Thronecoming Week Starts
You were sound asleep when your door swung open. You didn't wake up right away, but when the clicking of tin on your floor got closer, you began to stir. Then....
Candace: Ozzie!
Candace suddenly jumped on you which immediately woke you up. She began to smack you with your pillow as Betina and Reggie watched.
Y/N: Ah! Ah! Stop!
Candace did eventually stop, but she was ready to give you another hit.
You sat up and looked at the three who seemed to have been wide awake despite the fact that Dutchess' pet hasn't.....
HONK!
There it was.
Y/N: What are you girls doing here? And why did you have to wake me up?
Betina pulled out her MirrorPhone and showed you the clip from Blondie's MirrorCast. It was the one from yesterday where you told her that you were going to be the baddest student in General Villainy.
Betina: What's this all about? You're not a villain.
Y/N: Yeah. I know.
Reggie: Then why is you in General Villainy?
Y/N: Mr. Badwolf wanted me in his class. I had a free hour and he likes me so I figured I'd go for it.
Candace: Sounds scary.
Candace hid behind Reggie while Betina walked over to your bed. She placed her hands on her hips and stared at you. She looked even closer.
Betina: Did you get a hair cut?
You ran a hand through your now shorter hair and grinned.
Y/N: Yeah. You like it?
The girls really stopped and looked closer. Reggie was the first to notice the subtle green streak among the H/C.
Reggie: I like it!
Candace: Looks good.
Betina stayed silent. Finally, she sighed and shook her head.
Betina: I swear. You move here and you're suddenly Mr. Popular. Remember that you're still an Ozzian. Our leader.
Y/N: I know. But Oz isn't going anywhere. Literally. We can take the time to sit back and enjoy our lives a bit.
Betina crossed her arms. It looked like she wanted to say something, but she resisted the urge and instead turned on her heels and headed back towards your door.
Betina: Whatever.
She left without another word. You turned to Reggie and Candice, the three of you clearly confused by what was wrong.
Welcome back, Readers. Today I will tell you a tale of a most special event. Thronecoming.
A school holiday where Ever After High presents their fairy tale students at their best. And it all starts with the Thronecoming Parade.
You, Ruby, Reggie, and Candace watched as the many floats created by your friends passed by. Everyone cheered and waved at the students. Headmaster Grimm had asked you to make one as well, but you declined since you didn't feel like you had the time.
Regardless, you enjoyed watching your friends have fun.
Ruby: Man, I can't wait until I'm a second year. My float is gonna be so cool!
Reggie nudged you.
Reggie: Maybe she should've done yours.
You both laughed.
But Thronecoming wasn't just about the parade floats. Nope! It was also about the big BookBall game, to which Daring was the team captain. And since the two of you were kinda cool now, you had plans to go and watch and cheer your boys on.
Daring pointed at two girls in the crowd.
Daring: Charm you later.
He winked at them which caused them to faint. You just rolled your eyes.
But there was also another big event. The Thronecoming dance. Where a king and queen will be crowned.
Ever After High does have a spell's worth of students who fit that slipper.
Speaking of which, you decided it was time to head back to school. Morning classes were canceled so students could attend the parade, but afternoon classes were still in effect.
It wasn't long before Dexter had found you and began explaining everything to you.
Dexter: Voting this year is going to be on the MirrorNet. Me and Humphrey are in charge of it.
Y/N: Really? So people just cast their voted online? Seems convenient.
Dexter: That's what we're hoping for. Actually, your name was in the ballots.
It was? You didn't remember ever nominating yourself for it. It was a bit odd, but who cares? It was just a vote that'll have no effect on the outcome of your life.
Right?
You and Dexter parted ways as you reached your locker. You opened it and began to get your books. However, when you heard a familiar voice, you stopped and looked over to see Apple approaching Raven.
Apple: Hey, Raven.
Raven stopped what she was doing and looked over to the future Snow White.
Apple: I already voted online for Thronecoming Queen. And, I picked you.
She showed Raven her MirrorPad to show that she did, in fact, chose Raven.
Raven: Really? Why did you vote for me?
Apple: I always win these things. And, well, you technically come from a long line of queens.
Raven: Thanks. I'm really glad you're turning the page. I mean, I'm the daughter of the Evil Queen and a Rebel, but that doesn't mean I'm trouble.
Suddenly, the intercom flicked onto life.
Intercom: Raven Queen, please report to the Headmaster's Office at once.
That can't be good.
Intercom: You to, Y/N Ozymandias.
Dang it.
---------------
You and Raven sat next to each other across from Headmaster Grimm. Or, you would usually be doing so. Instead, he sat on his desk with his hands folded on his lap. He seemed tense, but he also seemed like he was trying his best to make the mood of the room relaxed.
It wasn't working, but he was trying.
Beside him was his secretary, Mrs. Trollsworth, who was a shorter woman who was also, well, a troll.
