I think I read somewhere that the only reason Sparrow helps Duchess ruin Huntlynn is because he has a crush on Ashlynn.
I'm not sure if that's 100% true, but honestly, it makes a WHOLE lot of sense. In Ashlynn's diary he kissed her hand, but then again he tries to flirt with every girl.

So it's kinda cool to imagine them being occupied with their own desires and then kinda realize each other and then forget about everything. Like Duchess is so focused about stealing Ashlynn's destiny and then Sparrow just wants Ashlynn, so they agree to become partners in crime. But then over time they realize each other and are like
