Toby's POV:

I walk out of the hospital looking for my dad and I find him crying on the floor.

"Come on dad, she's okay now." I say and lift him up from the ground.

"What kind of father am I? I couldn't protect my daughter!" He bursts out crying. It makes my heart ache to witness him break down.

"It's not your fault dad, it's the bastard who caused the accident."

"Come on, the doctor needs to talk to us." I say and my dad calms down a little bit.

We head inside and the doctor comes out of the operating room looking relieved,but with a smile on his face.

"Mr Cornelius, your daughter is a very strong girl, she came back on her own, and now she's okay, it's a miracle actually.She just needs a lot of rest, and as I said she needs to be kept in the hospital for a few months so that her face and other fractures can fully heal"

"Thank you doctor "i say.

" Dad, I think you and mom should get some rest, I'll stay here"i say.

"No, we have to stay here for Tatum " my dad says.

" She's fine now dad, you don't have to worry besides I'm staying here with her"i say.

"OK, but did you ask the doctor, when she'll be awake"

"The doctors said that she needs a lot of rest, but she might wake up anytime, they are unsure, but they are sure she'll be fine "i say

"Okay then, just call me if she wakes up ok"

"I will dad"i say and my mom and dad head back home.

I turn around to walk to Tatum's room and I see Brandon coming my way.

" Hey, my dad went home, I'm gonna stay overnight " he says

" Yeah me too"I say

"Your parents really look upset"

"Yeah I know, I just hate seeing them this way" i say

"Where's Samuel, did you call him " he asks.

"No, he doesn't have to know"

"What are you talking about, as much as I hate it, Sam and Tatum are serious about each other, I think he deserves to know "he says.

" Just let it go, I know what I'm doing"i say

"OK, but Tatum's gonna want him here though"

"Whatever, let's just go to her room"i say and we head to Tatum's room.

We both go in and I move a chair closer to her bed. I sit right next to her and start stroking her hair.

"I know nothing will happen to my baby sis, Tatum you're stronger than all of us combined. All you have to do is wake up now, so that I can tease you, who am I gonna tease if you're gone. "i say and start crying. She just needs to wake up now. I still can't believe this happened to her. Even though bandages are covering her face, I can still feel that she's my sister.

Her life changed so fast in just a blink of an eye. Imagine what she was going through, how scared she was when she saw the truck.

I wipe away my tears.

"Did Kaitlyn say anything about the truck driver" Brandon asks.

"Yeah, he was drunk and when he crashed, his seat belt wasn't on, and he died, but I really don't care"i say thinking about the heartless person that put my sister in this situation.

"Can I be alone with her, please"Brandon asks hesitantly.

"You love her, don't you"i say referring to Tatum

"Of course I do " he says

" Come on man, do you like love her, like really love her, I know you do"

"Maybe_"he trails off"_I...Even if I do, it wouldn't matter anyways " he says

" Sam's in the way, isn't he"i say

"If you think about it, not really, even if Sam and Tatum never met I still wouldn't have a chance with her, she doesn't feel the same way and that's it"he says.

"Mmm"i get up and leave Brandon with Tatum. I sit down on the chairs outside her room. I look at the time and it's 12.30pm
I close my eyes and I drift into sleep. Soon I'm shaken awake by someone.

"Huh"i say.

"Tatum's waking up"Brandon says and looks overjoyed

"Come on let's go see her " he grabs my arm, but I pull him back.

" Wait, how are we gonna tell her about everything, about her face, she'll really be upset."i say

"We don't have to tell her now, it's not like she's gonna see her reflection anytime soon " Brandon says.

" OK, let me call my parents quick "i say. I call my dad and they say they're immediately on their way.

"Let's go in, they'll be here in a few minutes"i say. Brandon nods and we walk into Tatum's hospital room. I walk slowly closer until I make eye contact with her.
"Hey, Tatum,how are you feeling"i ask, but she has a confused look on her face. I hate that her face has to be full of this stitches, bruises and bandages.

"What."she asks.Taking in her surrounding and looking at us strangely.

