Ending Author's Note
Congrats reader! You have officially made it to the end of Every Which Way by the UA Storytellers. On behalf of the UA Storytellers, I would like to thank you for giving our story a chance! We had so much fun writing the first crossover, Dancing with Disaster, we just had to write another! If it wasn't for your support, we would not have had the motivation to plan, coordinate, and write our second crossover, so thank you. I would also love to thank all the writers who participate in Every Which Way, and give a special thanks to the admins for their hard work on this crossover and on the server.
Now, the authors were asked a series of questions to share about their experiences writing Every Which Way. Here are some of the responses!
What got you interested in writing this crossover?
JunieWeathers: I absolutely love working with other writers, so when we opened up another crossover, I immediately knew I wanted to be a part of it. We had a ton of fun with the first one, so I knew this one would be just as fun.
Evo: The idea of having all our OC's quirks get shifted around was so unique and interesting that I just had to be a part of it! Plus, it is always a privilege to work with all these amazing authors!
FoxyPuff: The moment we started brainstorming all the possibilities for characters with different quirks, I knew there was something special here. We had so many possibilities to work with and a whole new story and concept to create. I was hooked!
Grim: The last crossover was so much fun, and it was an honor to work alongside all these other authors again! I was especially happy to write from Rocket's point of view after recently completing ISDP!
Sunjin: After having so much fun with the last crossover I was super thrilled for the next potential project! Working with everyone is great to work with and their different storytelling styles are captivating. I think it's fun to have a project where we don't quite know what will happen, it keeps it exciting.
Jun: It was really interesting when we started to come up with different possibilities and what could happen if OCs switched Quirks and the fact that the last crossover was tons of fun!
What was your favorite part of writing the crossover?
FoxyPuff: My favorite part of this crossover was when everybody put their heads together to figure out new characters and this new location. The brainstorming sessions to create the Island of Aru as well as the new shared OCs of Switch, Pele, Toki, and Mayor Mana were really interesting. It was a completely new experience that showed me how much we can accomplish when great minds come together.
JunieWeathers: I loved getting the opportunity to work alongside some very talented writers. Every single writer has their own unique writing style and way of moving the story along. It's almost like putting together a puzzle. We don't know exactly what each writer is going to create, so we wait and see what's going to happen. The product is always so much fun to read, but then we're faced with the challenge of figuring out how we are going to move the story from there. It's just so much fun, and it's honestly my favorite part about writing these crossovers.
Grim: Getting to brainstorm with everyone and see all kinds of ideas was really inspiring! I was so happy to see my cowriters pull together the new character, Mana, and show some representation to the nonbinary community.
Sunjin: I love being part of the process! I love seeing everyone's different details and mindsets come together. Also, just the act of writing itself outside of myself: getting into the mindsets of my characters, their words, their actions, their sense of humor. It's enjoyably challenging.
Jun: My favorite part of this crossover was everyone coming together and trying to figure out what could happen where and how to make everything function as smoothly as possible. It was also really fun getting to introduce new OCs and how they were incorporated such as Mayor Mana, Toki, Switch, and Pele.
Any experiences or references you used to help inspire your chapter?
Evo: When writing my chapter, I had a rough time coming up with Maxie's personality, and deciding how he was going to be like. One day my brother was watching a cartoon, and the main character was trying to make a decision. There was a selfish, "evil" choice and the other was the selfless, "good" choice. Suddenly, an angel and a devil appeared on his shoulder, trying to sway him to make one choice over the other. And that's when I decided that Maxie would be a negative influence on Hinata.
FoxyPuff: From the moment I started talking with Grim about the connection between Koto and Rocket, I knew there was something there to talk about what happened to Koto's family after they passed on. There was a sort of resolution I felt she hasn't really gotten yet in her own story, much like how I struggled to find resolution in my own life. But when people say to write the story you want to read, I knew there should be a way to incorporate that moment of her recognizing they did what they could and see that she has grown. I find we get too caught in our heads and in the past, myself not exempt from this, and found a catharsis in writing this.
Grim: before writing my chapter, I had only thought about Rocket's family briefly. While working with Foxy on the story behind the brilliant Quirk, Illuse, I felt inspired to dive deeper into his backstory, pulling references from all my favorite Halloween movies for his parents' design and my favorite rock artists for Rocket's taste in music.
Sunjin: Honestly, how connected Vivi is to her Quirk and how that connects her to the world around her. (Which without her Quirk, it made this kinda hard to write for me!) She wasn't necessarily an outcast growing up, but she didn't quite fit in either, and having been orphaned at a young age, connection with others is something she struggled with deeply. Also I just wanted a cute beach fluff scene with Kaito and Vivi (Kaivi) ever since we've crack-shipped them.
Is there anything you would like to tell the readers about your writing experience?
