Chapter 3: Uncle Hikari?
Akaria walks into the classroom with Selby as he notices a statue in the classroom, which makes him in total shock.
"Why is the Ofunehiki statue here?" He asks in pure confusion as he sat in his desk to wait for the class to start.
Uma looks at his distance to see a girl across from Akaria who waves at him with a smile on her face.
"Ok, Uma. You know that girl in our class? I never seen her before. Is she a transfer student?" He asks, which Uma was trying to hide his feelings.
"Class, settle down! As you notice the weather is changing and you notice that the Ojoshi-sama statue for the Ofunehiki is here.
Someone special wants to talk about his experience of making the Ojoshi-sama ." The teacher explains as Akari was in total shock of who came into his classroom.
"U-Uncle Hikari?!?" Akari exclaims as the classmates who didn't know about his family's history begins to grow in surprise as well.
"Wait, Akaria. You saying that Hikari is your uncle, isn't?" A classmate asks him, which Akaria nods but curiosity came to him.
"Hikari, I know that it is a shock that you arrived here in school, and I'm grateful that you're here, but why you bring the Ojoshi-sama statue here, in all places?" Akaria asks his uncle.
That was when Hikari clears his throat at his nephew's question. "I know it's all sudden, but did you notice that there is snowflakes falling outside isn't?"
Akaria looks outside the classroom window and it hit him.
His eyes turns into scared eyes as he knew it was the reason that Hikari never knew that he was existed.
"No! I can't let the Ofunehiki happen, not again! You missed out on everything that has happen to our family, you missed out of knowing me when you were in the five year hibernation!
It's not going to end like this!" Akaria said, in pure irate tone as he ran out of the classroom as he feels the snowflakes touching towards the ground before him.
Himai looks at Hikari. "Geez, Hikari. I know that Akaria is your nephew, but it was he said true that you didn't know him that well three years ago?"
"It was during when the last Ofunehiki . It was harder on me because of Manaka. She sacrificed herself to become the Ojoshi.
When she did, she was the last person to rejoin us to the surface, and lost her ability to love." Hikari explains.
Himai said, turning at the statue, "I didn't know that doing the ceremony would affect someone so much.
Can we really pull it off?"
Uma said, "With Hikari and the others helping us out, we can do this in no time... if Akaria can handle it."
Shelby felt something, something in her heart that stings as she sees Uma with the girl in her class.
"What is this feeling? I never experience this before." She thought as she watches Uma helping Hikari and some of her classmates making the statue of Lady Ojoshi.
Hikari said, "This really takes me back memories. I am really starting to enjoy making the Ojoshi again."
Uma asks, "Why is that, Hikari?" The boy replies to him in a smile, "It is because this is how I met Munia and Sayu in the first place."
The girl replied with pure shock, "Really?!? Wow, that's amazing that you guys get along so long now. I wonder if Akaria knows about it."
Shelby couldn't bear it as she decides to look Akaria herself , to shake the feeling that she was experiencing .
She finally found him staring at the pool for the people who has Ena.
"You really have to express your anger in front of the class , do ya?"
Akaria jumps in surprise as he finally notices her appearance.
"Man, Shelby! You scared the heck of out me! You should've warn me that you would be way out here." He said, as Shelby chuckles at the fourteen year old's actions.
Shelby sat next to Akaria as she said, "Akaria... You have to accept that the Ofunehiki will happen.
It has to be done, and besides it's going to be fun with helping making the Ojoshi statue."
The boy was amazed by his friend's actions. He never seen her so excited for anything, especially for a ceremony like the Ofunehiki.
"Shelby! Akaria! Come on, you guys, Hikari and the others already putting the Ojoshi statue and really use your help here!" Uma said, waving in the distance.
"We'll be right there!" Shelby replied to their friend's call, and pulls Akaria by his shoulder.
"S-Shelby!" Akaria exclaims by her actions as they went back to the classroom.
As they arrived, they were amazed of the students actually putting the statue in harmony.
"There you are! Com'on, don't stand there." Hikari seems to smiling that his nephew calmed down as he and Shelby set their backpacks down and went to help with the preparations for the Ofunehiki.
Manaka walks down the beach, looking at the sea, remembering the last time she was with Kaname, Hikari and Chisaki.
It took her a while to admit her feelings to Hikari, even though she can see that he intends to denies he knows it.
"Hey, Manaka! " She heard someone calling her name as she turns to see Tsumgu.
She was in shock that he came back to the village of Oshiooshi.
"Tsumgu! I thought that you were still in school . Why you here, and why you didn't come to your house to greet your grandfather and Chisaki?"
The boy shrugs, "I will greet them shortly , Manaka. I just wanted to see you first. I heard about the upcoming Ofunehiki and I thought I should help anyway I can."
Manaka nods at her friend's concern , but it made her thought about how Hikari felt about it.
"Is something the matter, Manaka? Was it something I've said that makes you unhappy about me returning to Oshiooshi?"
"No! It's not that!" She exclaims , waving her hands, "It's just I'm more worried about how Hikari is feeling about all of this.
Remember that he was the first person to awoken from the five year hibernation and he barely knows Akaria?"
Tsumgu scratches his chin, as he said, "Yeah, you're probably right. It took me and Munia by compete surprise that he came back to Oshiooshi after five year hibernation, not knowing that everything he knew changed. "
Manaka said, looking back at the view of the ocean, "I just hope that the Ofunehiki would be all right.
We'll be safe from another hibernation, I hope."
Both of them were unsure of what the outcome would behold for the future.
