Muspelheim
Thor had been granted by Odin for me to stay on Asgard, so long as we didn't stay long. He also really didn't want to see me. We were fine with those conditions. Though, we both couldn't help but find it curious. I never got to see Odin anyway as we only stayed one night each time we arrived. And from there we went on a journey through the realms.
The Mind Stone was safe on Earth, the Aether was with a man named the Collector. When we met him he was certainly a freaky man, who wanted to buy me. Thor and I quickly got out of there. The Space stone, or the Tesseract was safe on Asgard. The Power Stone was on Xander, a very different, but beautiful planet. Now the only two we couldn't seem to find was the Time Stone or the Soul Stone. We'd been searching for ages. And it felt like and we were no closer than when we started. It had been two almost three earth years for us that Thor and I had been searching together. Nearly five years total that we had been together.
Thor's beard had grown a bit longer and scruffier in our time searching the universe. His hair was longer. My brown hair had grown longer to. I felt more connected with myself than ever before and maybe that was to do with the frequented trips to Asgard. Though, it's been about a year since we last returned home. Thor has been being plagued by nightmares. They kept him up at night making him thrash around violently. I'd figured out how to use my power over the mind to help him sleep.
But soon they started effecting me too. Fire and Ash just like the vision once showed us. Asgard our home being sent up in smoke. At the center of them all was Surtur, the fire demon. We had switched our search from Infinity Stones to stopping the destruction of Asgard. Given his possible where about's we decided we were going to investigate and take him down.
"You're not coming with me." Thor stated firmly.
"Are you insane? I most definitely am coming with you. I'm not about to let you go fight a fire demon all by yourself." I scoffed with a smirk. "Where's the fun in that?"
"This is not fun, Amara." Thor sighed trying to hide his smile. "It's dangerous."
"It's not anymore dangerous than what we've been doing already." I said placing my hand on his stubbly cheek. Thor sighed and leaned into my touch.
"You hold my heart you know that?" He chuckled. "If you die, I don't know what I would do."
"Well, the same goes for you, my heart." I chuckled and our foreheads pushed together, taking each other in. "I love you. Are you ready to go get captured by fire demons?"
"And I love you. This shall be but another adventure." Thor nodded.
Thor quickly pecked my lips and we entered the fire demon territory. Just like we thought we were quickly surrounded. We put up a fake fight and easily got ourselves captured. They wrapped us in chains and tossed us down a hole near by. We crashed down to the bottom looking around to see nothing but cave walls. It was so hot down here, like what you would image hell felt like. We were stuck in there for what felt like days. It had to have been at least three by now. I felt the heat getting to me, it was like my brain was swimming.
"Now, I know what you're thinking. Oh no! Thor's and Amara are in a cage. How did this happen?" Thor sighed as he spoke to himself. I internally chuckled not wanting to interrupt his inner monologue. "Well, sometimes you have to get captured just to get a straight answer our of somebody. It's a long story, but basically I'm a bit of a hero. So is she." He nudged me and I chuckled. "See, we spent some time on earth, fought some robots, saved the planet a couple of times. Then we went searching through the cosmos for some magic, colorful Infinity Stone things. Didn't find any."
"Didn't find all of them." I pointed out interrupting him and he chuckled.
"Right, right. Didn't find all of them. That's when we came across a path of death and destruction which led me all the way here into this cage. Where we met you." Thor looked up at the skeleton that laid across from us inside the cage. It's mouth fell from it's body almost like it was gasping. Which would have normally been ironically funny but the cage started to creak.
"Hmm..." I said.
"How much longer do you think we'll be here?" Thor asked looking at me.
"Oh, I'd say. Till... Now." I stated feeling the vibrations of the cage.
It suddenly opened, dropping Thor and I down in our chains below. We both grunted loudly as the chains stopped us from hitting the ground. My back was touching his as we slowly spun in a circle looking around the giant cavernous room. The walls, floors, and ceilings are all made with molten rock, that had creepy glimmers of fire within them.
The giant creature in the corner of the room started chuckling. Thor was in front as he noticed him first. His voice deep and menacing. His body eighteen feet tall, skin glowed like fire ran within him, and his body was like a charred skeleton, with a giant face mask with horns.
"Thor, Son of Odin. And I see you have brought a precious gift with you. Amara, the Infinity Goddess." Sutur chuckled evilly.
"Surtur, son of... a bitch... You're still alive! I thought my father killed you, like, half a million years ago." Thor spoke happily.
"I cannot die. Not until I fulfill my destiny and lay waist to your home." Surtur explained with a bored tone.
"You know, it's funny you should mention that. Because we've been having these terrible dreams of late. Asgard up in flames, falling to ruins. And you, Surtur, are at the center of all of them." Thor explained.
"Then you have seen Ragnarok, the fall of Asgard. The great prophecy!..." Surtur said, but we were turning very slowly, revealing my face to him now.
