Me: Stop... I know what you're trying to do. And it won't work.

Book: *still sitting there*

Me: Stop it! Stop making that adorable face at me! You know I can't resist it!

Book: ....

Me: Look, it's not you, it's me. I'm gonna get really attached, then find the other books. Then I'll finish the series. And then I'll sob my heart out!

Book: *still there*

Me: *yelling* IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?! I'M SORRY, OKAY?! It's just.... Many of your kind have hurt me... And I don't wanna go through that again.

Book: *still sitting there*

Me: Oh, fine. What are the chances of it happening again? For the 30th time? *picks up book*
