Chapter 12

Happy New Year everyone! I'll try to update soon, but I doubt I'll be writing anything this weekend. I hope everyone has fun! Be Safe!

Once the pack left the house the guys shifted and went for a run. I knew they were going to make sure that the other pack left our territory. Werewolves may be forced to get along, but they were still very touchy about their territory.

Grayson and Brian stayed behind with Amanda, Matt and I. The poor, defenseless women obviously couldn’t handle any problems without the big strong men...whatever.

I was tired, it had been a very long day and I was ready for sleep. Something felt different as I went up to my room.

It only took a second to figure out that I had an intruder. Monica was there, waiting for me, behind the huge mirror by my bed. I wasn’t the least bit surprised that she’d try to get me when I wasn’t expecting her. That would be the only time she’d be able to get close to me, when Grayson wasn’t around.

I was surprised that she’d do this alone, with no backup. She thought all the guys were gone following her pack’s cars. How did they not notice that she wasn’t with them after the little episode earlier?

She didn’t know that Grayson was coming up the stairs with me. I took the opportunity to read her mind. She didn’t hear Grayson. He always walked so quietly, it was spooky.

When I was at the last step, I turned to look at Grayson. He’d been staring right at my ass with absolutely no shame on his beautiful features.

He smirked and shrugged his shoulders when I narrowed my eyes at him. He opened his mouth to say something, but I quickly put my hands over his mouth. “Come to my room in 45 seconds. Don’t make a sound.” I whispered.

Monica wouldn’t hear me from my room. Not from where she was hiding.

He smirked and nodded. He’d probably wait there until the 45 seconds was up. He’d probably only make it to 30 since he probably thought I was inviting him into my bedroom for sex.

Once in my room, I turned the light on and went to my vanity. She’d take the opportunity here. I wasn’t looking in her direction.

She moved out from behind the mirror. I had to hand it to her, if I didn’t know every move she was making as she decided it, then he would’ve killed me.

I turned around and leaned against my vanity with my arms crossed over my chest. “Really?”

She looked stunned for a second. “I thought it was pretty original.”

I rolled my eyes, “Hiding behind my mirror, waiting for your opportunity to stab me in the back?” I was more disappointed. Werewolves usually attack more head on, then again, she’s a woman. I had very little experience with the female portion of werewolves. “What kind of wolf are you to have to sneak up on a human?”

“And attack you with Grayson around?” She shook her head, grasping harder onto the dagger behind her back. “I don’t think so.” She was nervous. She wasn’t afraid of me, she was afraid of getting caught. She knew killing me would create a lot of problems for her pack, but she didn’t care.

“Whose dagger is that?” I asked, again, she was shocked that I knew.

She brought it out from behind her back, “Its Charles’. Kevin gave this to him.” She replayed the moment she stole it in her mind. She took it from him while she was making out with him in the car. She played the vulnerable card, and he played right into it.

I smirked, “So you’re the pack whore?”

She glared, “I am not.”

“Really? Then why don’t you tell me how you got the dagger.”

She hesitated. “He gave it to me.”

I almost laughed. “Right, I’m sure Charles wanted to give something to you in the back of that car, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t his dagger.”

She was confused now. How does she know? Did Charles tell her? “You don’t know anything!” She was getting mad now.

“I know everything.” I taunted. It was dumb, idiotic, but it was so fun to get her riled up… plus I have time to stall, Grayson wasn’t due to come into the room just yet.

She came at me; I pushed her off to my side without her even touching me. She hadn’t caught me off guard this time. She crashed into my vanity, breaking the half I wasn’t leaning on into pieces. I had to move; otherwise I would’ve fallen onto her. I didn’t want her to swipe at me; she’d break my bones with one hit. It didn’t matter that she was a woman, she was a werewolf.

She didn’t even get a chance to try to get at me again, Grayson rushed through my already broken door. Before the door could slam loudly into my wall, Grayson had Monica squirming by the neck.

