The Boulevard
You tapped your foot against the wall you sat ontop of. The entire campus of Ever After High was in your view. You could even see most of Book End. All of it was right there, right in front of you.
You wanted to just cast a spell and wipe it all away in a wave of emerald fire, but you couldn't. You didn't have the power to do it. It was why you made a pact with the Evil Queen.
You heard laughter down below causing you to look. Everyone was off in their own small groups talking and laughing and enjoying their day. Seeing them like this made your blood boil.
You narrowed your eyes.
Blondie: The hot scoop today is the sudden actions taken by none other than Lizzie Hearts at the Multi-Hex Theater.
You looked over at your MirrorPhone to see that Blondie's MirrorCast was playing. Her voice honestly made your ears ring. It was too bubbley and she talked about things in such a way that it was somehow annoying.
The footage showed Lizzie pouring her drink on you. You didn't care that she did it. Actually, you were very happy that she did. She was mad at you. Furious. She felt betrayed. She wouldn't trust you now.
Blondie: Do we have ourselves a lover's quarrel? A forbidden love between an Ozzian and a Wonderlandian? Tune in as we try to unwrap this mystery!
Ruby frowned and lowered her phone. She was beyond baffled. This wasn't like you. Running around and messing around with girls? You were even the one who told her to focus on school instead of "cute boys". Seriously! Look back at the first chapter of Ever After High.
And you and Lizzie were friends. Why would she just randomly do something like that? And she looked so upset when she saw her earlier. She wasn't her usual self, yelling at people to get out of her way and playing croquet.
She walked with her head down and the heart around her eye seemed faded, as if she hasn't cared to reapply it. Her hair was also messy. She seemed tired.
What did you do to her?
Ruby didn't know, but she did know that this wasn't like you. You would be going out of your way to see what was wrong with Lizzie. To help your friend.
Yet, you were no where to be found.
What was wrong with you?
Cerise: I'm just saying, we have vegetarian days in the Castleteria. We should have meat days!
Apple and Maddie looked at Cerise from their seats. They were holding a suggestion meeting for the student body. Of course, you sat off on the side ontop of a desk. You were scrolling through your MirrorPhone while only half listening.
These brats had such trivial things to complain about. Their privileged lives have made them too soft. It was annoying.
But, Apple asked you to be here to offer some suggestions when you had any.
Briar: You look very entertained.
You kept a sigh in when Briar sat next to you. She was yet another problem that you had grown attached to. Being trapped into your head for the last 10 years, Oswalt has come to know your thoughts. You cared about Briar as a friend, but there was another feeling there.
The same with Lizzie and Cerise. You even had close relationships with the other Wonderlandians. You had respect for Apple and Raven. You longed for a better relationship with Dexter and Hunter. A love/hate relationship with Daring was also present.
Briar: You usually skip these.
Y/N: I wanted to. Apple asked me to come.
Briar figured that was the case.
Briar: You don't seem to bothered by what happened.
You looked at her.
Briar: The whole thing with Lizzie. Saw it this morning.
Of course.
Briar: I've seen Lizzie loose her head before, but that was something else. What happened?
You groaned as you rubbed your face. You figured this would happen. Of course people would be bothering you for answers. Their problems all accumulated to basic high-school drama.
Y/N: She thought we were something we aren't. She got her feelings hurt.
Briar was a bit taken back by your blunt answer. You were acting harshly towards someone she thought you were close with.
You also seemed to be annoyed by just talking to her. She had no idea why, but you were acting strangely.
Briar: Are you okay? You seem a bit....
Y/N: Don't you have some nap to take? I'm trying to pay attention here.
You weren't, but you wanted to stop this conversation before she started asking stupid questions.
Briar frowned. You were seriously being a bit mean. She decided not to keep up the conversation and ended up leaving. You went back to looking through your MirrorPhone.
-------------
Hunter Woodsman had a few questions running through his head. He had watched the video of you and Lizzie on repeat since breakfast. Something about it wasn't right.
Lizzie threw tantrums. That was just her. But never for no real reason. And never towards you. You were probably the closest person to her.
And on top of that, he saw something that no one else seemed to acknowledge.
Raven was there.
That was why he was here now. Maybe no one else has noticed, but you've been acting differently. You were less kind, more playboyish, angry, standoffish.
So Hunter decided to talk to Raven about what happened. Or, rather, what was happening.
Raven sat off by herself in the library where she was studying. She didn't really want to be bothered by anyone who might have seen her in the video. It was the hot topic right now and she didn't really want to be caught up in it.
But, unfortunately, Hunter was already on the hunt.
Hunter: Raven.
Raven looked up from her book. She didn't want to seem annoyed, but she didn't feel like being pulled into another Royal Rebel fight. Hunter had a bad habit of leading those.
Raven: Hey, Hunter.
Hunter: You have time? I was wondering if I could ask you about something.
Raven frowned.
Raven: Okay?
