once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a magical world of enchanted snowflakes, white stone and black marble. even though he had everything his heart desired, the child was spoiled, selfish and unkind.
then, one winter's night, a fateful incident occurred, that took away his beloved mother and left the hands of his stepfather stained with blood.
as minutes were turning into hours, years after years went by, and his heart became as frozen as the world of winter around him, turning him into a heartless monster, cursed to conceal himself inside his castle forever.
twenty years later, a ghost of a girl, destined to die at the hands of the capitol, came into his world, seeking shelter from the cold promise of death.
thrown into a game she didn't quite understand, as a pawn in a war of power and control, ever can't help but wonder how he could use this fragile girl with the moonlight eyes, that was nothing more than a mere obstacle at first glance, installed by the man he so very much despised.
a strange bird, indeed.
keeping her inside his castle, locked into a cage of glass, she might just be the key to cause the downfall of his enemies.
but ever deveraux soon comes to realize not to be deceived by appearances, for true beauty can be found within.

then, one summer's day, a fateful incident occurred, that took away the last bit of freedom she had left, rushing her into a train of silver, with extravagant luxuries presented, that did little to conceal the fact that she was nothing more than a pawn being led to her demise.
soon, the soft silk of the capitol dresses and the sparkly champagne were replaced with metal piercing her skin and blood covering her body, the admiration of the capitol crowd overshadowed by the pain of death.
( yet, death did not claim her. )
awakening to pristine white sheets, a ghost of a girl, destined to die at the hands of the capitol, is thrown into a world of enchanted snowflakes and frozen hearts, seeking shelter from the cruel promise of death.
there she met a boy with an angelic face, shadows dancing around his silhouette, his cruel words cutting like the icy winds of winter outside the church windows of his castle.
still, his sinister beauty did little to cover the darkness lingering in his eyes ━ eyes that were promising even darker intentions ━ intentions of moulding her like marble in his hands, turning a pawn into a weapon, the same hands wrapped around her throat, killing her after she fulfilled all of his wishes and adorning her pale corpse with flowers for the dead.
the beautiful manor was a prison ━ the little castle he had locked her in, the cage of glass he so carefully had crafted.
but kalia borcelane had learned not to be deceived by appearances, for true evil can be found within.

hello, lovelies!! i want to wish everyone a merry christmas ━ may all your wishes come true and may you feel lots of LOVE & PEACE & JOY during the holidays and throughout the last few days of the year!!
it's been a while since i was last active on wattpad ( as i had to take an unplanned hiatus due to mental health problems ) but i'm so happy to be back!!
watching the ballad of songbirds and snakes in the cinema, i have realized how much i missed my the hunger games universe ━ so this will be the first out of twenty new drafts about members of royal capitol families.
i will add some more graphics ( as well as more songs to the playlist ) in january ━ i had a terrible cold since early december, but i still wanted to post this story on christmas!!
this book is set during the first of the hunger games movies. it's from the point of view of one of my original characters whom i created for my book born to die ━ but since evermore is more of a spinoff, it can be read as a standalone. kalia borcelane is meant to be the girl from district three whom i have written based on her portrayal in the movie. i've also aged her up, so she is now sixteen at the start of this book.
now, some background information ━ so, when i first planned out born to die, i had this ( sort of ) original idea that some of the tributes are rescued by the capitol after they were fatefully injured in the arena, so they can serve as further ressources. it would fit in well with the canon storylines ━ the capitol's technology is pretty efficient and president snow is known for not wasting ressources, so some of the already fallen tributes can be restored back to health and then sold off to members of the capitol's elite for their own intentions. ( the districts as well as the common capitol citiziens don't know about this arrangement. )
i want to say beforehand, this is not a love story. ever and kalia might have some moments, but he's more interested in using her as a weapon for his own intentions, so it's kind of a toxic relationship.
this story is inspired by various sources, such as beauty and the beast, the tale of bluebeard, the movie crimson peak and the shatter me books by tahereh mafi ━ it's also influenced by countless poems and myths, so parallels can occur. last but not least, english is not my first language, so i don't know if there are any mistakes.
now, i want to wish everybody a wonderful evening ━ i hope your days are filled with love and cheer ━ merry christmas, happy holidays & a fantastic new year in advance!!