I knew Grayson was fast, but he was hardly a blur. I didn’t think he was that fast.

He basically dragged her out of the room by her throat. “Stay put.” He growled the order at me carrying Monica out as she struggled. His eyes were amber, he wasn’t messing around. Grayson was going to be so mad at me.

It was worth it.

I put on shorts and an oversized t-shirt on. I was ready for bed. I planned on sleeping when Grayson was finished yelling about how stupid I was. I was tired. I spent all day worrying about Kevin’s pack’s arrival. I could hardly eat all day because my stomach wouldn’t let me keep anything over the size of a piece of toast.

I took off my makeup, including the cover up on my neck. It didn’t matter if Grayson saw them; he was the one who put them there. I didn’t see him when I walked out of my bathroom. She must have gave him a bit of a fight if he wasn’t back to yell at me yet.

“Looking for me?” Grayson’s growl made me jump. I didn’t even get to put distance between us. He threw me over his shoulder and told me to shut up before carrying me to his room.

It was annoying and uncomfortable to be on Grayson’s shoulder. My tender belly wasn’t meant to support my weight over Grayson’s granite muscles.

He shut the door with his foot. I was surprised it didn’t slam.

He let me go by throwing me on his bed, gently of course. I absolutely loved his bed. I don’t know what it was about his bed, but it was always so comfortable.

I stopped smiling when I saw his face. He was definitely pissed off. His body language was nothing compared to his eyes. They were smoldering.

“It was fine. She didn’t hurt me.” I tried to reason with him.

He shook his head, “No. Don’t try to make excuses. You were stupid. She could have killed you easily.”

“She was too emotional to attack me. She was pissed. She was sloppy.”

He shook his head, “What part of ‘she’s a werewolf’ do you not understand?”

“I’m fine. You saved the day.” I said sarcastically.

“You knew she was in there when you told me to come to your room, didn’t you?” His eyes narrowed.

I just shrugged. I didn’t want to dig the hole I was in any deeper.

He sighed, “You should have told me she was in your room. I could have taken care of her.”

“Where is she now?”

“In the basement.” That meant she was in the werewolf proof cage, throwing a fit no doubt.

I nodded, “Not going to tell Connor yet?”

He shook his head, “I’ll wait until tomorrow. Connor’s not in the mood to deal with a trespasser who tried to kill his baby sister.” Grayson’s anger level went down a lot. I knew just the thing to get him to calm down completely.

I pulled his blankets away from his pillows. I was tired. I wanted to sleep. Grayson would stop being mad at me if I just cuddled up in his bed.

Grayson sighed as he watched me crawl into bed. I knew he’d be looking right at my ass as I crawled in.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Grayson definitely didn’t sound mad anymore.

“I’m going to sleep.” I said simply.

“In here?” He asked in disbelief.

I nodded, “Isn’t it a rule that when there’s any danger, no one’s allowed to be alone?”

Realization lit in his eyes. “Right.”

“I guess I can go snuggle up with Brian and Amanda, but I doubt they’d like that.”

Grayson nodded, “I need to talk to Brian.” Then he turned and left the room. He was probably going to go tell Brian that we had a guest downstairs. I’d have to pay her a visit when no one was there to witness.

I took a look around Grayson’s room since no one was there to bother me. It was different from his room when we were teenagers.  There were no pictures of naked ladies. It was pretty boring actually. The walls were white with white trim. There were no paintings. There was no décor. There wasn’t even a rug.

The bed and furniture were the only things with character. They were from Grayson’s old room. He must have been able to salvage something from the attacks. The dresser, the bed and the side table were all made by Grayson and his father when he was younger. They had carved all the wood out of trees from their territory.

The set probably held a lot of the good memories Grayson had of his father. If I had something I made with my father I’d probably keep it too… then again, this was the bed I had given my virginity to Grayson in.

I closed my eyes with a smile on my face. I was asleep before Grayson got back.