Mr. Grimm: Can we get you two something? Dragon Egg omelet?
Raven: No. I'm good.
Y/N: I think I'll also have to decline.
Mr. Grimm: Mrs. Trollsworth, two dragon Egg omelets.
Mrs. Trollsworth nodded and left the room. Mr. Grimm then went back to relaxing.
Mr. Grimm: So, Ms. Queen, how is your Thronecoming float going, mh?
Raven looked at you. You just shrugged.
Raven: It's going good.
Mr. Grimm: Delightful, my dear. And I understand that you decided to not do one, Mr. Ozymandias.
You shook your head. You then looked past him to see a dragon's nest with eggs out the window. Mrs. Trollsworth climbed up the tree. That didn’t look safe.
Raven: Can I ask you something?
Mr. Grimm: Of course.
Raven: Why are you being nice to me? Ever since I didn't sign the Storybook of Legends on Legacy Day, I always thought that you, well, that you saw me as trouble.
Mr. Grimm laughed while you watched Mrs. Trollsworth try to steal two eggs from the sleeping dragon.
Mr. Grimm: You? A trouble maker? Of course not.
Y/N: Uh, I think Mrs. Trollsworth just fell out of the dragon's nest.
Mr. Grimm: But, funny you should mention Legacy Day.
Y/N: Your secretary....whatever.
Mr. Grimm: As you know, Thronecoming is one of the few days a year the Storybook of Legends is removed from it's protective case and displayed for the public.
You looked over to the book itself. You never actually got around to signing it yourself. You never even got to see your key.
Mr. Grimm: And it's a perfect time for you to reconsider and sign in front of the whole world.
Raven narrowed her eyes before she waved off his suggestion.
Raven: I'm sorry, Headmaster, but I made my choice on Legacy Day. I want to write my own destiny. Not follow in the footsteps of my mother.
Mr. Grimm did not like that. But you did admire Raven for sticking to her guns. You knew it couldn't have been easy, but she was determined.
Raven: Now, if there's nothing else, I'll be going.
Raven got up and left the room right when Mrs. Trollsworth returned with the two dragon eggs.
Mrs. Trollsworth: Would you like this boiled or fried?
The egg suddenly cracked open and a baby dragon emerged. It immediately spat fire into Mrs. Trollsworth's face.
You decided not to eat it.
Y/N: Uh, can I go? I kinda don't like it here and I feel like I'm not really needed.
Mr. Grimm: Mr. Ozymandias, you are my last hope.
Y/N: Oh no.
Mr. Grimm: Raven doesn't understand. We must stay true to the stories.
Mr Grimm looked at a framed photo on his desk. You looked as well to see it was an old photo of him and what appeared to be Gildes Grimm as children.
Mr. Grimm: I need you to convince her to sign the Storybook of...
He looked up, only to find that you were already gone. He looked around but found no trace of you anywhere.
Mr. Grimm: Y/N? Hello?
----------------
Ruby ended up helping with setting up the Thronecoming dance in the Grimmnasium with the students who weren't busy with the floats. Mostly helping with hanging up banners and using Tiny, the giant, to connect some lights.
She dropped down and walked over to Blondie who was bring in food for everyone to eat while they worked.
Blondie: Who wanted pizza? I sampled a slice and it was just right.
Poppy and Holly dropped down from where they were hanging lights and looked at the freshly made pizza. Cerise also appeared.
Cerise: Oh. Meat lovers pizza.
She took a slice and placed it in her mouth. She held it with her teeth and looked at the other girls for a moment. She then growled and took the entire pizza box.
Holly: Oh, look! Our fairytale princess are talking strategy for the big game. Don't you just love it when they go all heroic?
But, in actuality, they weren’t.
Dexter: We're never gonna beat Beanstalk High at BookBall.
Daring: Oh, little brother. Don't be such a worrier. How tough can it be to beat a bunch of little beans? Huh?
Hunter: Beanstalk High is filled with giants, Daring. Not beans.
Daring: Well, then we are in a lot of trouble, aren't we? Haha.
Sparrow: They're gonna kick our tails, yeah!
Yep. They were screwed.
But, not all is lost! Their savior comes from the darkness itself to reveal their saving grace!
Cerise: Hey, guys.
The boys looked to Cerise as she walked towards them with her half eaten pizza.
Cerise: I was thinking, maybe I should try out for the BookBall team. I'm wicked fast.
Dexter, Daring, and Hunter smiled.
Dexter: Well, that sounds good...
Sparrow: But you're a girl, oh!
Cerise closed her pizza box, preventing Daring from getting a slice, before she turned to Sparrow.
Cerise: So? What does that have to do with anything?
Daring: Sorry, Cerise. Damsels are for saving. Not playing Fairy Tale back.
Cerise growled under her breath and turned away. She walked away, gripping her pizza box dvdn tighter.
Cerise: Boys!