Hunter sat across from her and looked around to make sure no one else was around. He also didn't want the step sisters to yell at him for being too loud.
Hunter: It's about Y/N.
Raven immediately rolled her eyes and started to close her book. Hunter quickly stopped her by placing his hand on the book and waving his other.
Hunter: Wait wait. Wait just a spell.
Raven: Hunter, I...
Hunter: Just, hear me out. Please?
Raven stared at him for a second before she sighed. She nodded and Hunter smiled for a quick moment.
Hunter: Look, I don't know what happened, but.....don't you think he's been a bit weird since Thronecoming?
Raven was confused. But, she started to think about it. Her conversation with you in the hall came to mind. You did seem kinda too eager to do evil things and give her credit for it.
Raven: I mean, maybe a bit.
Hunter: So it's not just me?
Raven: What do you mean?
Hunter pulled out his MirrorPhone and showed her the video.
Hunter: Is this something Lizzie would do just randomly? To Y/N?
Raven realized that it was pretty weird. Lizzie seemed to like you the most out of everyone at Ever After High. Maybe even more than Maddie and Kitty.
Raven: I guess not.
Hunter: And hasn't he been standoffish? Like he's avoiding everyone. Isn't that weird?
Raven: Well.....yeah. It is.
Hunter was glad that he wasn't the only one who noticed. Now that he was saying it out loud, Raven realized that he was right. Even when you spoke to her, you seem more slick. Your words had a different kind of effect than usual.
Your words were kind and had a sense of understanding to them. They made people feel warm and safe and secure. But your words now were chilled and selfish. They were....sinister.
Hunter: Did something happen to him? Like, at Thronecoming or something?
Raven thought about it. Then, it hit her.
Raven: I....I think I have an idea. But, it's a long story.
----------------
You whistled as you waited by the Enchanted Lake. You carved a small figure with a knife you had stolen from Professor Jack.
Kitty: Why did you call me here?
You stopped whistling and began to grin. You looked straight up to see Kitty laying on the branch of the tree above you. Now that she had her powers back, she was somewhat happy.
Didn't change the fact that she had a ribbon around her neck still.
Y/N: I'm so happy you came.
Kitty: I didn’t have much of a choice.
Y/N: Nope.
You threw the knife into the ground and stood up. You weren't wearing a coat, so Kitty got to see a bit of your new outfit. A black shirt and a pair of dark trousers with a pair of suspenders.
Y/N: I need you to do something for me.
Kitty frowned.
Kitty: What? Break another bell?
You looked up at her and motioned for her to come down. She vanished and reappeared in front of you, her arms crossed.
Y/N: I need you to listen, very closely.
You leaned down towards her, stopping right next to her ear. Then, you whispered.
Y/N: Please, stay away from me and don't get in my way.
Kitty's face turned from annoyed to confused. You pulled away and handed her the figure that you were carving.
Y/N: The spell is now broken. Your voice is now yours once again. Your head will stay on. Thank you for being a friend.
Kitty suddenly found the ribbon falling from her neck. You smiled and nodded to her.
Y/N: Cheers.
You walked past her and started to walk towards your coat, but she turned and yelled at you.
Kitty: Wait!
You stopped.
Kitty: That's it? You make me destroy an entire tower and now you're just letting me go?
You shrugged.
Y/N: You played your part. I don't need you anymore.
Kitty: You don't....what if I tell anyone?
You smiled.
Y/N: Simple. You tell anyone, and I'll kill you.
Kitty flinched at the blunt threat. You reached down and picked up your coat, throwing it on. It was completely black but with a silver lining along the edges. You ran a hand through your hair and let out a breath.
Y/N: Please, just stay out of it. You're a good one, Kitty. You family didn't wrong me and you like mischief. I.....thank you.
You smiled softly and walked off. Kitty was left there confused. Why were you being so nice? And, why did you just let her go? She could tell the Headmaster and you would be stopped immediately.
But, you trusted her?
That didn't make sense. You had to be planning something, right?
But........you didn't get rid of her.
She looked down at her hand and opened it, looking at the figure that you have carved.
It was a heart. One with a crack in it.
-------------
Hunter: Thank you for coming. I, uh, appreciate it.
He looked around his room where he had called a few people. In addition to Raven, he had summoned Ashlynn, Apple, Cupid, Cedar, Briar, Blondie, Maddie, Lizzie, Dexter, and Ruby.
Lizzie: Why was I brought here?
Blondie: Why did you splash Y/N?
Raven: Blondie, not now.
She turned to Hunter and nodded. Hunter took a deep breath and slowly let it out.
Hunter: Something is wrong with Y/N.
Everyone just stared at him.
Ruby: What? I mean, he's been acting a bit weird, but....
Raven: It's more than that. I don't think that he's really Y/N.
Apple: What?
Cupid: What?
Ashlynn: What?
Ruby: What?
Briar: Zzzz....
