Thronecoming Is Upon Us

The big day has finally arrived the Thronecoming Bookball championship!

But you found yourself not truly caring about it. Or about your Thronework assignment for Mr. Badwolf. Instead, you thoughts were occupied by the looming threat of the missing Storybook of Legends. You didn't even eat breakfast at the Castleteria.

You spent your morning sitting in the roof of the boy's dormitory. Your gaze fell upon the students heading to the BookBall game since classes had been excused for the day. This also gave you the perfect opportunity to slip away with no one noticing.

Ruby and the others would be at the game. But you were planning in meeting the girls down in the Heritage Hall to start your search for the book.

You looked at your sword handle and nodded to yourself. Then, you slipped down the roof and back into your room.

Down at the game, Raven looked around to make sure everyone was preoccupied with the game.

Raven: Okay, now is perfect time to go looking for the book.

Maddie: Wait a spell. Let's grab Cedar! Those truth telling glasses will let us know if we find the real dealio!

Raven agreed that it was a good plan. She reached down and got Cedar's attention. She gestured for her to follow which she did. However, when they were leaving, they made the unknowing mistake of passing Briar and Ashlynn.

Ashlynn: Where are they going?

Briar: I don't know.

She grabbed Ashlynn's wrist and pulled her along.

Y/N: So, you think that the real Storybook of Legends is hidden in here?

You all walked into the Heritage Hall where the large version of the Storybook of Legends was.

Maddie: It's where the clue leads.

She pulled out the notes that she took from Gildes and read aloud.

Maddie: 'Where the stories of the past come alive, revive, and thrive!'

Y/N: Yeah. That sounds about right. You got anything, Cedar?

Cedar stepped forward and put her glasses on. It took a second, but the blue fairy began to point at the large book.

Cedar: I think the Storybook of Legends is, eh, in the Storybook of Legends.

You face palmed. Of course it was.

You all approached the large book to investigate. Surely there should be a clue as to how to activate it.

It wasn't long before you were trying to pray it open with your sword to no effect.

Y/N: Come...on....you....stupid....book!

It was no use. You pulled your sword out and retacted the blade.

Apple: It's no use. It won't budge.

Raven: So what do we do?

Blondie: How about I give it a try?

You all looked to your lefts to see Blondie standing there with a smile. How did she even sneak up on all of you?

Maddie: Blonide!

Y/N: How long have you been standing there?

Apple: Were you spying on us?

Blondie: A good reporter always knows where the story is. And if it's a lock you need to get pass, well..we'll...

She pulled out a pin from her hair and fashioned it into a key. She then walked over to the lock and began to pick it with ease. The book activated and she stepped back to join the group.

Raven: Wicked.

She approached the book and looked at the glowing mirror on the front. Purple magic clouded the otherside, hiding what was underneath.

Raven: I wonder if we...

Briar: Raven!

You all turned around to find Briar and Ashlynn standing there.

Raven: Okay, did everyone and their fairy godmother follow us here?

Y/N: I know. I'm surpised the whole school isn't here.

Cupid: To be fair, I didn't follow you. I just got bored at the game so I thought I'd come check this place out.

You all looked up to see Cupid sitting the book. You sighed, dissapointed that you were now stuck with these people.

Cupid: What are you all doing here?

Apple: We're trying to find the real Storybook of Legends. So Raven can sign.

Briar: I'm sorry, but I can't let you do that.

Y/N: Briar?

Briar: If you find the real book, then that means I'm going to loose you all!

Everyone went to comfort Briar, but you and Raven looked at each other. You both nodded. You needed to find that book. So, you both ran and took a leap of faith into the mirror.

You both vanished into the book which left the girls stunned. The feeling was like passing through several layers of jelly before you suddenly emerged on the otherside. Everyone soon followed, Briar and Ashlynn being the last two.

You all found yourselves surrounded by 8 large books, about the side of a cottage each, and an endless red abyss. The wind seemed to not even move, not even a breeze, and every sound made echoed back to you like a ringing bell.

Pages from stories fell like leaves all around you and the floor was littered with them.

Cupid: Whoa, what is this place?

Cedar: Look at all the writing.

