Chapter 31
My jaw slightly dropped. It had been so long since I really looked at him. He looked sexy. The suit fit him perfectly, but the top buttons of the shirt were undone and the tie was loose around his neck. I could just imagine all his muscles underneath that suit. I didn’t want Chris to be right, but just looking at Grayson I wanted to jump him. The extra hormones from pregnancy weren’t helping my case. After I perved out a bit, my eyes made my way up to his, he was looking directly at the bump Chris’ hands were outlining.
My smile slowly disappeared. Chris stood up with his stupid smile still huge.
Grayson’s blue eyes flickered between Chris and me. His eyes turned amber at the quickest rate I’ve ever seen. All Grayson had to do was blink once and they went from blue to amber.
He was mad. I had to know why, maybe because I hadn’t told him. So I took down my shield.
Grayson was so mad; irrationally furious would be a better description for the anger coming from him in waves. He’d past the point where he could control his wolf anymore. He thought the baby was someone I hooked up with while I was gone. He thought I betrayed him, which instantly made me angry.
Chris took a step towards Grayson, heart set on congratulating him on the baby. Chris wasn’t aware that Grayson had no idea I was pregnant.
Grayson was ready to attack Chris for supporting the idea of me having another man’s child.
Before Chris could put a foot down closer to Grayson, I forced him behind me.
“What are you doing Casey?” Chris asked confused as he tried to steady himself.
“He didn’t know.” I whispered. I was afraid.
Chris’ confusion hit a new level. I had been holding out on Grayson. That hurt Chris. That made him mad at me, disappointed in me. I shouldn’t have hidden the fact that I was pregnant from anyone in the pack, let alone Grayson, the baby’s father.
“You need to stay behind me Chris. He won’t go after you if I’m in the way.” I said just above a whisper. My throat felt dry.
“You can’t take him.” Chris sounded grumpy. “Not in your condition.”
I glared at him over my shoulder. “You act like I’m incapable of taking care of myself.”
He nodded, “Not against a werewolf.”
“It’s Grayson.” He both knew he wouldn’t hurt me…physically.
“That’s not Grayson. That’s his wolf.” Chris put his hand on my shoulder. “Gray isn’t like Grayson.”
The amber eyes looked at the hand on my shoulder and growled. Chris took his hand off of me and backed away from me. Chris didn’t go far though. He stayed close enough that he could grab me and pull me away if he needed to.
Grayson’s wolf scared Chris.
But Chris would stay to get me away from Grayson, or at least hold him back long enough for me to get away.
“You call Grayson’s wolf Gray?”
Chris nodded. “Yes.”
The persistent rumbling from Grayson… well Gray, stopped.
“You protect her?” Gray’s voice was a rumble, the wolf didn’t keep the power out of his voice. He was definitely letting everyone know who he thought was in charge.
Chris looked down, “Someone has to.”
Chris flinched when Gray growled.
I kept a buffer between Gray and me. I needed to keep him away from Chris. He wanted to rip Chris’ head off, no matter what the consequences.
“Gray stop.” I pleaded.
Grayson didn’t look away from Chris. “Get your ass over here!” He shouted. I felt the force of the order. Chris instantly took a step forward.
I stopped Chris. Chris tried to fight me when I stopped him, he was compelled to get to Gray…he’s his alpha after all. But my powers were too strong for him to fight.
“You’re not going to hurt him Gray.”
Gray’s amber eyes quickly met mine. “You’re not going to order me around. I’m the boss around here.”
“You’re the boss?!” I wanted to hit him. I settled for sending him flying backwards. He landed on his feet. “You can’t make me do anything.” I stated. My voice rose, “I’ve had enough of your shit!”
He directed all his anger at me. “My shit? What the hell have I done to you?!” He yelled right back, his amber eyes glowed viciously. “You’re the one who ran away with that fucking vampire!”
“Casey, you should stop. You’re just riling him up.” Chris’s voice was a whisper.
“Shut your mouth!” Gray growled harshly at him.
Chris sunk to his knees and lowered his head.
I pushed Gray back again. He growled at me.
“You’re just a bully!” I yelled at him.
“And you’re just a whore!” He yelled.