Everyone looked over to Briar who was asleep. Dexter reached over and tugged on her skirt, making her sit up.
Briar: What?
Apple: What do you mean he's not Y/N?
Maddie: Yeah. He looks like Y/N. He wears the same clothes as Y/N. His name is Y/N.
Ruby: Not really.
Everyone looked at her. But, she looked frightened. Her eyes were wide and she was shaking. She then covered her mouth.
Ruby: His ring!
Dexter: His ring? What about it?
Raven: He wasn't wearing it. He hasn't worn it since Thronecoming.
Briar: R-Right. Yeah. He said he didn't need it.
Ruby: What?!
Ruby stood up and scared everyone by her sudden yell.
Hunter: What? What's wrong? It's just a ring.
Ruby: No, it isn't!
Blondie: Ruby...
Ruby: If he doesn't have his ring then...then.....oh my godmother!
Ashlynn approached her and began to try and calm her down.
Ashlynn: Just take a breath.
Hunter: Why is that ring so important?
Ruby: I-It's the only thing stopping Oswalt.
Cedar: Oswalt?
Ruby: Our brother!
Everyone was now lost. Even Maddie and Lizzie, two Wonderlandians, were confused.
Cedar: Oswalt is your...brother? I thought...
Dexter: Aren't you and Y/N the only ones left?
Ruby shook her head.
Ruby: No. Not really.
Maddie: Oh! That's right! Y/N's mother is the Wicked Witch of the West! And the Good Witch bonded him and his brother together to stop him from dying!
Everyone looked at her with wide eyes.
Raven: What?!
Blondie: This is a juicy scoop.
Ruby: How do you...
Maddie: He told everyone after we stopped the Jabberwock from destroying Ever After High. None of you remember because of the sleeping spell.
Briar: Oh. Yeah, that adds up.
Hunter: So, Y/N isn't in control anymore. Oswalt is. That means that Y/N is....what? Gone?
Ruby: Maybe. I-I don't really know.
Apple: But we do know that the person we've been talking to isn't Y/N.
Lizzie: I knew it!
Everyone turned to her she looked around before she lowered her arm.
Lizzie: I mean....Y/N would have never done any of this. He's.....
Briar: Y/N is a kind person.
Blondie: Wait, do you guys think that Oswalt was involved with the bell tower going down?
Cupid: Maybe. But why would he do that?
Cedar: Does it matter? We need to tell someone.
Y/N: That's a bad idea.
Everyone jumped to their feet when they realized you were standing in the doorway. You were smiling with your hands in your pockets.
Ruby: Oswalt.
Oswalt: Hello, little sister.
Hunter: So it really is you.
Lizzie: I demand you tell us where you put Y/N!
Oswalt just laughed. He then raised his hands and made a face.
Oswalt: Oh, no. The Princess of Hearts has given me an order. Surely I must do as she asks.
He then dropped his hands and laughed some more.
Oswalt: You hold no power over me. None of you do. Not anymore.
Apple: What do you want?
Oswalt shrugged.
Oswalt: What every teenage boy wants, I suppose. Respect, love....revenge.
His eyes began to change into emerald green. He grinned wider as he pulled his hands out from his pockets. Hunter moved in front of Ashlynn while Dexter tried to move to protect Raven, but she pushed past him.
Raven: Enough.
Oswalt: Not enough, actually.
Raven: Where is Y/N? Why are you doing this? We never did anything to you.
Oswalt: Which is why I'm not doing anything to you. Yet.
Everyone watched as he raised his hand up. A green flame engulfed his hand.
Oswalt: Now that you all know my dirty little secret, I guess I should give you all the same warning I gave Kitty.
Maddie: Kitty?
Oswalt: Stay out of my way. You try to stop me, then...well...
He then flicked his hand forward, sending a small flame towards the group, making them all scream and step back. Oswalt laughed at their reaction before he returned his hands to his pockets.
Ruby: Oswalt...
Oswalt: Ruby.
Ruby: You don't have to.....please don't do this.
Oswalt: I'm not doing anything! Swear.
He then hummed.
Oswalt: Yet.
He grinned again.
Oswalt: I mean, I can totally just go on with my plan, but I need a few things first. Of course, none of you can really stop me, so....yeah.
Dexter: What do you mean?
Oswalt: The Good Witch is the only one who has the magic to stop me. And seeing as she hasn't been seen in 10 years, well, things aren't looking so good for you.
Apple: You won't get away with this.
Oswalt: With what? Taking back my own body and taking revenge on those who took away everything from me?
He smiled wider as he began to step towards everyone. They all stepped back, which made him laugh.
Oswalt: Try and stop me. See how well that works for you.
He turned and walked off. Once he was gone, everyone came to the same realization.
They needed to stop him, and they needed to hurry.
But how?
But that wasn't the only thing that was on everyone's mind.
Hunter: Where's Y/N?
The End Is Just The Beginning......