The four watched her, Dexter and Hunter sharing a look of knowing. They had seen Cerise first hand and what she can do. You had even seen her at her height during the basket run.
They were definitely missing out.
Ruby watched as Cerise dumped the pizza box into the trash.
Ruby: Hm. I wanted a slice.
Apple: Ruby. Hey, over here.
Ruby looked over to Apple to see her waving her over. Ruby made her way to Apple's float where she was trying to hang an apple on the tree.
Apple: Do you think you could help?
Ruby: Of course!
Ruby hopped onto the float and Apple handed her the plastic fruit. Apple then lifted her up so that Ruby could properly place it onto the branch.
Raven: Nice float, Apple. It's totally off the page.
Apple set Ruby down and giggled.
Apple: Thanks, Raven. It's got the apple tree that you posion me from.
She then looked at Raven.
Apple: Or, um, might poison me from.
Raven: Apple....
Apple: Oh, it's okay, Raven. You'll come around. I just know it.
Ruby: Here we go.
You sister just took a seat, already knowing what was coming.
Raven: 'Come around?' I've tried to explain this to you every way I know how. I want to write my own destiny. And to be honest, when it comes to this, I think you're being selfish.
Everyone who was listening gasped. Ruby even snapped her fingers. Apple was taken back by her sudden comment. Like a knife in the kidney.
Apple: You.....you think I'm being selfish?
Raven: All you care about is your own happily ever after..
Cedar: Where's Y/N? Someone get Y/N!
Apple narrowed her eyes and grabbed her basket of fruits.
Apple: You know, because of you didn't sign the book, all of our stories could go poof. We can all go poof.
Ruby could hear the fear in her voice. Not of her not getting her happy ending, but of what might happen if what Headmaster Grimm said was true. The fear of actually disappearing.
Raven: Yeah, but we didn't.
Apple: Yet.
Apple got off her float and now stood at eye level with Raven.
Apple: Raven, I don't want you to sign the book for me. I want you to sign it so that nothing bad happens to the people that I love. Including you.
She gave Raven and apple.
Apple: If you ask me, you're the one being selfish.
Apple turned away and left. Raven just stood there, staring at the apple in her hand. She never thought about it that way before.
--------------
Ashlynn: Could you check on Brair? I haven't seen her since this morning.
That was the hext that Ashlynn sent you out of the blue. Which was weird cause the two of you only really hexted each other when it came to homework or something like it.
Of course your first thought was that Briar had fallen asleep somewhere, but no one had seen her. So, you went to the one place no one would've looked.
Her room.
You knocked but got no reply. After waiting for a moment, you opened the door and peeked inside.
Y/N: Briar?
Brair: Mh uh huh.
Sure enough, she was asleep on her bed. You sighed and entered the room, turning the lights on as you did. You walked over to her bed where she was out cold.
Y/N: Briar? Briar!
You began to gently shake her, but she didn't budge. You sighed before you looked over to her clock. You grabbed it and held it next to her. The clock looked at her, got mad, and then screamed.
Clock: GET! UP!
Briar shot up, eyes wide open and now fully awake. She looked around, her glasses haven dropped to her face. They were crooked so only one of her eyes was covered while the other was bloodshot.
Brair: Oh no. How long was I asleep?
You shrugged.
Y/N: Ashlynn said you missed float building.
Briar: But, that's one of the best parties of the year?
It was? Well, even if it wasn't, it was clear that she was actually pretty upset over missing it. You reached out and placed a hand on her lap, trying to cheer her up.
Y/N: Hey, it's okay...
Briar: It’s not okay!
She suddenly stood up and begannto pace the room.
Briar: Is this what it's gonna be like when I go to sleep for 100 years? I'm gonna miss out on all the fun. And...and my friends.
You stood up and grabbed her shoulders.
Y/N: Briar, I know how you feel. I know that you're scared. But, you don't have to be.
You sighed.
Y/N: You haven't signed the Storybook of Legends.
Briar looked at you like you were insane. She pulled away, confirming your suspicions.
Briar: Y/N....
Y/N: I know. I know. But, you won't be the first to question your destiny.
Briar: Are you saying I shouldn't sign? T-That I should...rebel?
Y/N: I'm just saying that there are other options out there. And you're not alone if you chose not to.
Briar thought about it. Then, she looked back at you.
Briar: What about you? You didn't sign either.
You shook your head. You honestly didn't care for the Storybook itself or the rules. Your story was already off script thanks to the Fall of Oz. You also didn't believe a thing Headmaster Grimm said.
You trusted his brother more...and he only speaks Riddlish!
Briar: I just don't know what to do. Either way....I'm scared.
You frowned as Briar held herself. You didn't know what to say to cheer or up or to ease her worries. You were just as clueless as she was.
And who knew what could happen between now and then? You were playing with destiny every single day. And it was only a matter of time before it had enough.
The End Is Just The Beginning.....