Apple: I think we're inside the book.

That seemed about right. You looked around, feeling a sense of unease in your bones. Was something out there watching you?

Raven: Maddie, are there anymore clues?

Maddie read the list of clues.

Maddie: 'A chapter for all to live and survive, with a page of the answer and come out alive!'

Y/N: That sounds ominous.

Maddie: The books. There are 8 books!

Briar: But there's 9 of us. One of us doesn't have a book here.

You all looked at each other. You suddenly realized that it was your story that was missing. Your ring! It was stopping the magic from effecting you.

Cedar: How do we know which story is ours?

Raven: We don't.

Briar: Guess there's no going back.

You!

You all jumped at the booming voice. The ground began to shake as something dangerous began to approach your group. Soon, a dark red mist emerged from the abyss, a dark looking shadow with blood red eyes in the distance.

You shouldn't be here. None of you should be here!

You pulled out your handle and activated your sword. You held it as the girls backed away.

Y/N: Go! Get the pages! I'll hold it off!

Briar: But...

Y/N: Just go! We don't have time!

You will pay for what you've done!

The girls all picked a random book and entered them, one by one. You took a step back and fixed your stance as the dark figure continued to emerge from the mist.

However, when it did, your eyes grew wide.

Surpised, brother?
---------------
Cedar sat at a wooden picnic table with three bowls of porridge in front of her. One was too cold. One was too hot. But one was just right.

Cedar: Three bowls of porridge? Well, I'm in Blondie's story.

The cottage behind her had the candles lit and the woods around her was dark and misty. The smell of pine was in the air, though she could not smell it.

But she could hear the low growl coming from a nearby bush.

Cedar: Uh oh. Bears!

She ran as fast as she could as three large grizzly bears began to chase after her. Their appetites only growing to taste something. Their bellies empty and their sleep nonexistent.

They will make this girl pay for coming into their home unannounced and for eating all their food!
----------
Raven stood on the edge of a cliff where dark clouds hung overhead. Light shined through cracks to reveal an apple tree. A single red apple hung from it's branch.

Raven: Oh no. I'm in Apple's story!

A hand suddenly plucked the apple from the branch. It belonged to that of an old woman, covered in shadows and darkness.

Evil Queen: Eat, my dear. Eat.

She began to close in on Raven, who tried to back away. She nearly slipped off the edge of the seemingly endless cliff and into the darkness below.

Evil Queen: Eat. It is your destiny. Hahaha!
-------------
Hahahaha!

You swung your sword to the shadow entity but it hit nothing. Instead, it reformed behind you, casting a spell that clipped your shoulder and made you turn around.

What's wrong? You can't fight without my magic?

Y/N: I don't need your magic. How are you even here?!

Tsk tsk. Always asking the wrong questions. Typical of you, little runt.

It attacked you again, but you rolled out of the way. You swung your sword again, but it vanished once more. You gripped your sword tightly and remained alert for the next attack.

Tell me something, brother. Have you really lost sight of your goal? Did you truly forget why you came here in the first place?

You gritted your teeth. You lifted your sword just as you heard it manifest behind you. You turned around to attack, but you were instead thrown back.

You wear that ring and resist your true destiny. Now, the Storybook of Legends will make you suffer.

You groaned as you stood back up.
-----------
Ashlynn opened her eyes, but something wasn't right.

Ashlynn: Why do I feel...

She noticed string attached to her arms, keeping her upright. She plucked it before she realized she didn't feel it. She didn't feel anything.

She gasped when she realized she was in Cedar's story, and she was now a puppet. Made of wood and painted.

Ashylnn: Oh no!
-----------
Cupid ran down the steps, scared of the incoming time. She didn't know why, but she did. However, when she reached the bottom, she realized something was missing.

Her shoe!

Cupid: I'm in Ashlynn's story!

She then cheered.

Cupid: Score!

But then the clock struck midnight and her carriage vanished.

Cupid: Uh oh.
------------
TEA CUPS AND FUN TIMES!

THE HARES SING AND CROAK WHILE THE BIRDS SWAM AND BUBBLED!