"Hang on. Hang on." Thor sighed. "I'll be back around shortly. I really felt like we were connecting there."
"Well, hello." I said with a smile.
"Hello." Surtur said confused.
"So, I mean I'm apart of all of this too. I mean, future Queen of Asgard and all. So tell me Surtur, tell me about Ragnarok. Be a dear, and walk us through it."
"My time has come. When my crown is reunited with the eternal flame. I shall be restored to my full might. I will tower over the mountains and bury my sword deep in Asgard." Surtur exclaimed with a grumble in his voice, emanating powerful authority.
"Wow, sounds scary big guy. But hold that thought, Thor's coming round next." I said as the chain spun slowly still, creaking loudly. Thor wiggled his feet and faced Surtur this time.
"I swear we aren't even moving, it's just doing this on it's own. I'm really sorry." Thor apologized. "Okay, let me get this straight. You're going to put your crown into the Eternal flame, and then you'll suddenly grow as big as a house?"
"A mountain!" Surtur said enraged.
"Whoa, calm down big guy." I said.
"The Eternal Flame that Odin keeps locked away on Asgard?" Thor asked for clarification.
The giant fire demon grinned evilly.
"Odin is not on Asgard. And your absences have left the throne defenseless."
"Oh, boy." I grunted with a eye roll. Thor looked at Surtur concerned. "Okay, so where is this crown?" I asked curiously.
"This is my crown, the source of my power." He pointed to his face like mask.
"Oh, honey would you look at that. It's his big horns thing on his face." I chuckled.
"Oh, that's a crown? I thought it was a big eyebrow." Thor stated furrowing his eyebrows.
"It's a crown." Surtur stated firmly.
"Anyway, it sounds like all I have to do to stop Ragnarok is rip that thing off your head." Thor said. Surtur got up from his chair and chuckled.
"But Ragnarok has already begun." He walked towards us dragging his giant sword behind him. Surtur lifted the chain and making Thor face him. We could feel the intense heat radiating off from him. "Neither of you can stop it. I am Asgard's doom, and so are you! All will suffer, all will burn."
"Oh, that's intense. You know, to be honest, seeing you grow really big and set fire to a planet would be quite the spectacle. But it looks like I'm gonna have to choose option B. Where I bust us out of these chains, knock that tiara off your head, and stash it away in Asgard's vaults."
"You cannot stop Ragnarok. Why fight it?" Surtur growled.
I was working on melting the chains with my hands and Thor's hand opened signally for Mjolnir to come. I pressed a little harder with my hands making them heat up even more.
"Because that's what heroes do." Thor stated with a big smile. His smile quickly disappeared, disappointed that he didn't plan that right.
"It's okay, honey. Just a second." I whispered to him, trying not to laugh.
"Sorry, I didn't time that right." Thor apologized as Surtur looked at us both as though we were crazy.
I heard Mjolnir coming and I dropped to the ground from the chains. Sending a blast of purple light at Surtur. He staggered backwards and dropped Thor's chains as Mjolnir crashed through the wall.
"And now!" Thor smiled as Mjolnir landed in his hand. I jumped and grabbed his waist as Mjolnir flew us away from the fire demon as we had planned. We landed on the ground next to each other in fighting positions.
"You have made a grave mistake, Odinson." Surtur growled.
"I make grave mistakes all the time. Ask her." He gestured to me and I shrugged.
"He's not wrong. But everything always seems to work out." I smirked.
A loud growl caught both of our attention and a giant dragon appeared from the darkness. Along with other creatures appearing from the walls. Snarling and growling they ran at the pair of us. Thor started bashing them away, turning them to dust with his hammer and I used my power to destroy them. A group of fire demons ran and landed on top of Thor covering him, but he quickly pushed them off and away. I ran towards Thor, jumping and kicking the demons on my way through and made it to him. I wrapped my arms around his. Our energy combined and blasted them away from us.
The giant dragon roared, and stepped forward at us but it was attached to the wall by a chain. Surtur stumbled from our combined blast and pointed his sword at us. Thor stood in front of me, grabbing my waist and quickly turning Mjolnir. Fire blasted from the tip of the sword making it for one hot ride behind Mjolnir as we stood in place. Our feet began sliding backwards and Surtur laughed. Thor winked at me.
Enough of letting him have his fun. I let go of Thor and put my hands out in front of me, creating a massive shield forcing the fire blast back at the demon. There was a reason the realms knew me now. I smirked as he looked stunned after the blast. Thor grabbed my hand and we jumped into the air, combining energies hitting him with it. Surtur stumbled backwards and grunted in pain. I waved my hand and sent Thor up to a ledge behind Surtur. His attention followed him. My hands went out in front of me and purple energy surrounded his giant demon body holding him in place.