I was stunned into silence for a second. Chris’ hand rested on my foot and rubbed it a bit. He wanted to comfort me. That was the only way he could. He was under his alpha’s orders.
I had two choices: let his words hurt me or let his words piss me off.
I slammed the all-mighty alpha against the wall. “I’m not a whore!” When he tried to speak, I shut his mouth for him. “You’re an undeserving asshole!” I yelled at him.
“You’re having some asshole’s bastard child.” He growled.
“You have no idea how right you are.” I made him come to me and I grabbed his wrist. He tried to fight me. “Stop it!” It was my turn to do the ordering around here.
I took his hand and put it where the baby was kicking. The baby was upset because I was upset.
Gray just growled as he looked at my stomach. Every breath Gray took sounded like a growl.
“Will you stop growling at your baby?” I didn’t bother trying to keep my anger from my voice. I wanted him to know I was just as angry at him as he was at me.
“I’ll growl at your child if I feel like it.” His eyes met mine.
I didn’t look away from Grayson’s wolf possessed eyes. He could be a child about this if he wanted to, but I wasn’t going to back down from him. I’m the stronger one here.
“I didn’t ask you to stop growling at my child. I asked you to stop growling at your child.” I huffed, “Maybe you should get your ears checked.”
“How can you be having my child?” His eyes narrowed on me. “You’ve been gone for months!”
“I am just over 25 weeks pregnant. That means I got knocked up in late September, which means, you’re the father.”
There were several different emotions running through Gray, too many to keep up with.
Then as quickly as Gray had taken over the conversation, Grayson’s eyes returned to their normal blue.
“What do you mean it’s my child?” He asked in disbelief.
“Exactly as it sounds. You knocked me up before your whore came along.”
He ran his hands over his face. He was exhausted. I could feel it and it was draining me, so I put my walls up. This baby made me tired enough without his help.
“Why didn’t you tell me when you found out?”
I shrugged, “Why would I? You weren’t going to leave her.”
He shook his head, “We could’ve worked something out. You didn’t have to take off with Stephan.”
“I left with Stephan because I had to get out of here!” I yelled. “I had just found out about the baby the day before Connor died. Then you had your little whore here. I had to cope with a baby, my brother’s death, and you showing off your fucking girlfriend.”
I felt something in the room change. Grayson was mad. “Do I really mean that little to you that you’d hide the fact that you’re carrying my child?!” He yelled. Grayson has never yelled at me like this. He’d never been seriously pissed at me.
“You have a girlfriend Grayson! Am I just supposed to be okay with that?”
“You cannot punish me for having a girlfriend, that I was forced to take, by keeping my child from me. That’s cruel.”
“Well you’ve never been a real nice guy.”
He took a very deep breath that sounded like a frustrated growl. He locked his fingers behind his head and paced.
I glanced back at Chris. He was sitting on the floor, arms crossed over his chest, staring at Grayson. I knew Chris was on Grayson’s side in this argument; he was still there just in case Grayson wasn’t able to contain his anger.
I was 100% safe. There was no way Grayson was going to risk hurting his child.
“What’s with the suit?”
Grayson sighed, “I had to wear it. Why do you care?”
“I’m curious.” I narrowed my eyes on him. “Did you marry that whore Grayson?”
He rolled his eyes and walked away from me.
“Answer me!” I followed him. He wasn’t going to get away from this. “Are you married to her now? Is that why you don’t want to answer my question?” Chris scrambled to follow us.
He stopped and turned around quickly. It wasn’t two seconds before he was in my face.
“No. I’m not fucking married.” He growled.
I narrowed my eyes on his. “Then what’s with the suit?” If he was married, all hell was going to break loose.
“I was at a funeral.”
That caught me by surprise. “Who died?”
He started walking to his room again. “No one that you’d care about.” He sounded frustrated before slamming his door. The walls shook from the force.
I jumped when Chris touched my shoulder.
I gave him a small smile. “Whose funeral was it?”
“Miranda’s.”
“Who?” The name didn’t ring any bells.
He sighed. “You know her as Grayson’s whore.”
There's probably only one chapter left and an epilogue. I hope you liked it!