CARDS SING AMD DANCE WHILE THE QUEEN WEARS NO PANTS!

CLOCKS SHOW YOU WHERE TO GO AND MAPS TELL YOU WHEN IT WILL SNOW!

Blondie: I'm in Maddie's story!

PICKED MUSHROOMS TELL TALES OF DEAD MEN!

OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!

Blondie: This is mad!
------------
The mountains of Olympus was where we find Maddie herself holding a bow and arrow. She examined it before she smiled.

Maddie: I'm Cupid! Ooooo! I bet I'm supposed to make those bunnies fall in love!

She pulled back and sent the arrow flying. However, it hit the male bunnies' head which made him turn around and yell at the female.

Maddie: Or maybe not.
---------------
Briar couldn't see anything. She looked around the darkness before a spotlight suddenly shined down upon her. Bats flew out from nowhere and Briar found herself staring at a mirror.

Briar: Am I....

The mirror suddenly activated, scaring her.

Mirror: It worked, my queen. The posion worked. Now you are the fairest of them all.

Another light activated behind her, revealing Apple White in a glass coffin.  Briar walked over and touched the glass.

Briar: I did that? Oh no.
------------
Apple sat at a spinning wheel.

Apple: A spinning wheel? A castle tower? That must mean I'm in Briar's story.

She laughed awkwardly.

Apple: Well, as long as I don't Ow!

She suddenly found her finger poked by the spinning needle. She looked at it as blood began to appear from the wound.

Apple: No. No!

Vines beganbto grow from the outside and roses formed around her. She began to lose consciousness before she fell back.

The sleeping spell had taken her.
--------------
You stabbed your sword into the ground and sighed.

Getting tired?

Y/N: Silence!

Oh? Or what? You'll lock me away in my own body again?

You caught your breath before the shadow fully emerged in front of you. You looked up to see that it had taken shape.

The shape, of you.

You died, so I had to pay the price. I wasn't mad, at first. Honest. But you have done quite a bit to finally tick me off!

He began to circle you. You tried to push yourself up, but you dropped back to your knee, injured.

Do they know? That the body you have isn't really yours. That you are nothing more than a lost soul claiming it?

Y/N: Shut up.

Do they know the true reason why we decided to come to this school? To find what rightfully belongs to us?!

Y/N: Shut up!

His face was suddenly right in front of yours. His hand slowly moved around your head, never touching it, but threatingly ready to attack.

You got soft. You've been slipping. Mr. Badwolf was right to put you in his class. You needed a reminder of what you really are.

His hand suddenly seized your throat. He lifted you up off the ground. You struggled to escape, but you couldn't.

Fight it all you want. We both know the truth. In the end, we'll burn this entire kingdom to the ground. Those relationships you have won't last.

You gasped for air while your brother smiled softly.

You are still my brother, so I will be kind to you. You want your happy school life, then I shall allow it. But know, I will be here. I'll always be here.

Y/N: Ahhhhh!

Your hand became coated with green flames. The entity's smile faded as your sword appeared in your hand. With it, you were finally able to slice his hand and free yourself.

The entity vanished while you were left on the ground, gasping. Your ring laid beside you.
------------
Cedar hid upstairs in the bears' house as they closed in. She covered her head, but opened her eyes to see something on the floor. It was a page of the Storybook of Legends!

Cedar: The page!

She hurried and grabbed it. The bears let out a mighty roar, but she was already back to the center where you were still coughing.

Cedar: I made it!

She then noticed you. Her cheer turned into panic.

Cedar: And Y/N is dying!

She ran over to you as Maddie suddenly reappeared with her page as well. As Cedar helped you up, you both looked at her.

Cedar: Are you okay?

Maddie: Oh, yeah. But whoo! Cupid's job is not just all hearts and kisses.

Blondie also reappeared.

Blondie: Not my head!

She opened her eyes when she realized that the sounds of card soldiers had stopped. She looked around before she let out a sigh of relief.

Blondie: I do not ever want to go home with you on break.

Maddie just hugged her. At the same time, Ashlynn and Cupid reappeared next to each other. That just left Briar, Raven, and Apple.

Raven: Ah!

