received an order the night before to attend the wedding as a friend rather than as his guard. Namjoon desperately wanted to decline but couldn't.
He was happy for his brother, and he was also happy for Lady Sarang.
But he felt like breathing was the most difficult thing in the world, and he wished he could disappear.
Namjoon felt bad for not being able to express his complete joy for them. They were the two most important people in his life, and he knew they deserved to be happy.
He smiled as he approached the couple, congratulating them.
He found it amusing that of all the things he wanted to say to each of them, that was the only thing he could get himself to say.
"Isn't she the most beautiful of all?" Seokjin half-whispered to Namjoon, chuckling, when his now-wife hit him lightly on the shoulder, embarrassed.
Namjoon dared to look at Lady Sarang, staring at her for a few seconds, hoping the Prince wouldn't notice.
"She is." He returned the whisper to his prince, who was waving to the crowd. "She is, Your Highness."
Namjoon clutched his sword as he followed the newlywed couple to their new chambers as the wedding came to an end. It was a breezy night. He stood outside, facing the lake that had separated him from Lady Sarang all those months ago.
For the first time, a single tear streamed down his cold cheek, he regretted vowing to serve his best friend and future king for the rest of his life, he never got to tell Lady Sarang how he felt about her, and now, he will have to endure this pain for the rest of his life till the day he dies, living with regret.
-The end-