Thor jumped from the ledge conjuring up a blast of lightening and slamming the hammer down on his head. It knocked the crown off Surtur's body and to the ground, making him turn to fire and ash, disappearing from site. I ran and grabbed the crown as more of the demons started to peel themselves from the walls. Thor grabbed a chain and wrapped it around himself attaching the crown. He quickly grabbed my waist as we looked at the creatures around us. My braid whipped over my shoulder as I turned to look at Thor's handsome face and we smirked at each other. Ready to return home.
"Heimdall. I know it's been a while, but I could use a fast exit!" Thor said, lifting his hammer into the air, but nothing happened.
"Uh, Uncle?" I called out nervously as the creatures were advancing towards us.
Unbeknownst to us, Heimdall was not at his post, rather it was a man named Skurge and he was busy entertaining two woman inside the Bifrost helm.
Thor and I started to fight off the creatures one by one. Until the great Fire Dragon roared loudly again and crawled from it's cave. Breaking it's chain and heading straight for us.
"Oh, boy. This is a problem." I said as I noticed the dragon heading for us.
Thor quickly grabbed my waist again and swung the hammer around, sending us upwards in the air. I raised my hand and helped blast the rocks above us so we could get through back to the surface of the planet. We crashed through the surface onto the hot wasteland of the planets surface. We rolled away from each other along the ground. Thor quickly pat his cloak as the bottom was on fire. I checked my suit and I seemed relatively fine.
"Uncle, come on!" I shouted at the sky as I stood up on my feet. "Uncle?" I said and I got no reply. I worried slightly, specially after hearing Surtur's words about Odin not being on Asgard.
The ground beneath us started to shake and rumble. Both of us planted our feet firmly on the ground and watched as the fire demon dragon emerged from the ground, roaring loudly. It's large snout came straight at me, pushing me backwards as I held out my hands, drawing energy to hold it's jaws open from eating me. Thor jumped up beside me and quickly dropped Mjolnir inside it's mouth, making the monster whine as it fell to the ground.
"Stay!" Thor pointed at it like it had much of a choice. Quickly grabbing me and pulling me away from it. "Are you hurt?" He asked quickly.
"No! But I can't get through to my Uncle. I fear what has happened to him." I said worriedly.
"Heimdall!" Thor boomed at the sky. "We are running short on options! Heimdall!" He screamed.
At the Bifrost the women sitting on the steps could hear our voices coming through the Bifrost key.
"Um, Skurge? Is that important?" One of the ladies asked as he was much to busy with a shake weight.
He stopped for a moment and looked around for Heimdall's sword and key to the Bifrost. Skurge pulled it out and ran to the center of the room.
"You girls are in for a real treat." He said excitedly, ready to show off. Skurge placed the sword in it's slot and turned it.
Back on the fire demon planet, Muspelheim, fire demons started to appear all around us. Thor and I both started running from the dragon. He grabbed my waist as he lifted his hand calling Mjolnir to it. As soon as it landed in his hands we were pulled off the ground flying away from the dragon that quickly got to it's feet and started to fly after us. It gained closer and closer opening it's jaws, ready to chop down and eat us both. I held tightly to Thor and shut my eyes ready for our demise but it didn't come.
I opened them to see a flash of familiar light surround us, the rainbow bridge tunnel and space just on the other side. As quick as a blink we were inside the Bifrost. Thor and I slid backwards as he tried to slow us down. The giant head of the dragon appeared through the Bifrost portal, getting cut off and sending it's nasty guts everywhere. Covering the two women and Skurge. The head slid across the floor slowly, until it hit the bottom steps of the Bifrost center. They screamed and ran from the Bifrost in fright.
Thor and I staggered to get to our feet, completely clean.
"Girls!" An unfamiliar voice cried out after them. We watched them run by us and we turned and looked confused towards the man who was wiping the guts off himself and asking towards us. "Well, well, well. Look who decided to pop in. Thanks for scaring away my company and drenching the workplace in brains."
"And who are you supposed to be? Where is my Uncle?" I narrowed my eyes at the strange man as I stepped out farther from behind Thor.
"Aren't you a beauty." He eye'd me up and down. Thor raised his hammer and pointed it at him.
"Answer her question." Thor growled.
"You don't remember? I'm Skurge." He said and Thor just stood still showing no signs of remembrance. "We fought together on Vanaheim."
"Right. Where is Heimdall?" Thor asked.
"That traitor. Well, no one knows. He's a fugitive of the throne." Skurge explained.
"Traitor?" I said confused.
"Yeah. Well, Beauty, you see Odin charged Heimdall with negligence of duty. But, he disappeared before the trial. Hard to catch a guy who can see everything in the universe."
"Stop calling me that. My name is Amara." I rolled my eyes and walked away from the man and Thor followed.
"Hold on. I'm supposed to announce your arrival." Skurge said.
Thor grabbed my waist and swung his hammer sending us down the rainbow bridge.
"Oh, I missed it here." I breathed deeply as we soared above the city.
"Welcome home, Amara." Thor smirked and kissed my forehead.