Raven dropped to the floor, clearly scared and confused. She looked at the page and held it up.

Raven: I got it!

Then, Brair appeared.

Y/N: Bri-ack!

You coughed before you wheezed for air.

Briar: Y/N!

She ran over to you as Cedar set you down in an upright position. You gently hit your chest before you looked to Briar.

Y/N: You okay?

Briar smiled. She then turned to Raven.

Briar: Raven, I had no idea.

Raven smiled, just glad that her friend was safe.

Blondie: Wait a spell. Where's Apple?

You all looked around. Apple hasn't come back yet. You then looked to Briar's book.

Y/N: Oh no.

Briar: If she has my story, and she fell asleep....she won't be able to find her page! I have to help her!

Y/N: Briar, you can't. It's too dangerous.

Briar: I have to! She's my best friend!

She ran into her story without another word. You tried to get up to follow her, but the pressure of the fight still weighted heavy on you.

Cedar: Y/N, sit this one out. You're in no condition to do anything.

Raven: Wait, what happened to the entity?

Y/N: I beat it. Barely.

Still, you felt weak. Maybe it was because you had used too much of your power in one go.

Just then, a bright light appeared in the center and Briar and Apple reappeared.

Briar: Apple. Apple, wake up!

Apple's eyes fluttered open with everyone watching. She sat up and rubbed her head.

Apple: Briar? You...you saved me.

Briar smiled.

Briar: Of course. You're my best friend.

Apple: Forever After.

And so, with all of the pages collected, you all began to glow. As you returned to the real world, you looked out into the abyss.

It wasn't long before you had all returned to Gildes with the pages of the book. Briar and Cedar kept you steady as you regained your strength. Gildes allowed the pages to float into the air, combining them into....a stone slabs?

Raven: That doesn't look like the Storybook of Legends.

Y/N: No, it does not.

Raven grabbed it and you all huddled around her.

Ashlynn: What does it say?

Raven: 'Speech return, words you say. Break this curse, for our new day!'

You all looked around confused.

Briar: Nothing happened.

Gildes: But it did!

You all looked over to Gildes.

Gildes: You retrieved the pages so you could break my curse.

Maddie: He said we retrieve the pages....gasp! Gildes! You can talk! Like, everyone can understand you talk!

She hugged her friend.

Gildes: Yes, Madeline. And for that, I thank you. All of you. It took extraordinary courage for you to face those challenges. You are all a credit to to your stories.

Apple: But, Mr. Grimm, if we weren't seraching for the Storybook of Legends, do you know where it is?

Gildes: No, but I know who took it!

Y/N: Who?

Gildes looked at you all, before his eyes fell upon Raven.

Gildes: The Evil Queen.

Raven: My mother?

Y/N: She stole the Storybook of Legends.

Gildes: I cannot tell you why, but I can tell you this.

He gestured to his mirror which showed footage of the night the Evil Queen took the book.

Gildes: She took the book to try and expand beyond her story and bring evil to all the land. And my brother and I, we stopped her.

You watched as the image faded away. But, you smiled regardless.

Cedar: Well, now your curse is lifted.

Gildes: Indeed it is. Thanks to you hextraordinary girls and boy.

Y/N: Happy to help.

Gildes: Now, Thronecoming is upon us! Best not be late.

Y/N: Will you be attending, Mr. Grimm?

Gildes rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

Gildes: Well, I haven't been to a party in ages. I wouldn't even know what to wear.

Apple: Let us, handle that.

The girls all giggled and began to lead Gildes out of the underground dwellings. The only ones left were you and Briar.

You looked over to her to see that she was uneasy about everything still. You thought about something before you decided to go through with it.

Y/N: Hey, Briar?

Briar looked to you.

Y/N: I, uh, still don't have a date to Thronecoming. I was wondering if, maybe, you would like to go with me?

Briar's mood suddenly lit up. She began to smile with rosey cheeks.

Briar: For real? Totally! I-I mean, yeah. I would love to.

Y/N: Nice. I guess, I'll see you there?

Briar: Definitely.

And with that, the two of you left the dwelling together. Plans for Thronecoming officially settled. Looks like everything worked out for the better in the end.