"Who are you, and who's Tatum? "she asks and I can't believe what I'm hearing. I look up at Brandon. I don't know what to do.
Brandon steps closer in Tatum's eye view.
"Tatum, it's Toby your brother" He taps on my shoulder.

"What, are you talking about, who's Toby who's Tatum " she asks.oh no why this.

"I'll call the doctor" Brandon says rushing out of the room. And coming back in a flash with the doctor and nurse.

"Tatum, what do you remember, do you know who you are " the doctor asks her slowly.

" What, I don't remember anything, who am I, why don't I remember "she says. I run out of her room and fall with my knees to the ground and my head in my hands. Why, why why! I break down.

" OH my God, Toby what's wrong, what happened"i hear my mom's voice and I look up seeing my parents worried faces.

"What's wrong son, you said she woke up " my dad says and pulls me up, but letting me sit down on a chair, because I would just fall again.

" She did wake up dad, but she doesn't remember "i say, my voice cracking and almost choking on my tears.I can't handle this, what's going to happen now.

" What "Dad asks.

" She can't remember, she lost her memory dad"I shout, frustratedly. My dad and mom rush into her room and later come out crying.

They are completely silent and mom sits down next to me, while dad is standing against the wall trying keep himself balanced. Brandon also comes out later and sits on my right. The doctor said that he will tell her everything about the accident, her face and the memory lost, because it will be a lot to take in for her and she doesn't need stress now.

After a few hours of silence. Mom speaks up.

"You know what, maybe this isn't such a bad thing " my mom says and all our attention is pulled to her.How could she say this. Tatum's been in an accident and lost her memory, and she's saying this isn't a bad thing.

"Mom, what are you saying, how can this be a good thing, she forgot about everything all our memories, she forgot her family, she sees us as strangers now. "i say

" Yes, but the thing is, we will have to help her to regain her memory back" she says.

" So"i say

"So, what if we change the story a little bit " she says. Mom has a mischievous look on her face.

"Alina, what craziness is going on in your head now " my dad says.

" shh, just listen, we don't have to tell her about Samuel, we could say that Brandon is her boyfriend,we can apply to universities for her, and we don't have to tell her about her dancing either,so she'll take over the business " my mom says

" What are you talking about Alina, we can't do that to our daughter, it's not right " my dad argues and I agree with him.

" Do you want to give your business to someone else and do you want your daughter to run off with a Bad boy and have him take advantage of her, I still don't trust Sam, and I know that you don't as well, plus it's obvious that Brandon has feelings for her, and we know him, he's perfect for her " my mom says in a matter of fact tone.

" I hate Sam, I won't let him take advantage of my little girl, you're right, maybe this isn't a bad thing " my dad says, well they are making a good point, she'll be taking all the right paths in her life.

" Wait, come on, you guys can't be serious, we can't possibly do this to her " Brandon says.

" But you love her don't you"i say

"I do, but "i cut him off

" And you want a chance with her, don't you"i ask

"Yeah, but"I cut him off again

"So, here's your chance "I say

" But"he's cut off by my mom this time.

"No more, buts, if you really love her, you would take this opportunity "My mom says and Brandon just nods hesitantly.

" OK, then, but what if she remembers Sam later on"Brandon says

"She won't unless someone tells her, the doctor said that she won't remember anything unless we help her, unless we remind her of the past, but we don't have to tell her anything, especially about Sam " my mom says.

" OK " Brandon says gropingly.

Sam's a friend, but I'm actually not ok with him dating my sis.

" OK then, but we will have to move too, because she will eventually bump into Sam here " mom says

"Yeah, we don't have to move out of the city though, we can just move further away from where we are and Sam is"my dad says.

"Toby, you and Brandon can pack up Tatum's things and get rid of everything that will remind her of Sam"Mom instructs.

"Will do, we can start packing tomorrow and I'm guessing you're gonna move her to another hospital"I ask dad.

"Yes, but we'll have to talk to the doctor first"dad says.

"OH and I can take all of the things that Sam gave to her back to him, and tell him that she sent me and that she wants nothing to do with him anymore "I suggest.

" As long as you get rid of it " dad says. And I nod.
